Just caught the highlights of last nights game, the league seriously have to take a look at that hit??

if not its just the stereotypical show of bias against the ducks, if that were Pronger the whole media would be saying suspension!!! repeat offender!

I tend to agree that it's suspendable, but it's a bit grey. You won't find me on the main board bawling my eyes out as is customary when Pronger lets one fly.

There is no "bias against the Ducks", at least when it comes to suspensions.

Yeah, I think Phaneuf deserves a suspension (at least there should have been a penatlty! WTF?) but to bring Pronger into this doesn't really support your cause. Pronger gets off lightly most of the time.

Totally agree - Phaneuf should be suspended for at least tonight's game!!! :)

Somebody call somebody and make that happen, ok?

I only used pronger as an example because of the mcammond hit in the playoffs. also behind avery he seems to be the most hated person in the nhl

Just saw the hiLites, and I think a suspension is warrented. If Gautier got 4 games, so does Phaneuf.

Just watched that...pretty ugly, I would think it warrants a couple of games at least...

Normally I wouldn't want a suspension out of that hit. MAYBE a fine. He didn't really hit him with the elbow. He did kind of jump.

But with the NHL's supposed crackdown on hits to the head, maybe they should give him something. Although that would be asking the league to be consistent, and most people don't think it is consistent.

Yeah, I don't know if he will get it. Its tough to tell. I want him to get suspended, but at the same time it looks like he got the elbow down even though he was still going for the head.

He aimed for the head, but did it with his shoulder more. Luckily Ebbet DID see him coming at the last second, and jumped right back up un-phased.

He won't get suspended, especially since he did no apparent damage.

The most they can fine him, as per the NHLPA's rules is...wait for it......$2,500

That's not gonna have much of an impact. Thank God we have the instigator rule in place...so when both refs completely miss a call like this...no one steps in to serve up a little dish of whoop-ass on the perpitrator. And yes...that's sarcasm

I think it deserves a suspension, but I'm kinda glad he didn't because I want them to beat the Kings.

hahahahahahahahahahaha, fantastic!!! whats crazy is that out of all of it Prongs got the only penalty!!

I have it from inside source that the league is looking at it, nothing more though, so we wait to see if any action is taken

I am sure this has been mentioned but Ebbett broke his nose on the play. :amazed:
Punishment, if any, would be announced before faceoff at the Queen/Flamer game tonight.
Odds are in favor of the double-standard being applied with no penalty.

What really makes me mad is that if it was the exact same hit but Pronger was the one putting on the hit then he would for sure being suspended at least 2 games.

To be fair, I think Pronger would deserve more than Phaneuf, since he has a history of previous suspensions from high hits.

What bugs me is the "Canadian media" syndrome. It seems like whenever a Canadian player is the target, the Canadian media gets involved. Public pressure leads to a suspension, when none would have been given if another team were the victim. See: slew foot, Plekanec.

Perry got suspended for doing pretty much the same thing, but Phaneuf has the good fortune of not playing for the Ducks :O

Didnt know that, that's pretty brutal!! Ebbett has been really impressive i think, definitly played his way on to the team and to get up after that.

Jogged my memory, ANA vs NSH last week, Hedican got his nose broke, no penalty on the play and credit to him, went to the locker room, got a visor on and got back out there.

I found this link while looking for any news on the suspension, seems like the second time in a month hes done a questionable hit, surely first time warning, second time something has to be done???

I got bashed for using Pronger as an example, but you're right. then equally he does get off lightly on some things.

I suppose if Phaneuf doens't get any suspension or fine we'll just have to take solace in that he has Avery's "sloppy seconds".

Well I am all about equality and frankly anyone that does that kind of hit should at least be fined and out for 1 game. Whether its Chara or Kariya either way everyone should be penalized equally.

No suspension. But I found this interesting. http://www.ocregister.com/articles/ducks-game-time-2307320-nhl-sunday

NHL vice president Frank Brown said via E-mail that "all hits are evaluated" and if a player receives a fine, rather than a suspension, "the fine would not be announced."

I would like to take this opportunity to further illustrate how gay baseball is. Josh Hamilton left a game against the Angels last year because of a (wait for it):

agreed. Baseball is about as exciting as watching grass grow. The sport is a joke IMO. The steroid ******** is annoying and I can't watch sportscenter for more then 3 minutes with out hearing something about it. Amazes me at the popularity of a sport that's so lame.

Baldzlaf takes offense.

But whereas the baseball player would run away and cry from such an insult, Getzlaf would slap you silly, hold your mouth open and spit in it.

See the difference?

would he really need to hold it open? would his jaw not just be hanging there held on only by the skin after Getz had shattered it?

Double standard: his name isn't spelled "P-R-O-N-G-E-R" therefore, no suspension. I'll tell you what, if that elbow came from Pronger, the media'll be all over it and the next thing you know, the NHL'll crack and hand him a 5-gamer.

As far as I know, Hamilton hadn't just had a root canal and had two teeth removed and wasn't on antibiotics and other meds that morning.

No, it's Phaneuf Physics. It it were Pronger Physics, Phaneuf would have gotten a suspension.

looks like Phaneufs hit made hit of the week. Ah well, the double standards of the NHL strike again

I wonder if they would have put Prongs hits on Holmstrom and McAmmond as hit of the week??
