I'm sure there are those of you who are convinced that we'll lose because Randy Carlyle is coaching and Morrison is playing and Bobby Ryan deserves 38 minutes of ice time per night and the Sabres are breathing a sigh of relief because they no longer have to face the specter of doom that is Nathan McIver.

Well, you're all retarded. Except for you, Dirk. You're just a motto that became sentient and has internet access.

Anyway, haven't seen the Sabres in a while, should be good.

He sat out of practice yesterday because of the flu according to the OC Register blog. Probably the reason why he isn't playing today.

It should be exciting. Hopefully Parros steps up. He was invisible up until he started yelling from the bench. I'm pretty sure this period is going to start 4 on 4 though. It looked like Moen and one of the Sabres got a penalty at the end of all that scrum. Ducks need to keep their heads though. This is a game where we need to come out with at least a point.

Giguere needs to be a part of some of those wins if this team wants to succeed at all...if we make the playoffs I really dont see Hiller taking us too far unless he gets ridiculously hot. I have a feeling with that last goal Giguere will start the next game, though he may have been scheduled to anyway.

Three more games this week? Jesus at this rate we'll be done by valentines day. Why is it the last couple years Anaheim is always three games ahead of everyone else, its lame. It was nice in 05-06 when it was the other way around and we had a bunch of games in hand, it seemed like it gave the team motivation instead of looking over their shoulders.

Was at the game. Pronger and Neids were great all over the place and Montador is solidifying himself as a legit top 4 D-man. This guy needs to be signed asap. He actually reminds me of a tougher Beachamin both cant really fight too well though. Festerling and Mikkelson again looked over matched and generally not NHL caliber players. Top line controlled the play whenever they are on the ice and Carter did not look out of place on the checking line. Miller was being Miller as usual :shakehead
Was a pleasant surprise to find out Morrison was healthy scratched though :handclap: Is Carlyle stupid or stupid? :dunno:

I don't care what accolades you point to, he's a homer. Just because he has hockey knowledge and makes the game entertaining doesn't make him less a homer. Like I said in the initial post, we have them in buffalo too and our guys are both 30 year veterans. Both are colorful and fantastic to listen to. They're also homers, but your guys are even worse. Your announcers weren't homers at all, I think some Buffalo fans are just upset because of the loss. They actually disputed a lot of the calls that favored the Ducks. RJ would NEVER do that.

A pretty decent game even though the Sabres shriveled. We had our backup in net and 4 of our top-6 D are hurt as well as a top 6 forward. The rematch in Buffalo should be another good one.

So is Hiller your starter now? He looked a little shaky but really wasn't tested all that much.

The coach is giving Giguere motivation it appears. Hiller has not been good the last 4 games. The Ducks have managed to win 3 with average goaltending.

Your reasoning is and always has been faulty, Dirk. You really need to get past your biases and look at things a little more objectively. Miller played fine tonight for his role. He isnt a scorer. He was on the fourth line and his job was to forecheck and have some energy. He did that, the fourth line played well. He missed some chances, but so did everyone, especially Perry, who flubbed a couple pucks with an empty net staring at him. Does that mean Im comparing both of those players abilities? If you dont know the answer to that already then I cant help you.

Well you brought Perry for some reason not sure why?
Perry job is to forecheck and score he did both and usually does of course he's not going to put the puck in every opportunity
Miller's did not forecheck nor bring any energy. He blew some glorious chances that even Parros would have converted at least one but thats his usual. You dont think its a waste to have him on the 4th line and not a more physical player? Look i think Miller isnt as bad as i make him out to be but he's the most borderline NHL'er ive ever seen.

Sabres fans blaming the refs for the loss is hilarious...nevermind the fact that the team had one shot in over 20 minutes of play at one point, that had nothing to do with it. Blaming the referees is so ridiculous, there is always something the team could have done to have won the game.

Morrison for future considerations for all I care. And that can be someone buying our GM a coke at the game, don't even half to include the hot dog.

Seriously though, Montador is getting better, but he is not a top 4 defensemen. He turns the puck over to much to be that role IMO. Personally I think a pairing of Huskins and Montador is ideal for the last pairing. I don't want either of those two in the top 4.

You're defense is pretty badass, and they were missing a few guys. I definitely could see myself rooting for the Sabres if the Ducks are eliminated and they are still in.

I remember the last couple of years before this when I didn't have center ice. The only times I got to watch their games were when they played Dallas (local FSN) and when they were on the yahoo stream. Anyway I would always hear people trash our announcers. Personally I don't think they are bad at all. Yeah they are homers, but every team's announcers are homers. What makes a bad announcer is someone who continually talks down about the visiting team. To me, the two that come to mind are Razor (the stars announcer) and the Pens commentator. Those guys bash the visiting team every time I hear them in a game. Now Razor only does it when he's doing it for the Stars, not when he's on Versus. Personally I think Hazy is pretty decent. He has his annoying moments, but he's pretty good IMO.

Yeah. With the 1A 1B, thing, it seems to me that coaches start the guy who wins. If Carlyle were just using it as a wakeup call, Giguere would have started against Colorado, after the point was made with the back-to-back.

I thought the same thing, but then there was the Phoenix-Chicago back-to-back. Also considering that Hiller gave up a soft goal or two against Phoenix.
