Mr Bojanglez 02-25-2009, 11:33 AM I whole-heartedly applaud this move.
People don't realize Clemmenson can comeback after the trade deadline. In the mean time, he's getting work in the AHL. Weekes is a better suited goalie for spot starts. Clemmenson needs to play a couple in a row.
And it seems like a diss to Scott. But Scott was awarded this contract in the first place, and was able to show himself off for 40 games this year. He'll get a pay day next year.
DevsOwnYou 02-25-2009, 11:38 AM Boo-yah!

All i am going to say is If we make it to June i better see Clemmer on the bench or in the tunnel along with Weekes.
Welcome back Marty.:yo:
Cheap Seats 02-25-2009, 11:47 AM We'll see if the Devils forwards keep playing at a high level when Marty comes back. It's natural for teams to have a bit of a let down when a superstar comes back, so we'll see of the players can Devils can avoid that whole "human-nature" thing...

I don't think many of us are expecting him to play too well at first. But if we make the playoffs, we need him to be our starter to go far. So he needs to workout his kinks now.

I believe the 23 man roster limit is lifted Friday, so he could be back with the team then if Lou wants. Or he could leave them in Lowell to help them make the playoffs and get playoff experience for some of he prospects.

I personally think they have had the letdown the last week or so waiting for this. With the trade deadline looming and Marty's return to practice I think they all got stuck in a bit of a holding pattern right now. I expect Marty to be a little rusty but better now than April.

He better be on the playoff roster incase we win you know what so he gets his name on that shiny thing they give the winner of the you know what.
Other then that i'm not really that upset. I had a feeling something like this was going to happen. It stinks but he'll be back and best of all he'll most likely have a steady job next year in the NHL so I can go out and buy his jersey.

The Jersey Devil 02-25-2009, 01:12 PM Sutter is hilarious.
How did Sutter know Brodeur was ready? Did the goalie stop all seven of his shots?
"Fourteen in a row," the coach joked. "Just kidding. I was afraid to shoot on him anymore."
Because he didn't want to hurt Brodeur's confidence?
"I wouldn't say that," Sutter said. "I was afraid he was going to hurt mine."
Tomorrow will mark the first time since the beginning of the season where we will ice our full team.
anotherdonut 02-25-2009, 01:34 PM i think he'd get his name on it no matter what at this point
i think the criteria is 41GP or at least 1GP in the finals. this must be different for goalies however, since they only get credit with a GP if they actually get some ice time in a game. i'd bet for goalies it's how often they're on the game-day roster... does anyone know for sure?
that said, teams can also petition the league to include players that fall outside of the criteria, so you know Lou would do the right thing and get Clemmer's name into the hands of the Cup engraver.
Colin Whites Eye 02-25-2009, 01:37 PM hes played in 40 games so far this year

Doesn't the backup goalie automatically get his name on it?
anotherdonut 02-25-2009, 01:49 PM Doesn't the backup goalie automatically get his name on it?
i wouldn't think it's automatic, but i think the criteria must be roster appearances and not GP for goalies... just can't find anything definitive on this on the nets...

I have to say that Clemmer deserves much more than being sent down to the A while Weekes is kept around as backup. I think that is ridiculous and they should just have moved Weekes out in favor of keeping Clemmer on the big team- if possible.
The Leafs would love to have Clemmer back nowadays, what a stupid decision

For god sakes, thats not the case at all. Go read the Thread on the main board and you'll understand why Clemmensen got sent down.

No there is nothing wrong with the decision. You don't give players away for free. Clemmer doesn't have to go through waivers so it makes perfect sense. Plus whoever the backup is isn't going to play that much anyway. clemmer will play a lot more in Lowell then he would now in the NHL. this is good for him. He'll get a job for next season and I'll be happy.

guyincognito 02-25-2009, 02:38 PM Not that the retarded unsolicited opinions (especially the main board thread, but the main board is an embarrassment) are worth anything, they probably should have run Weekes through waivers.
Hopefully this is just a one week thing to the deadline and he doesn't have to report, because it's pretty ****ed up if they put him on the bus with AHL pay.

Hahaha I mean seriously I understand Murdoch's rag is best used for either lining a bird cage or to store in your bathroom in case you run out of toilet paper. However how in the hell can they employ this joke to cover a team? Does he even attend practices? Is he there busy playing video games or surfing for porn on his blackberry or something? I guess in a way he serves a purpose- you can take whatever he writes about the devils...AND BE SURE THE EXACT OPPOSITE WILL HAPPEN

:shakehead For those that have a serious problem being able to read accurately :help:, the stupid decision I referred to was the Leafs deciding to just let him go to free agency, hence why the comment followed an opinion on his situation with the Leafs :thumbu:. Not the Devils decision to send him down. Though I don't agree with Clemmer being in the AHL, it's probably better for him to get playing time somewhere rather than nowhere.

You're right buddy, I deserve to be implied that I'm a 'loser' for saying Clemmensen deserves to be on the Devils instead of Weekes as a backup. My post was a supportive opinion of Clemmensen, not condemnation of the Devils franchise or their fans. Did I say Weekes should just be put on waivers or bought-out? Nope. He has played well as a backup, but I, personally, feel that Clemmensen could benefit the Devils long term and Weekes could be dealt at the deadline for assets or a player to help the Devils PO run. Is this an outrageous statement? Absolutely not and for completely discounting my opinion just because I'm not a regular poster on the Devils board is ludicrous. This is a hockey forum for fans of hockey. I did not come in here trolling. I called out my own team for making a stupid decision and got jumped on with egregious comments from people who chose to misread my original post.

By "main board comments", he meant uniformed about the Devils situation. By moving Clemmer down in Lowell FOR NOW, we can keep all goalies as long as we want. Most likely Weekes will be moved before next week and Clemmer will be back. Plus it gets Clemmer some playing time until then.

Oh, well I will be the first to admit I may not be the most up-to-date with the Devils forum, I just wanted to give a supportive opinion to Clemmer as I do really like the player.
And I do agree that would be the best possible situation for the Devils. I really believe the D's can get at least a decent asset for Weekes and ultimately call Clemmensen back up and re-sign him hopefully.

The point is that the guys before gave me a hard time without having any sense of where my team affiliations lie, only seeing that my flag is Canadian. Whereas your username is a Devils' player and your avatar is the Devils' logo, and my username has nothing to do with any team or player and my avatar is nothing to do with hockey at all. So why would someone tell me good riddance and to get out of the Devils' forum for posting a supportive opinion on Clemmensen? If you don't agree with me that Clemmer should be kept on as backup to Brodeur and Weekes traded that is fine, but don't tell me I'm a loser or dumb for having that opinion. Dumb would be saying the Devs should trade Marty for Khabibulin or something like that because it's so stupid and far fetched (btw, this was an example, not my belief:laugh:).
EDIT: It's not so much the Canada thing, to me it's no big deal, the thing is I didn't make any trolling comments and my name isn't Leafsrule09 or w/e

I don't know, just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean they are wrong or dumb...
ForzaZuffa 02-25-2009, 04:12 PM I dont think it had anything to do with your flag man to be honest, but to be honest I didnt really see anything wrong with your first comment either. It is your opinion and you have every right to it and shouldnt have to leave because of it.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
It's not that hard to find out you are a Leafs fan just by looking at your profile.
Ok, that is cool. If my opinion is moot because I'm a Leaf, that's ok, you're entitled to your hatred towards the Leafs. I wasn't making anti-Devil sentiments though
and we have every right to flame him for his opinions on our own board
Actually, you don't because they weren't in any way trolling or flaming towards you or the Devils or the Devils fans. It was a positive sentiment on Clemmensen. You don't own HFboards and people are entitled to their opinions so long as they aren't flaming or trolling.

I am a modern day George Washington on this board

I didn't say that I hate the Leafs or that you're opinion doesn't matter, I just said it's easy to found out that you're a Leafs fan. You made it sound like your fav team was such mystery.

For the record I didn't have an issue with his first post. It was his second that I had a problem with. I responded to his first post kindly.

Well he did make sense. He thought that clemmer should be on the team and we should have traded Weekes. It was just an opinion is all. It wasn't outlandish like "De^i1s shood trayde BrOduer because the syztem makes the goalier and M@rty isn't that go0d and Clemmer is uber good." Like we've seen before on the main boards.
ForzaZuffa 02-25-2009, 04:34 PM honestly dude, I don't think you're being honest
Not everyone is ignorant man, there are some nice guys on the Devils forum

Truth be told, I totally forgot I had the teams listed still haha, I'm trying to stay a somewhat closeted Leaf fan for the next couple of years
Crimson Devil 02-25-2009, 05:07 PM Anybody who thought Clemmensen would remain with Brodeur is a fool.
Sorry.
Welcome home Marty.
Quote from Don Lagreca from NHL Live: "In my opinion, Scott Clemmenson is the main reason why the Devils are a 3rd seed in the conference, and maybe Zach Parise"
ILikeItVeryMuch 02-25-2009, 05:27 PM An interesting bit of advertising on Facebook.
Devils v Florida Tickets
See Marty Brodeur's return and continuation of his quest to win 552 games and surpass Patrick Roy this Saturday in Newark.

lol, even though Weeksie will probably go in that game, unless Marty gets a light workload or looks absolutely spectacular.

*maybe* Zach Parise? Not to knock the goalies, they played way above expectations, but...

Honestly, if Marty doesnt play Saturday that will force me to go to the game Sunday.
Darius Dangleaitis 02-25-2009, 05:34 PM ****ing accounting exam. I can't believe I'm going to miss some of this game.

Good to know that most of the posters on here are fools. You make a lot of friends on here.
ILikeItVeryMuch 02-25-2009, 05:35 PM The weather for the St. Pats parade is supposed to be **** anyway, I think I just may go Sunday too anyway.
MoonDragn 02-26-2009, 09:11 AM So who was it that kept saying Marty was not on Injury Reserve?
Richer's Ghost 02-26-2009, 09:14 AM So who was it that kept saying Marty was not on Injury Reserve?
Lou did originally. Everyone was throwing around high dollar D-men that we could afford thanks to the salary saved by having Marty on the LTIR and Lou stated he would not be placing Marty on LTIR thus not saving any salary to make such moves.
We now are all a tad bit more smarter as we understand the following terms better;
Long Term Injured Reserve
Injury Reserve
Emergency Recall
Waivers
