As Shakespeare would say, therein lies the rub. He's signed until the summer of 2012 at a cap hit of 3.875million/year. Even on re-entry, that's 1.9million/year for the next three seasons.

The length of the contract would bother me more than anything else. Until he proves he can play back at the level he's shown in the past (keep in mind he was playing terribly with Dallas prior to the suspension) and also keep the off-ice distraction/sideshow to a minimum, I would stay away.

I'm not emo, I don't whine...

He's no where near a good enough player to justify the attitude risk, certainly not a team apparently in a "re-tool" of sorts.

I'm sorta rooting for him to get back on track, just not on the Ducks.

word has it from Kings fans that Avery used to make fun of Dustin Brown's speech impediment in the locker room. He mocked him and prodded him until there was finally a fist fight in the locker room between Avery and another member of the team.

It sounds like all of you have forgotten JSG's reaction when Avery hurled that stupid anti-French Canadian stuff about. Dirk, are you planning on trading Jiggy before acquiring Avery? I like gritty players, but I don't overestimate them. Several teams couldn't get rid of Avery fast enough.

Signed through 2012...for 2million a year (and prior for nearly 4 million). **** that, sorry Dirk. But if it was just for the remainder of the year I wouldn't have minded. I had no idea someone threw him that much money.

I've been a ducks fan from the start, and I think this is the only move they could do to make me stop being a fan.

edit: and just to humor the topic. The Stars with Avery were 8-11-4 and 21-13-3 without him. That's a 0.435 point % compared to 0.608% after he was suspended. He hurt the team.
