Andrew Ebbett...can he be the 2nd line center next season?

He has certainly impressed me. 16 points in 27 games, while not spectacular, was much more than I was expecting.

Anyone think he could handle the role next season (maybe even this season if the Ducks do manage to make the playoffs)?

He could get the job done, but it wouldn't be ideal. However, if we can add to our god awful defense more by saving money with him there then I'm all for it.

They can pretty much find out by playing Ryan-Ebbett-Selanne for the remainder of the season. (Please Randy, pleeeaaase). I think he deserves a shot at least. Besides, if he does work out, they can maybe get some offensive talent on the 3rd line too, nevermind improving the defense bigtime.

Kunitz-Getz-Perry =14.5M
Ryan-Ebbett-Selanne =5M

Under 20M for the top-2 lines is a bargain.

He already has 4 points less than Morrison as well. In about 25 less games.

Great idea... We need to definitely try that out and if they work like we all think they can under 20M for top 2 lines is definitely good.

I think he's performed more than well enough to be penciled into that slot. The top two lines going into next season are a no brainer, assuming Kunitz doesn't get dealt.

In fact, while I think the bottom-six need some retooling, I think the solutions are all in-house. It's the D that needs the help and investment.

I think it's worth a shot, our second line centre is the least of our problems at the moment and if he can build chemistry with Ryan and Selanne for next year I'm all for it.

Over an 82 game season he's on pace for 55 points which is very reasonable for a second liner with minimal PP time and a cap hit of 500k.

As far as I'm concerned he already is our second line center. I think with ample PP time he could put up 60 points or more. He's awesome in the circle and actually hits his passes. Honestly, what more does a second line center need to do?

This guy has literally come out of nowhere and looks like hes Anaheim's 2nd line center now....nice. I love underdog stories like this...hopefully he continues to succeed.

With a bunch of contracts expiring, we should be able to pick up a decent 2nd line center to compliment selanne. I will strangle Bob Murray if he resigns BMO

Barring any injury, I don't see how he isn't the 2nd center next year. He's had great chemistry with Ryan, better performance than I expected and he's cheap.

While i have been very impressed with ebbett, it may be interesting to see what comes of Kontiola, he is a good young center, pretty good playmaker, and may beat out ebbett as number 2 center.

Possible, but unlikely. Ebbett would have to have an absolutely horrible camp to lose his spot to an AHL player.

What I think is the real battle will be between Ebbett and Christensen for that second line center spot. Its obvious EC doesn't like to / can't play on the wing and he's not a good fit on the 3rd or 4th line.
