No relation.

Yeah I figured that. There would have been a mention of his brother in the article if that was the case.

I played against him in High School. He had like 5 points against us.

"He's a really solid two-way player, really strong out there on the puck and can handle himself physically," van Riemsdyk says. "He definitely made an impression on me."

Definitely wouldn't fit on our club.:sarcasm:

So if he is drafted in the first round that would make it 5 straight years of having a Jersey boy drafted in the 1st round, right?

It says it in the article... duh. :shakehead

He was absolutely sick at my high school. The kid's the real deal. He doesn't let his size deter him from playing a physical game. Sound familiar? However, if memory serves me correctly, I think he's a Ranger fan.:(

This kid is the real deal. He is on the top of my list for players I want drafted this year.

He is also a Devils fan.

He is also a Devils fan.

So which is it?

God I hope it's the latter and not the former. :shakehead

The only prospect/draftee from NJ that I can recall actually admitting to the sacrilege of being a NYR fan was Bobby Sanguinetti and he's NYR property.

My friend who played with him said he was a Devils fan. Not sure who the other person's source was though.

Uhm, people want to update our defense for the playoffs, and now they want to add a center to the wishlist, and you really think we'll have a first round pick left to nab this guy? We can't have it both ways. Although he does seem like a good choice.

Well, update the defense for the present, yes. This kid wouldn't be ready to play for another 1-3 years minimum at the NHL level. So, why wouldn't the Devs like a two-way forward that has some offensive touch?? According to the article and central scouting, he would be a late 1st round selection. So, your theory that he wouldn't be around when NJ picks is out the door. NJ typically picks in the late teens or twenties in the first round.

I spoke to people who know the kid and the family quite well...He's a rangers fan. But, who cares.

Oh, that will change once he starts earning a NJD paycheck.

The NYR will end up being just a silly childhood fantasy of his.

This kid sounds interesting. The fact that he's a local boy makes it more intriguing.

Also, we know how terrible the NYR scouts and mgt are. They couldn't see talent if it were standing in their living room.

Bite your tongue now. They actually have very good scouting. In the last 6 years alone, they selected that stud Captain of Dartmouth for all the intangibles and leadership qualities he brings, not to mention that cant-miss University of Michigan goalie who will one day compete for the Vezina and most certainly for the Hart.

Hugh Jessiman over Zach Parise. Enough said.

Well then that probably throws my theory out the window because my friend was probably just talking out of his ass.

Draft for talent, make free agent signings and trades to fill in the immediate holes.
