40 Wins or 40 Goals?MattNJD 03-16-2004, 09:55 AM What is more likely? Marty getting 40 wins or Patty scoring 40 goals? Subway Schenn 03-16-2004, 10:00 AM Elias scoring 40! nj666 03-16-2004, 10:51 AM Elias scoring 40! I agree. Elias will finish with 41 goals. I don't think Marty will get 40, but I think he'll finish with the most wins this season. The last 10 games are gonna be tough ones to win We have to play: Lightning, (2) Bruins, (2) Canadians, Islanders, Panthers, Rangers, Thrashers and Penguins (not listed in the order of our schedule but in level of threat.) I think things are too tight right now for Marty NOT to play every game, except for maybe the Penguins. We need every point we can get. Here are my predictions: I think we can beat TB at least once this year, especially after the meltdown from last game. We'll go 1-2-1-0 against the combined MONT and BOST games. The NYI will be tough, I predict a tie. We will beat both FL and NYR easily, but I can see us losing to one of the sub .500 teams in our schedule and I think that team will be ATL. We'll beat PITT, but Clemmenson will play. That will give Marty 38 on the season. But it will be enough to tie Fuhr for 7th in all time regular season wins at 403 wins. DevilFisch 03-16-2004, 12:46 PM Both! I say so on nothing but sheer optimism! That and The Man will get some offensive help after robbing Montreal AGAIN. Hellsempire 03-16-2004, 08:17 PM Brodeur should get to 40 wins this season. He is only 6 wins away with 10 games to go. If the Devils want to move up into the playoff seeding Brodeur will have to win at least 6 of the last 10 games. I know Elias is hot right now but I think he will fall short of 40 goals and get like 36 to 38 goals for the season. I think it will be easier for Brodeur to get the 40 than Elias... Brodeur has to win these games if the Devils want any home ice in the playoffs... I would like to see them both get to 40 but it will be tough... DownFromNJ 03-16-2004, 08:26 PM The sooner Gio gets back the sooner both are likely to happen. I'm confident Elias will get at least 39 goals. Theres what 10 games left to play? Look what he's done in the past 10 games. Vanya 03-16-2004, 11:34 PM I have always had every once of faith in Elias to be our main threat on offense, but is anyone else just floored by the notion that he could hit 40 goals? Yes, he's put up great numbers before and shows frequent flashes of brilliance, but to score 40 in today's NHL on this team is so amazing, I couldn't even articulate it correctly. What kind of numbers could this guy put up playing in an offensive system? Imagine of he was able to take chances, even float a little bit? Yeah, his ability to play a two-way game makes him that much more valuable, but imagine if he went all out in only trying to score? Scary to think what he could do. I have great respect for him in adjusting his game to fit this system and still find a way to show his talents. | ||
