Right now the only light down Lowell is Frazee. I thought I heard a ways back Devils wanted to grab Montoya from Hartford Wolfpack. Anyone have any insight????? Very interesting subject.

It may be an interesting subject down the road, but for now, can we please enjoy watching the best goalie of all-time without any more of this insight?

2 years?

Marty has 3 years left and I think he will certainly play out his contract and I fully believe he will be done after that so 2 years would be about right in looking at potential replacements. We don't full out replace him in 2 years but maybe you reduce the number of games he plays so Frazee or whoever could get some playing time in the NHL as a backup.

Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft:laugh::laugh: :laugh:

Lou will find the "next one" in the next couple of years in the draft.

As long as we find a suitable replacement to tide us over until they are ready, we'll be fine. I don't want our next prized goalie being thrown into the fire MA Fleury style (even though Fleury is fine nowadays, it was rough for him early on).

Gerald Coleman. This is why im one of the 500 people who go to Trenton games. This guy is better than Clemmensen but, stuck in the ECHL.

He is pretty young too right? Like 24 or 25? Maybe next year in Lowell he can put on a good showing and prove that he is capable of playing at a higher level.

That's a stretch - to say the least. Gerald is clearly a level above the ECHL - as are many goalies in the league who seem to be stuck at that level due to the abundance of strong players at that position.

But while he very well may be a top level goalie at the ECHL level, and possibly the AHL or even European pro, too, Clemmensen has now established that he can have success in the NHL.

Until Gerald takes that next step the jury is still out.

He has, though, I will agree, proven that he deserves a shot at the next level.

Of course, whether he gets it or not is another story (look at how many years Scott Bertoli put up great numbers in Trenton only to get a handful of games at the AHL level).

Time is of the essence my friend. I bet you Brodeur plays until he's 41 or 42. He'll be 40 when his current contract expires then I could see him signing another 1 or 2 year deal.

He's going to absolutely destroy Roy's wins record.

True, Brodeur will most likely retire before the Rangers are free of the albatrosses known as Gomez and Redden.

ehhh, I don't know about that. All it'd take in Redden's last year of his deal is a 2-3 goal game and a "+" rating and Sather will lock him up for another 5.

Look at Cujo and Eddie; Marty will easily play until he's 40, and there's no reason to talk about what happens when he isn't playing, I think this season already answered that question - we'll still have a good team. Marty just makes every game an amazing experience. I missed you Marty!!! AND I MISSED Doc's "SAVE BY BRODEUR".

Marty makes everything better :)

Seriously just go back to your board. Or have all the fans turned their back on the team already?

You come in with a snide comment about the Devils and don't expect retaliation?

We have been beating you with a call-up minor league goalie and you're making us out to be the team that's in trouble?

it would be completely awesome to see Northeastern University's Brad Thiessen in net for the Devils sometime. (He's the goalie in my avatar) I don't know if he has the ability to be an NHL netminder, but he's a Hobey Baker contender this season and by far the best goalie in the conference. (And you know how much Lou likes his college hockey guys, Hockey East especially). He has not been drafted, and might be a candidate for Lou to take a stab at as a free agent. He's a junior this season and I think he'll play his senior year too so after that it'd be nice to see him get a free agent deal.

Brodeur has at least 4-5 years left. Then we'll draft his son and play him. Brodeur in net for New Jersey for 30+ years.
