Selanne could conceivably dress and be used sparingly, such as on the power play. When he does return the team will have to determine who to pair him with on the second line.

Usually the refs in the NHL use the stick as a reference point when watching the action. Most if not near all of the tripping penalties involve the stick.

I don't have a DVR... what I saw was a Blackhawk go flying feet first into a Duck (ultimately tripping him) didn't see the stick. If I'm wrong I'm wrong, I got no replay :(

I think Kane's goal is partially (well not really) his failing to play textbook Allaire.

When he moved to the right, he wasn't in the base position. He didn't push off solidly, and his legs were extended (not ready to move again). Then when Havlat reversed with a nice pass, Hiller couldn't get back to the other side.

It in no way caused the goal, that's extremely hard to stop. Especially with the stick in the way like that. But because he wasn't playing textbook perfect, he had 0 chance.

Well, I hope this fires up the Ducks in a productive manner.

When I think about it though, this really isnt fair. Anaheim hasnt made any shots close to as good as the last two Chicago goals, so Hiller isnt really being outplayed, just hung out to dry more often.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it before, but QP's goal tonight makes it a 5-game goal streak, which is the new Ducks rookie record (passes Penner).

I don't disagree with this. "Non calls" sunk us but KB got it done otherwise.

I like how often the other team manages to just out score us by one goal. Maybe we should try getting less scoring chances than the other team for a change.

I feel spoiled complaining, everything went right a couple years ago. The Ducks had an amazing regular season and we won the Stanley Cup. The Ducks aren't realistically good enough to win the Stanley Cup this year, but I guess I just like watching my team win and I feel there have been way more games that we could have and should have won than games we could have or should have lost. Maybe a little is composure, but still a lot of bad luck.

At least Vancouver sucks too. That's one less team we have to worry about for now.

I thought Scott had a good game tonight. He had assists on the Ducks two goals, and made a great pass to Getzlaf that he whiffed on right in front of Khabibulin. And he was pretty good defensively; for one, he made a great play and saved a goal by blocking that Toews one-timer. That 3-on-1 goal happened after he just came off the bench and wasn't his fault. The other Ducks on the ice as the pp ended had terrible coverage.

I dont post on this as much anymore, as I am way to busy. However I still catch the ducks games on TV, radio, or highlights when i can..and i had to come on to say, THOSE WERE SUCH BS CALLS!!! I thought reffing was bad before..but usually you could see how mistakes were probably being made through poor judgement..but what the #$#@ was that today? like seriously...

What troubled me was that while the refs/linesman were huddling for the BIG POW WOW, they showed the replay on the jumbotron. If those retards had just looked up, they would have seen it clearly that Keith pushed the nets off.

You can't blame the Ducks effort on back to back games. The Bulin wall was playing well and didn't leave many rebounds for Anaheim to crash the net.

I seriously NEVER complain about the officiating, but this crap has to stop! Hazy even mentioned the other night in Phoenix that the officiating crew "Met" with the Duck pre-game. For what? Then last night they miss "6" men on the ice and call Montador for roughing when he did absolutely nothing any other player was doing. Then to cap off the night they make "no call" on that Keith dislodging the net. Holy hell this has got to be frustrating for them.

The problem is these referees get chips on their shoulders then feel like they have to be dicks and can't admit when they're wrong. It's lame and once they have it in for you you can't get out of that. And they have it in for more than a few of our players.

The profession of referee in all sports attracts scum bags.

At least we have Teemu back and he looks alright, he'll be back in shape soon and hopefully that will be enough to turn the tides in some of these really close losses. I expected that stuff to work itself out, but even if it doesn't at least we'll have Teemu. And Niedermayer is starting to play better too.

They played well, two good games in a row, i'll take it. Sometimes the breaks just go against you, or the refs are just awful sometimes. If Niedermayer and Pronger can play like this the rest of the year I think we will be ok.

Luckily in the west after Chicago everyone is bunched together, a solid winning streak would put us right in the middle of the conference

I'm not holding my breathe about Morrison being scratched and Ebbett playing with Selanne and Ryan. At the optional skate yesterday, Morrison was skating with Selanne and Ryan. :shakehead

Management's "ideal second line" since the Morrisson signing was likely him with Selanne and Ryan. He's going to get his chance with that line, and I'm not sure it's up to Carlyle. The question is how long they stick with it, if it doesn't work. Its a shame for Ebbett, but I have the feeling he's the long-term plan.

I tend to agree with you on this. I think they will give Morrison a shot between the two of them. If that doesn't work, Ebbett will probably get the nod. In regards to long-term plans, I'm not sure about Ebbett. I think Anaheim needs a legit second line center. I think Ebbett is very questionable as one right now, and at 26 years of age how much better is he going to get?

He reminds me a lot of Ryan Shannon. He's a poor man's Andy Mac. He doesn't create offense by himself, he's questionable as a top six talent even before you consider his size, and I don't really know if he has the hockey iq or vision. If he were bigger I could see it. At his size though, I'm hesitant. Small players need to have the skill to overcome their size.
