The guy was rumored today to have been one of the alternatives to replace Renney as head coach for the Rangers. I'm sure many of you remember your Devils history: he was behind the bench for the Devils during our miracle playoff run in 1988, famously barking at Don Koharski and pissing off the rest of the officiating corps with his court injunction the game after.

As much as I hate the Rangers, my respect for them would have shot up 100-fold if they got such a classic coach/Devils legend as Schoenfeld behind the bench. Anyone agree/disagree?

I like Schoenfeld though.

hes one of the assistants now and hes been their assistant GM for awhile i think

God no. Schoenfeld will take over PP duties, but only for the rest of the year. He was 1st choice for the job apparently.
