-He actually sounds like he's leaning toward selling. Nothing specific, but a lot of little things he talks about.
-As has been mentioned before, if they do sell they'll be looking for near-NHL ready guys. They're not that interested in draft picks, as they have lots of good young forwards to add to.
-He expects things to get more serious in a couple of days. Up until now teams have been mostly fishing, seeing what's out there.
-The Ducks have a lot of players in demand. Good players on a team that might sell. A lot of phone calls. Actually, no phone calls yesterday morning, then nonstop from like 2-8:30.
-They don't have near enough depth in the AHL. They need to work on that. They started to address it last year, with all the trading down to get more guys.

The thing is, when we used to play like crap as we are now, Giggy used to bail us out. So I'm actually somewhat interested to see if he can do it like the old days.

That was an awesome shift by the second line keeping Buffalo deep in their own zone the whole time.

It is a good thing to see Giggy play like himself again, good win even though we got outplayed most of the night. Brown and Marchant played awesome, as well as Giggy

I only saw the third period, but I thought they were fantastic in that period. After the five-minute mark they really shut the door. Winning board battles, grinding it out down low, good, effective first passes. They looked extremely solid.

The shortie absolutely killed the Sabres, they completely gave up from that point on.

Giguere wins that game by shutting the door early when it was ALL Buffalo. Or maybe Lalime losses it by sucking. Same difference in the end.

Chances are nothing will happen. Carlyle said it looked like Gaustad got Getzlaf with his shoulder, but it also looked like he left his feet. It was a Duck who got injured and not the other way around, so no harm, no foul (no pun intended).

QUESTIONABLE HIT

The Ducks were none too happy with a hit by Gaustad in the game’s final 15 seconds that left center Ryan Getzlaf with a broken nose and a nasty facial cut.

“That’s one that’s going to be looked at very closely because Gaustad left his feet and hit him with a shoulder, blindsided him,” Carlyle said. “It may look like he (Gaustad) got hurt on it. Look at the replay. He’s in the air after he hits him (Getzlaf). So it was one of those that we’re going to have to take a look at.”

While Gaustad received no penalty, the NHL could choose to impose supplementary discipline.

Getzlaf, still bleeding and clutching a towel to his face long after the game ended, said he “was fine.”

Buffalo star of the game is Kotalik. The one I wanted us to get last season to fill the 2nd line wing spot (before Bertuzzi). Although he's never been a + player in his entire career.

It did seem like a pretty cheap move. He chased him down the ice and Getzlaf didn't have the puck. Not even close.

The best part is how Gaustad acted hurt so no one would think he did it on purpose. What a pansy.

All in all it was a hard fought win that the boys needed.

Gaustad's hit was dirty as ****, Selanne, JSG, Marchant and Mikey Beats all played a great game.

It feels weird to not even really be happy after a win, maybe 3 more in a row and I'll have a more positive outlook.

Not trying to be a dick or anything, but it was a dirty hit, no question. He left his feet and turned right into Getzlaf. Carlyle was actually more pissed off then I've seen him in a while. He went over to Parros and told him something, then Parros stood up and started yapping at Gaustad.

Some other notes from this game:

I thought Pronger had an off night. S.Niedermayer was kind of invisible. Didn't notice him to much, which is really odd.

For the most part the top line was pretty invisible. They kept trying to cycle along the boards, and never really got anything going.

Marchant's line was awesome though. Him and Mike Brown were the best two players tonight IMO. Morrsion wasn't bad either, but he's being paid to be a 2nd line center, so some good 3rd line work will get no praise from me.

Jiggy was solid, but not spectacular like the announcers were saying. He got lucky twice when they hit the post, and he had way to many rebounds. He was solid though.

Hedican is quickly becoming my most hated player on the Ducks roster. I thought Salcido looked great when he's played, yet they replace him with Hedican. He's been nothing but a dissapointment. Remember when he was supposed to pick up the slack that OD had filled in the past? Wasn't long after that, that RC said Hedican would not play with Pronger anymore.

“Definitely, he (Gaustad) blindsided Getzlaf. The puck wasn’t anywhere near him. He (Gaustad) jumped in the air and tried to deliver a shoulder hit, and I don’t know if it was his shoulder that hit him in the nose or if it was his helmet, but he clearly was in the air after he hit him. I think more than anything it was in frustration from their point of view. There were 15 seconds left in the game and we’re putting the puck into their zone.”
