Because you made it seem like a draft pick was going to impact the deal. Did you expect Anaheim to give up a first round pick, a top 6 winger, AND a good prospect for uber soft Ryan Whitney? Marv4Life 02-26-2009, 01:43 PM Why do some of you want Neids back? The Devils Reunion Tour 2008-09 hasn't worked. MUCH rather have Pronger; at least he has something left. Tangradi makes Staal a more movable piece in the off-season and Whitney is basically an insurance policy on Nieds. I don't know how much Kunitz was playing in Anaheim to say whether or not Whitney makes them better, but if his leaving Pitt additionally puts Goligoski back in the lineup along with Kunitz the Pens definitely just got better. The Devils Reunion Tour 2008-09 hasn't worked. MUCH rather have Pronger; at least he has something left. What to do mean it hasn't worked? The Devils have the best depth at forward they've had since the 2001 season. They are sitting in 3rd in the conference (2pts out of second with a game in hand) having played the last 4 months without their all star goalie. They made a third string goalie, whose career was going nowhere, become the goalie with the second highest wins in a season in franchise history. They are scoring 3 goals a game, the most they've ever done since they lead the league in scoring in the early part of this decade. Wienermeyer has one good run in him, I think. He can come back and retire a Devil and put his past actions where they belong. The team can afford him for the short time he will be here. The team doesn't need a superstar D-man, just one to shore up some weaknesses. If he can do that, that's all the team needs. The only question really is how much the Ducks would ask for him and whether the Devils can afford to make that trade without impairing their future too much. The Devils Reunion Tour 2008-09 hasn't worked. MUCH rather have Pronger; at least he has something left. I rather have Pronger than Niedermeyer. Pronger gives us additional size on the blue line needed as well as someone who can actually play the point on the PP and not be a liability. That would allow the other players on the team to be slotted better. Plus he has another year on the contract so it isn't a rental. That said I wouldn't say the re-uninion tour hasn't worked. With the exception of Holik and the returnees are contributing. Classic Devil 02-26-2009, 02:03 PM I rather have Pronger than Niedermeyer. I said how about a draft pick. thats it. I never specified which one or if it was in place of Kunitz or the prospects. Don't put words in my mouth. I would assume they would want picks so they could turn around and trade said picks to another team, possible tampa or whoever, to acquire the scoring winger that they desperately need and that Kunitz is not. When lost seasons start piling up, your expectations drop, hence you lose some passion W or L. When you have higher expectations, you get pissed off easier. A lot of Devils fans (maybe not you, since I believe you were a very early one) haven't gone through this, so I understand your sentiment. I thought the bolded was a bit ironic, just a joke though. theMessiah1194 02-27-2009, 06:21 PM please don't come over here and start a pissing match. I'm responding to a poster on a message board. In no way shape or form did I say anything to provoke anyone. britdevil 02-27-2009, 06:23 PM I'm responding to a poster on a message board. In no way shape or form did I say anything to evoke anyone. Muttley is a loose cannon when it comes to the evil empire. ;) I think that's all devzrule meant. guyincognito 02-27-2009, 06:24 PM New drinking game. Whenever Sam and Joe get excited about Sean Avery, take a shot. If they say something along the lines of "he's misunderstood", swig the entire bottle at once. theMessiah1194 02-27-2009, 06:24 PM Muttley is a loose cannon when it comes to the evil empire. ;) I think that's all devzrule meant. its cool, I like Muttley anyway ILikeItVeryMuch 02-27-2009, 06:52 PM Hot ass girl behind the counter at the NHL Store wearing a Parise shirt today. :) Clarkson Falls Down 02-27-2009, 06:52 PM New drinking game. Muttley 02-27-2009, 07:05 PM The Isles have been mediocre since 93, this season they've hit rock bottom, how much more ranting can their fans do?? Rangers fans were in that position for the first have of the decade. When lost seasons start piling up, your expectations drop, hence you lose some passion W or L. Different situations. The NYI were AHL-caliber lottery teams while the NYR brought in big names players to generate interest, sell tickets and at least on paper, give them a chance at making the playoffs. Don't you remember everybody predicting the NYR winning the Stanley Cup each year? They NYI only big name was Yashin and they finished ahead of the NYR like 2 or 3 times during those years, not to mention there were like 3 seasons when the NYR hovered around .500 and were in the playoff hunt to the very end. And even Slats didn't make as many boneheaded moves as Mike Milbury. (Slats is only good at giving out bad contracts and mismanaging the cap) Oh, and I forgot the Nassau Coliseum roof collapsing, a potential buyer of the team going to jail and finally, a very ambiguous, bizarre owner too that might not be a little too hands-offish. Advantage: NYR The NYI fans have handled that circus on Long Island very gracefully. jkrdevil 02-27-2009, 08:05 PM Anyone not getting the Habs-Flyers on Directv Center Ice? Game Breaker 02-27-2009, 08:15 PM Anyone not getting the Habs-Flyers on Directv Center Ice? I just came to ask the same thing.
