Hello Ducks fans! I am writing now for HF and just recently had my first article posted for the team. I am a Flyers fan at heart but I enjoy the game of hockey and it was a pleasure researching your prospects and finding out about them. I hope you enjoy the article and I welcome any comments or suggestions. That Gardiner kid looks to be a terrific future player, by the way!

Great read, thank you for the article.

I love hearing great things about Gardiner, possibly more than any other prospect. On one side, we really need him to reach his potential to solidify our D-corps. However, the biggest reason for me is that he was drafted with our first pick from the Penner offer sheet. If Gardiner reaches his high potential ceiling, and throws more egg on Lowe/Oiler fans faces, I'll be one happy man.

I always love to hear about feuds with Edmonton. ;)

Gardiner just seems like an all-around solid prospect. It's clear he is a puck mover and could certainly make an NHL career off of that. I am always leery with NCAA prospects because the transition to NHL is just astronomical. It's bad enough from juniors but it is even worse for NCAA prospects. The guys with the skill AND drive make it...but its tough.

If Gardiner can improve, spend a year or two in AHL, and really bulk up his frame -- you'll have a solid player there.

Wow, very good read. Nice job.

Thanks for the kind words. It's my first professional article also.

I have no writing experience, but as a young teenager I did all kinds of writing, and then was in plenty of business writing courses in college. So I have a bit of experience, I suppose.

Thanks for the update.

The Ducks have invested a lot of their picks in young d-men, so it's good to hear how they are developing.

Ditto on the fine article. I really enjoyed reading you perspective on our prospects.

In the case of Mitera, what is your experience concerning the effectiveness of players coming back from ACL surgery. Do the players generally improve from the injury or does it seriously affect their career?

solid article there man. I too like reading about Gardiner and personally I really think NCAA prospects are where more and more solid NHLers will be coming from. Ton of great programs and lately it seems like there is a solid influx of guys who are making noise in the NHL who come from the NCAA.

Gardiner is a really solid prospect and with time (cause imo that's all he needs), he'll be a really solid player for the Ducks. Some of his end to end rushes are a joy to watch.

Gardiner is a project, if we are patient with him like we were Bobby Ryan there is a good chance he will pan out, his talent is high end, he's just gotta continue learning the nuances of playing defense

Strong work, Carle. It's especially good to hear about what roles the players are playing (ie Gardiner's getting all kinds of minutes, Kampfer is more of a defensive type), that's info that's hard to get anywhere else. Especially for college players, who few people see.

It sounds like Gardiner's the only one having a good year. It's good to hear he's doing well. I have to admit I was wary about the pick. Not that I didn't like him, he just sounded kind of risky (the project pick since he has the tools, but had just moved to D). Especially since there were a few guys I coveted, even wanting them at the #12 position (Teubert, Sbisa, Carlson, all who have had pretty good years).

Hopefully he can put things together. We've had good luck so far with the last project pick that I wasn't a big fan of (Ryan).

edit: and another thing. I didn't know Kampfer also had switched positions (F to D). We had like 2 guys from 08 who also made switches (McMillon from D to F).
