Selanne or Ryan

Hey guys i dont get to see many ducks games so im just wondering.
I know Ryan is scoring at a bit better ppg but didnt he get most of his points when he was filling in for Selanne, i see know they play the same line though, is this correct?


Who is a more valuable fantasy option from this point forward?

As much as I like both players I'd say it's Ryan. Selanne still has gas in the tank but Ryan has shown that he can provide just as much offense as Selanne can with the advantage of being younger.

Like mentioned earlier, some of those guys probably were just looking at the topic, and not duck fans. Plus some might not answer because it's REALLY hard to pick between the two. I'm hearing Ryan's name, but I disagree. Carlyle hates giving him his earned ice time, and Selanne is given golden chances by RC no matter how bad he does. Plus Selanne plays on top PP unit. I'll go with Selanne from a fantasy view, but I think Ryan is the better player.

I tend to ignore the fantasy questions that aren't posted in the "Fantasy questions" thread.

we've had the discussion hundreds of times, especially in the gameday threads. But really it's hard to answer because there is no clear cut winner, an annoyance of fantasy questions not in the fantasy thread (it happens every other day, and people really might just not want to give you bad advice. I mean there's evidence for both to be the better. IMO, Ryan is a much better player this year. Selanne has been a turnover machine with bad hands since he's been back (yeah I know it's only been a few games), still though I think Ryan has been much more effective. It doesn't matter though, from a fantasy standpoint I'd still take Selanne. Just because RC won't give Ryan the oppurtunities deserved. Selanne will get top unit powerplay time, and it's one of the best in the league. Plus when RC wants to score bad, he puts Selanne on Getzlaf's line, not Ryan.

Ryan is better now but in all fairness to selanne his on his last couple of yrs so I see him passing the puck more, but he is still a hell of a player :handclap:

The answer is Ryan. The reasoning doesn't need to be discussed - watch the two of them play. Ryan is going to put up more points, and is playing better.

Carlyle does lean towards using Selanne more (which I would say is a mistake right now) but Selanne just isn't that effective right now. Even earlier in the season before his injury he was primarily a PP producer, and accomplished very little at even strength. Now, he's not doing either. Now, I expect him to get some of it back, but I don't think he will put up more points than Ryan from here on out.
