Neely2005 02-27-2009, 08:06 AM With all these threads about Under Rated Games / Your Favourite Games of all time it got me thinking about what is my favourite console of all time.
I own / have owned:
Sega Master System
Nintendo Entertainment System
Sega Genesis
Sega Game Gear
Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast
Nintendo Wii
Out of all those systems I probably had the most fun / best games on either the Sega Saturn or the Sega Dreamcast... but I think I might have to go with the Sega Saturn due to Panzer Dragoon Saga, Dragon Force, Shinning Force 3 & Virtua Fighter 2.
What is your favourite console?
E_Godard 02-27-2009, 08:07 AM Original NES back in 86 was the ****.
sabresfan129103 02-27-2009, 10:01 AM sega genesis for me. i played that thing for hours upon hours. the games were fun as all hell and it never stopped working for me. I could go in my basement right now, break out my genesis and I could guarantee you that it would still work. N64 comes in 2nd.
The Muffin Stud 02-27-2009, 10:06 AM PlayStation 2.
The console to end all consoles, atleast for me. I'm not much of a gamer and don't really care about graphics so much. I also find that the more advanced a game becomes the more complicated the controls become, making it less fun as you practicaly need a thrid arm these days to play a really good shooter.
As long as I can run around and shoot things, I'll be busy for hours. I still play Max Payne religiously. I can't see myself buying a new system in the near future.
ibleedkings 02-27-2009, 10:11 AM My Order from the one's I've owned
Xbox 360
Sega Genesis
Super Nintendo
NES
Playstation 3
Nintendo 64

A toss up between the PS2, PS3 and the Sega Genesis for me the only systems Ive really owned. Ill go with the PS3
Super Nintendo. 49.10 million sold. 785 games. No load times.
FLYLine24 02-27-2009, 12:53 PM Snes
Unholy Diver 02-27-2009, 12:55 PM I've had:
Atari 2600
NES
Sega Genesis
N64
PS1
Sega Saturn
PS2
Xbox
Gamecube
Xbox 360
Wii
PS3
it would be tough to really put them in much of an order since they were all very good on their own merits
if a gun was held to my head I would go in this order though
1. Genesis
2. NES
3. PS3
4. Xbox 360
5. N64

No love for the Sega Saturn?
Unholy Diver 02-27-2009, 01:11 PM No love for the Sega Saturn?
it broke down twice on me so that takes a few points away, it would be in the next 5 on my list
Zodiac 02-27-2009, 02:17 PM went with the playstation 3.
reason is because it can play all PS1, PS2 (depending on which version of PS3 you bought), and of course PS3 games. that's an amazing collection of games.
then you have the great media capabilities to go with it.
that system is really quite excellent.
weaponomega 02-27-2009, 04:04 PM My favorites
1. PS2 (GTA SA, Madden)
2. N64 (Zelda OOT, Mario 64, Goldeneye)
3. SNES (Donkey Kong, NHL 94)
4. XBOX 360 (GOW, Halo 3, NHL 09)
Neely2005 02-27-2009, 05:15 PM it broke down twice on me so that takes a few points away, it would be in the next 5 on my list
So where's the Xbox 360 on your list then?
:naughty:

Can you save PS1 & PS2 games on PS3?
playbedar 02-27-2009, 05:28 PM I owned:
- NES
- SNES
- Sega Genesis
- PS1
- PS2
- XBOX
- XBOX360
And in order it would be:
1- SNES (NHLPA '93, Super Mario)
2- PS1 (Gran Turismo, NHL serie)
3- PS2 (Gran Turismo, GTA Vice City and San Andreas)
4- Sega Genesis (Sonic forced me to like this console ... and I had Jurrasic Park which was pretty badass)
5- NES (Blades of Steel and Duck Hunter)
6- XBOX 360 (still too young and I'm not a children anymore so no magic :P)
7- XBOX (had it for only a couple of months)
Mongo 02-27-2009, 06:11 PM SNES
Super Mario World is all that needs to be said.
eldiablo17 02-27-2009, 06:25 PM Pretty easily PS3 w/backwards capability followed by SNES
I've had:
Xbox360
SNES
Genesis
SMS
PS1
PS2
NES
32X
Sega CD
To me the winner is the SNES without a doubt.
qwertysac 02-27-2009, 08:04 PM hard vote for me, since it was pretty close between the 360 and the n64. But i had to give it to the 360 just because it has online.
Thricecube 02-27-2009, 08:11 PM N64 > PS3 > SNES > Sega Genesis > PS2 > Wii > Dreamcast > X360
Golden Slumbers 02-27-2009, 08:18 PM Man, it's like picking between your children. I love them all in their own ways, so to speak.
I'll just have to go with the trifecta of SNES, PSX and Dreamcast.
Unholy Diver 02-28-2009, 01:45 AM So where's the Xbox 360 on your list then?
:naughty:
I've had my 360 since a few months after the launch and no issues, and it is in at #4 on my list as you can plainly see
Morozov 02-28-2009, 01:48 AM Sega Master System with built in Alex the Kidd
Jesus 02-28-2009, 02:33 AM Gameboy for sure.
SNES second.
Zodiac 02-28-2009, 03:31 AM Can you save PS1 & PS2 games on PS3?
yeah, you can.
it actually makes the graphics of those old games look a little better, too.
Kostik20 02-28-2009, 05:06 AM I've only owned the Super Nintendo, Playstation, Playstation 2, and Xbox 360....
I've come to hate the 360, so out of the ones I've owned..I would go with the PS2
Lee Van Cleef* 02-28-2009, 11:14 AM Sega Mega Drive/Genesis with Road Rash 2 was the bomb.
Travis Moen 02-28-2009, 12:32 PM Master System > Playstation 1 > Super Nintendo > Game Boy > ... > CrapBox
rideaucrusher21 02-28-2009, 02:36 PM this is close but im gonna have to go with my good ol' ps2 over the old school nes.
TheEmergencyHammer 02-28-2009, 04:19 PM For me it's,
Ps2
Snes
N64
PS3
360
ps1
Xbox
Neely2005 03-01-2009, 02:56 PM I've had my 360 since a few months after the launch and no issues, and it is in at #4 on my list as you can plainly see
Glad to hear your 360 hasn't RROD'd yet.
Puckinator 03-01-2009, 03:25 PM 3DO baby!
Return Fire 3DO = Best 2 player game of all time:nod:
Chris Cutter 03-01-2009, 03:33 PM N64 for me, so many classic games...
John Belushi 03-01-2009, 04:27 PM I've owned (best games in brackets):
NES (Duck Hunt, NHL Hockey)
Genesis (NHL '95, Sonic)
SNES (Donkey Kong 1+2, Super Mario, EDF)
N64 (Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, Mario Kart, Zelda)
PS2 (GTA, Ratchet & Clank)
Xbox (Halo 1+2)
Xbox 360 (Halo 3, Bioshock, Ninja Gaiden 2)
Gamecube (Metroid, Zelda)
And I'd rank them as follows, from best to worst:
1.) Super Nintendo
2.) N64
3.) Xbox 360
4.) NES
5.) Xbox
6.) Genesis
7.) PS2
8.) Gamecube
Ride The Lightning 03-01-2009, 06:09 PM Nes and Super Nes. Nothing gets any better than that..
MikeyMike01 03-01-2009, 06:49 PM Nintendo 64
Xbox 360
The Other Crap I Own
Kamina 03-01-2009, 07:22 PM Super Nintendo, by so so very far.
Soul Blazer
Terranigma
Illusion of Gaia
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy III
Earthbound
Super Metroid
Secret of the Stars
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Secret of Mana
Tales of Phantasia
Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu
Dragon Quest V
F-Zero X
Super Mario World
Street Fighter II
Super Robot Wars IV
And Belushi? How exactly can you leave ...
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Tales of Symphonia
Resident Evil 4
Paper Mario: TTYD
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Baten Kaitos
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
F-Zero GX
Off your list? Clearly, you've never owned a GameCube. How can you not know those games? The GameCube arguably had a lineup that could measure up to the PS2.

I do own a Gamecube, but I've never been to big on it. I don't appreciate being called a liar, either.
The controller was inferior to the Xbox and PS2, and the graphics were only slightly ahead of the Playstation while the Xbox blew it out of the water in that respect. Also, no online play. Good multiplayer games? Super Smash Bros, Mario Party and... that is about it.
And regarding your list of games for the Cube: notice how in the way I setup my post I only listed 2/3 games for each system?
I stand by what I posted.
The Gamecube is (in my opinion obviously, just how you have an opinion as well) the worst system out of the 8 I have owned, especially considering it didn't live it up to the standards on the three previous Nintendo systems. Also, I much preferred Super Smash Bros. for N64 to Melee and the recent title for the Wii although I've only played the latter a couple times.
SilverSeven 03-01-2009, 08:20 PM Ive had:
Atari 2600
Atari Jaguar
NES
SNES
N64
GC
Wii
Gameboy
Gameboy Advance
DS
PS1
PS2
PS3
Dreamcast
Game Gear
Xbox
360
Id rank them like this:
SNES (Best games ever, simple, fun, just amazing)
N64 (The best "3d" console ever IMO)
NES (So many great memories. Blades of Steel alone gets it this spot)
DS (Just WAY WAY WAY too many great games. So much time wasted)
GBA (Again, SO much time wasted on this one. Got me through highschool classes)
360 (This is only on the backs of a few games, but I LOOOVE those games.)
Dreamcast (How I miss thee. You should be higher on this list, but you were taken from us too young)
Gamecube (Had a lot of fun with this one. Still dont know how it wasnt more popular with all the great games it had)
Wii (Some really just plain fun games)
PS3 (A lot of the cross platform games I love I play on the 360 because of the controller. I have ALWAYS hated the Sony controller. If this had the 360s controller, it would at least be tied with it. The media capabilities are great, but outside of consideration for me. I buy my systems to game)
Atari 2600 (So many great memories. But still, too simplistic to compete with the others)
Gameboy (I never really got all that into GB. This is here on Pokemon and Tetris, nothing else)
Xbox (Was a big let down for me)
PS1 (Meh. I really liked Driver and GT, but not a whole lot else)
Game Gear (I have one great memory of this system. World Series Baseball. But that is it)
PS2 (I just could never get into my PS2. The graphics were painful on a lot of games, the controller I hate, and the target audience of the games often didnt include me. Im not big on many of its flagship franchises, so that didnt help. Still some gems on it though)
Jaguar (hehe)
Raging Bull 03-01-2009, 09:56 PM Voted SNES, just because that was "THE" console when I was growing up, not many people were into Sega that I knew.
Raging Bull 03-01-2009, 09:59 PM I stand by what I posted.

The Gamecube was only worth buying IMO if you wanted the Nintendo only games. I personally only bought it for Crystal Chronicles, Wind Waker, and RE4 and the remake of the original Resident Evil. But, I always have it laying around if I find any Gamecube exclusive games I want to play.
Bring_Bak_Damphousse 03-01-2009, 10:41 PM I've owned
NES
SNES
Game cube
Playstation 2
Wii
Playstation 3
NES is number 1 for me, there's no way my PS3 lasts me 20 years. And I used to beat the hell out of my Nintendo anytime I lost, I treat the PS like gold...which it is :sarcasm:
Kamina 03-01-2009, 10:45 PM I do own a Gamecube, but I've never been to big on it. I don't appreciate being called a liar, either.

LOLWUT. Melee is easily the best of the three. Brawl is better than the N64 version as well. SSB was a great starting point for the series, but Melee and Brawl expanded on it a lot.
Also, ever heard of Resident Evil 4? You know, that game that won all those awards for being awesome? The games that I put in that list are all exceptionally good, with the exception of Paper Mario and Prince of Persia. F-Zero GX was probably the best racing game of that generation, same with SSBM for fighting, etc.
F-Zero GX, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Custom Robo, and Tales of Symphonia aren't bad multiplayer games either.
Hey, I respect your opinion and all, but you haven't played the best there is on the system.
DubiSnacks17 03-01-2009, 10:48 PM NES. Own the most games for that system and played countless hours on it. I still load up the roms every now and then to play them. No other system comes close.
Consoles I've owned:
Atari 2600
NES
SNES
Sega Genesis
N64
PS1
Dreamcast
GameCube
PS2
Xbox 360
Wii
Handhelds:
Game Boy
Game Boy Advance (and SP, though that's basically the same thing)
Nintendo DS
It's so hard for me to pick a favorite, because there are so many games I like for each console. The SNES and N64 has an almost endless list of games that I absolutley love (and still play regularly now, even if they are older consoles). The GameCube had quite a bit of fun stuff, and really expanded on many different series (Metroid and SSB, for example). The Dreamcast was great for such a short shelf life. Never really cared much for the PS1 or PS2, mainly because they demographic they target has never really fit my taste. I eventually got more into FPS type games as I got older, but I still prefer platformers and games like that, to be honest.

I think they Just stopped supporting it in Japan.
I think they Just stopped supporting it in Japan.
I was mainly talking about over here in North America, though.
RandV 03-02-2009, 03:46 PM Snes was the best, but I personally had most fun with my Sega Saturn, so gave that my vote.
Liliaceae 03-02-2009, 04:28 PM Snes
Fish on The Sand 03-03-2009, 02:07 AM Super Nintendo. 49.10 million sold. 785 games. No load times.
not to mention that their games were just flat out fun.

Yeah we got screwed. That was my second favourite console of all time. It probably would have been #1 if it held in a little longer.
Neely2005 03-06-2009, 09:23 AM Bumping for more votes.
