Should they even care anymore?
Buck Naked 02-21-2009, 03:29 PM Go Getzlaf, Ryan, Perry, Teemu, Hiller....that is all.
Jerky Leclerc 02-21-2009, 04:04 PM Should they even care anymore?
I am sure John Tavares cares!
iHATEbeauch23 02-21-2009, 05:00 PM Dallas announcer pretty much said it all. "Anaheim, who can't win to save their life"
ericnut 02-21-2009, 05:20 PM Must win! :sarcasm:
Pepper 02-21-2009, 05:28 PM Worst possible result: an iffy 4-3 win with a lucky goal.
I hope the game ends 6-0, doesn't matter who wins.
Mise en echec 02-21-2009, 05:57 PM I need you guys to win for me to stay alive in my hockey pool
Buck Naked 02-21-2009, 06:01 PM Like Pepper said, 6-0 either way.
Sevat 02-21-2009, 06:09 PM 12 - 0 Columbus.
I need you guys to win for me to stay alive in my hockey pool
That is exactly why this team should win!
karacter 02-21-2009, 06:41 PM I'll be at the game... They better not disappoint either way... Either be amazing or atrocious
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 06:49 PM Ducks have a chance here but they will be tired today.
Anything can happen. Teemu should score.
NHL RULEZ 02-21-2009, 06:55 PM yahoo says that giggy is in net if anyone can confirm this please message ASAP thanks.
Talentless Practise 02-21-2009, 06:59 PM Ok guys, let's lay a huge egg tonight!!
Edit. on a related note, anybody know where Columbus is?
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 07:04 PM Giguere in net.
Team meeting: optional skate: nobody showed up. hmm ...
Hollander 02-21-2009, 07:04 PM yahoo says that giggy is in net if anyone can confirm this please message ASAP thanks.
Confirmed.
Pronger scores on the PP.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 07:12 PM Pronger Scores !! 1-0
Wow, 1st goal 2 nights in a row.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 07:15 PM Good pressure by the Ducks for a while and a couple of chances to increase the lead. Salcido looking pretty good so far.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 07:17 PM Carter scratched again...
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 07:18 PM Looks like they give a **** tonight. Too little too late as usual.
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 07:20 PM I love fighting.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 07:22 PM Pleasantries are being exchanged. Nash and Pronger are getting into it. Pronger and Brookbank in the box; Malhotra for the Jackets.
The team seems to just have realized that they want to make the playoffs.
Sevat 02-21-2009, 07:22 PM His name is SHELDON BROOKBANK, NOT WADE BROOKBANK!!!
Christ.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 07:22 PM Stupid Ducks Again.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 07:24 PM PK looked OK (or the Jackets PP completely sucks).
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 07:25 PM Wow nasty hit on Ryan. Somebody needs to take exception to that.
Talentless Practise 02-21-2009, 07:25 PM Ryan cannot turn his back like that..
hopefully thid game explodes, though. :naughty:
Hollander 02-21-2009, 07:26 PM PP for the Ducks coming up. Good time to increase the lead!
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 07:26 PM Ryan needs to score on Mason for the Rookie honors.
Here comes a power play, time to score.
Somebody get RC a cup of coffee and an aspirin.
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 07:30 PM Wtf Morrison scored.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 07:30 PM 2-0 Ducks
Morrison, Salcido
Congrats to Brian 1st NHL point :)
A lucky bounce for us!? What's going on tonight!
Salcido a point!
Pepper 02-21-2009, 07:31 PM Morrison with a fluke goal, what a suprise.
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 07:31 PM Congrats to Salcido for his first NHL point.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 07:31 PM Goal by Sucky McSuck; 2-0 Ducks.
Talentless Practise 02-21-2009, 07:32 PM Congrats to Salsa for the assist. Morrison, you still suck.
hockeydemon05 02-21-2009, 07:32 PM Gah, stop with the false hope ;)
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 07:33 PM Wow Ducks are playing like they give a **** tonight.
Talentless Practise 02-21-2009, 07:34 PM Wow Ducks are playing like they give a **** tonight.
Yeah, wtf is with that? Moen looks like an NHL'er for a change now.
Pepper 02-21-2009, 07:34 PM Looks great so far, Morrison's trade value went from -1000 to -900, if he keeps up we don't have to give up a 1st rounder to get rid of him at the deadline.
Mise en echec 02-21-2009, 07:35 PM Looks like I'm gonna advance to the next week of my pool :)
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 07:36 PM Looks like I'm gonna advance to the next week of my pool :)
I wouldn't make that bet at this point of the game.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 07:36 PM I know it's early but I'm really liking Salsa so far. Hopefully he can stick around for a while.
Doothpick 02-21-2009, 07:36 PM Damn, can't even remeber last time when we led by 2 goals
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 07:37 PM Boll is a chicken **** loser.
Nice job Moen.
hockeydemon05 02-21-2009, 07:37 PM Dirty hit by Boll.
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 07:37 PM I love the Ducks play this game, if this is the type of play we'll see from here on out we will make the playoffs.
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 07:39 PM The instigator penalty needs to go.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 07:43 PM Mikkelson is getting killed. Fall down stupid.
Refs will ruin the game during the period break by warning the locker rooms.
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 07:43 PM Wow I hope Mikkelson never fights again.
Talentless Practise 02-21-2009, 07:43 PM What the **** Mikkelsson? You just embarrassed yourself bigtime.
Why is it always our non-fighters decide to get their ***** handed to them when we have plenty of fighters on the roster.
Pepper 02-21-2009, 07:44 PM Anyone see shades of Kurt Sauer in that fight by Mikkelsson?
Sevat 02-21-2009, 07:44 PM Sure he got his ass kicked, but he really, really sent a message to the team I think.
If this young kid steps up for his teammates and obviously can't fight but tries anyway and shows some heart, maybe it makes some other older players open their eyes a bit.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 07:46 PM 2-1 Goal waved off.
hockeydemon05 02-21-2009, 07:46 PM Players are allowed to make calls now? Interesting...the refs need to grow a pair of balls there. Good job on Pronger there. No one should run the goalie.
hockeydemon05 02-21-2009, 07:47 PM Well at least they held up the original call there.
Buck Naked 02-21-2009, 07:49 PM Now this is a game! Too bad it came 60 games into the season.
Good job by Mikkelson, showing some balls. Anyone who says Mikkelson embarassed himself, fighting a guy who fights ALL the time, doesn't know what the hell they are talking about.
hockeydemon05 02-21-2009, 07:53 PM Now this is a game! Too bad it came 60 games into the season.
Good job by Mikkelson, showing some balls. Anyone who says Mikkelson embarassed himself, fighting a guy who fights ALL the time, doesn't know what the hell they are talking about.
Yeah, Mikkelson did the right thing. But, the fight that ensued may encourage Dorsett to take more runs, so hopefully someone else fights Dorsett next.
In the situation, Mikkelson did alright. And Murray looks like funny, but at least he's being somewhat honest. So no, Rebuild he says, but a "tweak"...
hockeydemon05 02-21-2009, 07:55 PM God dammit, Fire Carlyle! (Murray said his job is safe...)
Jerky Leclerc 02-21-2009, 07:55 PM Bob Murray needs to take public speaking class.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 07:56 PM Bob Murray is a dope.
Chooses this lame coach over his players. Why not light a fire under RC as well?
hockeydemon05 02-21-2009, 07:59 PM I know, Murray doesn't seem like a good GM.
He said that Niederamayer has a tough decision to make this summer. Well, we need a decision now...not this summer.
In my opinion he should have a deadline plan already (he might, but from what he said he doesn't).
And he stands by Carlyle, before the players. Which to me doesn't make too much sense.
Then again, he is the GM, and I'm just a fan speculating...
Talentless Practise 02-21-2009, 08:01 PM Good job by Mikkelson, showing some balls. Anyone who says Mikkelson embarassed himself, fighting a guy who fights ALL the time, doesn't know what the hell they are talking about.Had he fought Dorsett that would have been okay. Sheepishly getting your ass handed to you while being 5 inches taller and 20+ pounds heavier is lame and embarrassing.
Sevat 02-21-2009, 08:02 PM Bob Murray is a dope.
Chooses this lame coach over his players. Why not light a fire under RC as well?
AWESOME avatar man, awesome!!!
I know, Murray doesn't seem like a good GM.
He said that Niederamayer has a tough decision to make this summer. Well, we need a decision now...not this summer.
A GM isn't going to talk about anything in the press.
hockeydemon05 02-21-2009, 08:09 PM A GM isn't going to talk about anything in the press.
Well yeah, but his overall demeanor was lacking something. Like he lacked confidence and didn't seem to be someone that looks ahead. Just what I saw and my opinion. Don't look into it too much haha
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 08:11 PM Kunitz looks real good on the PK tonight.
byungshin34 02-21-2009, 08:17 PM looks like they want to give the pk a good workout.
Buck Naked 02-21-2009, 08:19 PM Had he fought Dorsett that would have been okay. Sheepishly getting your ass handed to you while being 5 inches taller and 20+ pounds heavier is lame and embarrassing.
Have you ever been in a hockey fight? You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Dorsett is a fighter, Mikkelson is not. I garauntee you none of his teamates, coaches or GM feel Mikk "embarrassed" himself. Did he fight well? No, but at least he's willing to get his ass beat for his teamates. It's not like he took one punch on his head and turtled.

I agree. I think the point is he showed guts. Size doesn't mean anything if you don't know how to fight. Look at Hossa.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 08:23 PM Parros v. Boll - meh
Too bad Boll didn't get it good, he deserves it.
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 08:24 PM Parros fights Boll. Edge Parros. Boll is a piece of ****.
Talentless Practise 02-21-2009, 08:25 PM You drop the gloves, no-one cares whether you're a fighter or not or if the person you're fighting is a fighter or not.
Dorsett embarrassed Mikkelson in that fight, like it or not.
Edit. Cowering and hiding your head like that doesn't exactly scream "balls and guts"
Buck Naked 02-21-2009, 08:27 PM You drop the gloves, no-one cares whether you're a fighter or not or if the person you're fighting is a fighter or not.
Dorsett embarrassed Mikkelson in that fight, like it or not.
Edit. Cowering and hiding your head like that doesn't exactly scream "balls and guts"
Lol alrighty then, go play a team sport some time.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 08:27 PM Well yeah, but his overall demeanor was lacking something. Like he lacked confidence and didn't seem to be someone that looks ahead. Just what I saw and my opinion. Don't look into it too much haha
Yeah, he seemed nervous and he looked like he was sweating bullets :)
Aaarggh! Another penalty.
Talentless Practise 02-21-2009, 08:28 PM Lol alrighty then, go play a team sport some time.
Nice comeback. You got nothing.
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 08:29 PM 2-1 dammit that was an amazing shot by Nash.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 08:29 PM 2-1 Goal
Nice goal ref ..
Hollander 02-21-2009, 08:30 PM Well, that was about to happen at this rate. Nash froma sharp angle on the PP. 2-1 Ducks.
You can't take these many penalties and expect the other team to not get one.
Buck Naked 02-21-2009, 08:30 PM Nice comeback. You got nothing.
You obviously don't understand the concept of standing up for your teamates, so whats the use in trying to convice you?
Here comes the collapse.
Buck Naked 02-21-2009, 08:32 PM The twins strike!
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 08:32 PM Perry Scores 3-1 :)
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 08:32 PM 3-1 now perry with a semi breakaway
Niedermayer with a great pass to Perry.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 08:33 PM Perry scores! Nice comeback after a good shift. First shot of 2nd period for the Ducks.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 08:33 PM You obviously don't understand the concept of standing up for your teamates, so whats the use in trying to convice you?
:deadhorse:
Talentless Practise 02-21-2009, 08:35 PM You obviously don't understand the concept of standing up for your teamates, so whats the use in trying to convice you?
I do. If i drop the gloves, it's because i didn't like what an opponent was doing to my teammates. I drop the gloves with the intention of punching the guy, not because it's easier to hold on to his shirt while he's punching me in the head repeatedly.
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 08:36 PM 4-1 Kunitz
Buck Naked 02-21-2009, 08:37 PM Nice.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 08:37 PM Great play by Getzlaf-Perry-Kunitz. 4-1 Ducks. Great time to get another one.
Talentless Practise 02-21-2009, 08:38 PM Kunitz is not a top-6 player ;)
He's having a hell of a game
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 08:38 PM Ducks helping Baby Ryan with the Rookie Trophy. :)
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 08:39 PM Niedermayer is having a pretty solid game so far.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 08:40 PM Niedermayer is having a pretty solid game so far.
What else is new, his critics are morons.
Dirk316 02-21-2009, 08:42 PM I do. If i drop the gloves, it's because i didn't like what an opponent was doing to my teammates. I drop the gloves with the intention of punching the guy, not because it's easier to hold on to his shirt while he's punching me in the head repeatedly.
Dorset tied him up pretty good and he really couldnt even attempt to throw a punch. I think it showed some guts as he was the only player close to Dorset. Did you see the bench afterwords?
I hope the kids takes some fighting lessons in the offseason though
Talentless Practise 02-21-2009, 08:48 PM Did you see the bench afterwords?I saw both. Theirs was fired up while ours was "good effort, kid".
Amazing how much easier hockey is when you move your feet. I don't remember a single game this year when they had this kinda jump in their step.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 08:50 PM Tired group into the locker room.
Good effort there in the late 2nd.
Hope they have enough for the last five minute McFlurry.
Go Ducks!
Dirk316 02-21-2009, 08:56 PM I like the game Salcido and Montador are having this game and also it seems every game Brookbank has been pretty reliable as well
Hollander 02-21-2009, 09:01 PM And we're off to a good start. Double minor to Kunitz.
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 09:01 PM Jiggy is playing much better tonight thankfully.
Pepper 02-21-2009, 09:01 PM For ****s sake Kunitz, keep your ****ing stick down!
What a selfish, dumb penalty.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 09:03 PM Yep, there we go. 4-2 Ducks and one PK left...
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 09:03 PM Wow we just let Huselius walk right in and score.
Talentless Practise 02-21-2009, 09:03 PM Jiggy is playing much better tonight thankfully.
..until tha goal by Huselius
Hollander 02-21-2009, 09:06 PM Brown almost shorthanded but he misses; great save by Mason.
Ducks kill the penalty off.
Edit: not that great of a save; Brown should've lifted the puck...
Selanne has been very quiet tonight.
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 09:08 PM **** Getzlaf is hurt.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 09:08 PM Getzlaf hit by a puck; hopefully not too serious.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 09:09 PM **** Getzlaf is hurt.
No. Hobbled.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 09:11 PM He was back on the bench real quick; I think he walked away because he wanted some rest :)
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 09:12 PM Selanne has been very quiet tonight.
The whole second line has been pretty invisible.
byungshin34 02-21-2009, 09:12 PM Wow they have 7 powerplays to our 2. Thank you refs.
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 09:15 PM Ryan scores on Mason 5-2.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 09:15 PM Rookie of the Year! Done.
Buck Naked 02-21-2009, 09:15 PM big bob!
Hollander 02-21-2009, 09:15 PM Nice breakaway and Ryan scores. 5 goals on 12 shots; not too shabby :)
Wow they have 7 powerplays to our 2. Thank you refs.
The Ducks deserved those penalties, not the refs' fault. Columbus has been playing pretty conservative.
Bobby Ryan scores!
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 09:23 PM McFlurry Time !!!!
Tonight's game will screw up the chart.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 09:31 PM Ducks Win !!
Congrats to Brian for 1st NHL Point
Congrats Perry
Good Effort Today
Paul4587 02-21-2009, 09:33 PM Ducks effort in the first was awesome, the second and third periods were ok apart from all the penalties.
Masons save percentage ended up at 61.5%.
Hollander 02-21-2009, 09:35 PM Good effort by the Ducks in the first and third periods and the end of the second. Four more wins on this trip and we'll be buyers at the deadline :)
Mise en echec 02-21-2009, 09:35 PM :handclap:
Pepper 02-21-2009, 09:36 PM Ducks Win !!
Congrats to Brian for 1st NHL Point
Congrats Perry
Good Effort Today
Good effort?? Uhhh, I'd say it was pretty bad.
Stupid penalties, sloppy defense and not much offense.
The only bright point was the number of goals scored.
caliamad 02-21-2009, 09:46 PM I liked the Brookbank / Mikkelson pairing... NOT.... Huelius made Brookbank look like a Pylon.
I know Murray was trying to find a physical defenseman when he acquired Brookbank, but he looks.... how can I put this... limited...
Salcido looked very good to me tonight, but he was probably put in very good situations. He looks smallish but he his instincts are probably the best of Mikkelson, Festerling, and himself.
That 2nd line scares me, almost every shift it seems like they almost score or goal or give up a goal. I know we hate Morrison, but I think he's better choice to put between Selanne and Ryan. You can't have 3 guys thinking offense with so many rookie Dman/Brookbank on the blue line.
Was it just wierd line shifts or did it look like Parros was playing some time with Marchant and Niedermayer. I'm glad the coach is finally going away from the "shutdown" line menality.
I'd really like to see a duck lineup of:
R. Niedermayer Getzlaf Perry
Ryan Morrison Getzlaf
Kunitz Ebbett Carter
Parros Marchant Brown/Moen
Niedermayer Salcido
Pronger Mikkelson
Montador Brookbank

wtf combinations
Spankatola Jamnuts 02-21-2009, 09:58 PM Brookbank could never play again, that'd be okay. He's terrible. Mikkelson's almost as bad. Otherwise, good job.
caliamad 02-21-2009, 10:02 PM At least Mikkelson has some upside. Brookbank seems like a filler in every sense of the word. If he doesn't knock people on their ass he has no business being in the lineup.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 10:07 PM Good effort?? Uhhh, I'd say it was pretty bad.
Stupid penalties, sloppy defense and not much offense.
The only bright point was the number of goals scored.
Back to back games, same netminder, lots of sucessful pks, yah good effort.
And scoring goals and blocking shots is still the objective. :)
Good effort?? Uhhh, I'd say it was pretty bad.
Stupid penalties, sloppy defense and not much offense.
The only bright point was the number of goals scored.
I agree with Pepper. We were lucky the Jackets didn't capitalize on most of their chances. We can't take that luxury against some teams, the amount of penalties we took tonight was just stupid. Stupid and unnecessary penalties.
Lyons71 02-21-2009, 11:45 PM After this one win, 2 or 3 straight losses aught to do it.
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 11:47 PM I agree with Pepper. We were lucky the Jackets didn't capitalize on most of their chances. We can't take that luxury against some teams, the amount of penalties we took tonight was just stupid. Stupid and unnecessary penalties.
And there was plenty of good effort. We have taken stupid penalties for two years, big deal. We killed the penalties and scored goals. So the team wasn't perfect, they haven't been for two seasons. To deny giving credit against a tough team is asinine.
“This feels great. After a tough loss yesterday, tonight was a must-win game,” he said. “We answered the bell. We were physical, we fought, we scored some goals. It was a big road game. We have to have that kind of effort.” - Js Giguere
Mooseduck 02-21-2009, 11:54 PM Ducks may get a break on Tuesday.
Ryan Miller left the game tonight with a high ankle sprain. Wth some luck, he will miss the game against the Ducks.
Best wishes in recovery to Miller, a great netminder.
I agree with Pepper. We were lucky the Jackets didn't capitalize on most of their chances. We can't take that luxury against some teams, the amount of penalties we took tonight was just stupid. Stupid and unnecessary penalties.
The Jackets have the worst power play in the league and the Ducks got EVERY bounce. Still feels good to win for once.
On Murray being nervous/unsure during his interview I completely got the impression that it was from him trying to figure out a good way to avoid the questions. He clearly didn't want to answer any of them.
snarktacular 02-22-2009, 01:06 AM Should they even care anymore?
You're looking at it the wrong way.
We want the UFAs to play better, so they'll fetch more when we sell!
Sadly I think the key to them winning was the fact that I didn't get to watch any of the game. Hmm.
ktulu98 02-22-2009, 04:58 AM I liked the Brookbank / Mikkelson pairing... NOT.... Huelius made Brookbank look like a Pylon.

Right winger Derek Dorsett had his most lopsided fight of the season Saturday when he pummeled Anaheim's Brendan Mikkelson with a series of right hands.
"I know he's not that tough a guy, but I've played against him for a long time," Dorsett said. "He was following me around, asking me to fight. You can't let a guy like that run around. You have to keep him honest."

Yeah, Mikkelson picked that fight and kept trying to egg Dorsett on. They've fought before as well, haha.
