Two of the top 3 UFA's I was thinking about last fall are now free: G Yann Danis of Brown, r/s D Stephan Wood of Providence. I'd be expecting them to sign in the next week.
UMass D Tomas Pock is still in action. The l/s D scored 15g in reg.season. Thomas Pöck, UMass (Sr. D; Klagenfurt, Austria) – Dominated Thursday’s 6-3 win over Lowell with a goal and three assists. Senior defenseman Thomas Pöck recently became the school's all-time leading-scoring defenseman, passing NHL'er Brad Norton, scoring 56 points in only 48 games. Ironically, Pöck came to UMass as a standout forward, but his scoring picked up last season when he moved to defenseman five games into the season. Pöck's trademark is his powerful slapshot, scoring over half of his points on the power play. He was also named a preseason All-American and is on the preliminary Hobey Baker watch list, given annually to the nation's top college hockey player. He leads the country's defensemen in scoring and goals and leads all players with seven power-play goals.
He'll probably be free next week. Without the #2 pick,I'd consider one these guys as a good alternative. We should go after all three.
