Time to step up Ducks! 6pm PrimeTicket, AM830 Static 01-27-2009, 09:02 PM Anaheim dominated them (allegedly) last game, lets see if they can reproduce the same effort this time around. Static 01-27-2009, 09:13 PM Real good start to the game, forechecking hard. Static 01-27-2009, 09:15 PM Rob Niedermayer has horrible hands. I dont know if he could have messed that rush up anymore than he did. Static 01-27-2009, 09:17 PM Damn, Scott off the post...Ducks look good so far. Mooseduck 01-27-2009, 09:19 PM Robbie back in form after five days on the couch dipping cake into cans of peanut butter. ;) His alleged brother looks good; just missed one off the post. 190Octane 01-27-2009, 09:20 PM Bryz seems to have our number. Static 01-27-2009, 09:22 PM Parros kills the momentum with a stupid hook. Degenerate191 01-27-2009, 09:23 PM I can't believe announcers still call us the mighty ducks. Oh good, a penalty. Mooseduck 01-27-2009, 09:26 PM Pho 1-0 Clear the puck next time. Good effort by Phodogs. Static 01-27-2009, 09:26 PM Theres the Anaheim we know and love. Stupid penalty, stupid mistakes, pk fails. iLau 01-27-2009, 09:27 PM They left Hiller with 2 Phoenix players all alone during the PP. This team needs to find some motivation now! Degenerate191 01-27-2009, 09:27 PM Christ. Way to go sammy. Static 01-27-2009, 09:28 PM What kind of a call is that? Christ, this is starting to go just like the first 40 odd games. Static 01-27-2009, 09:30 PM No luck, just no luck. They look really good right now, and they are losing. Mooseduck 01-27-2009, 09:40 PM Ducks Tie !!! 1-1 Kunitz from Getz, Great pass .. 190Octane 01-27-2009, 09:40 PM There we go... well earned. Static 01-27-2009, 09:48 PM Dominating period, but they have to rid themselves of the mistakes. Montador was bad that period, tried to do too much in the defensive zone on more than one occasion and it cost the Ducks a goal. The checking line looks great. Buck Naked 01-27-2009, 09:56 PM At least Getzlaf is still awesome. 190Octane 01-27-2009, 10:06 PM Nice to get a break. 190Octane 01-27-2009, 10:08 PM Spoke too soon apparently. Buck Naked 01-27-2009, 10:13 PM "Falling down is Corey Perry." That should go on Perry's grave stone when he dies. Buck Naked 01-27-2009, 10:14 PM Hayward talking about Pronger Physics. That was definitely cheap by Pronger....I like it. Lyons71 01-27-2009, 10:17 PM Hiller with his best '09 Giguere' impression on the Doan goal. Yay for losing goalie battles! Mooseduck 01-27-2009, 10:19 PM Ducks 3-2 :) Ducks get physical ; Ducks pull ahead. Mooseduck 01-27-2009, 10:21 PM Another 4-2 :) Robbie (not an empty net) Buck Naked 01-27-2009, 10:24 PM The big boys are stepping up huge this game. Paul4587 01-27-2009, 10:24 PM Wow winning feels different. Jerky Leclerc 01-27-2009, 10:27 PM Morrison is useless out there. 190Octane 01-27-2009, 10:33 PM Getzlaf is pissed but Hayward is right, the referee is right there watching Mueller's leg sweep behind Getzlaf's. hockeydemon05 01-27-2009, 10:33 PM Mueller playing dirty? Against the Ducks too? Better watch out haha. MEEPSTER4 01-27-2009, 10:36 PM Morrison is useless out there. I think that could be said in all but 3 games or so this season. Hopefully he gets a seat in the press box when Todd and Teemu get back. hockeydemon05 01-27-2009, 10:38 PM Hayward really has to ****, he's the biggest jinx in the ****ing world. lol Ducksforcup 01-27-2009, 10:38 PM Montador... Mooseduck 01-27-2009, 10:38 PM 4-3 Ducks Stupid Goal to give away. Ducksforcup 01-27-2009, 10:40 PM Too bad because otherwise that was a really good period. What a stupid goal to give up (good term for it Moose). Mooseduck 01-27-2009, 10:42 PM 5-3 Ducks! Good play Scott, Moen Scores. Ducksforcup 01-27-2009, 10:44 PM S. Nieds with a killer night. Nice to see Moen get a goal. hockeydemon05 01-27-2009, 10:45 PM Hale is our equivalent to Morrison. Except Morrison really does suck balls. 190Octane 01-27-2009, 10:46 PM The veterans are stepping up like they have to. This team isn't dead yet. Jerky Leclerc 01-27-2009, 10:47 PM I think that could be said in all but 3 games or so this season. Hopefully he gets a seat in the press box when Todd and Teemu get back. Lets hope he gets a plane ticket out of town. I'm willing to chip in for a red eye to anywhere. MEEPSTER4 01-27-2009, 10:47 PM Scotty seems to be picking up his game and jumping into offensive situations again. The first half of the season I hardly saw him do that. Ducksforcup 01-27-2009, 10:48 PM Wasn't there like 3 games in a row where Morrison scored two goals in each game and we still lost every game. Buck Naked 01-27-2009, 10:49 PM Wow...can you imagine if this was the way Niedermayer played every game :amazed:. I mean, I know he has been turning it up a notch the last month or so, but he's been unreal this game, just outstanding. Oh, and why is no one getting on Hiller for his game? Hiller doesn't give up softies! Paul4587 01-27-2009, 10:55 PM If only this team played the last 16 games before the break like this. Morrison is still terrible though. MEEPSTER4 01-27-2009, 11:04 PM Ryan for Calder! :handclap: Spiral 01-27-2009, 11:04 PM Bobby!!!! 190Octane 01-27-2009, 11:04 PM You could see that one coming. Mooseduck 01-27-2009, 11:09 PM Karma caught Mueller, what a shame. hockeydemon05 01-27-2009, 11:10 PM Karma caught Mueller, what a shame. I didn't see what happened...why's he out now? (other then Karma) MEEPSTER4 01-27-2009, 11:11 PM Oh, and why is no one getting on Hiller for his game? Hiller doesn't give up softies! Because we're too busy complimenting our offensive outburst. He has been letting in a few softies lately which isn't good. He's more solid than Giguere though. Mooseduck 01-27-2009, 11:21 PM Flying Perry 7-3 !! Help from Getz .. Maybe if we go up 6 goals, we can give JSG a few minutes ;) MEEPSTER4 01-27-2009, 11:22 PM Crashing the net = goals Degenerate191 01-27-2009, 11:24 PM A three goal lead in the third? I feel like I've never seen one. Paul4587 01-27-2009, 11:25 PM This game is awesome. snarktacular 01-27-2009, 11:28 PM I was intending to add a thread where I predicted the Ducks would go on a streak and win like 4 of the next 5. Decent to good teams, meaning they won't play down. Pressure from the losing streak. The last game they actually played well but lost. A short break to get away from the rink. Extended period of underachieving, and the opportunity to disappoint all the people hoping for some losing to spark a rebuild. All indicators of a little streak. But wow, this is even more than I expected. 1st line: 2 G Perry, 2 G Kunitz, 2 A Getzlaf. What a very unbalanced, yet productive night. Oh, and Pahlsson answer's haha's pitch to call QP "God" because he could feed Rob for assists. Mooseduck 01-27-2009, 11:29 PM RC will take the closing minutes to allow Drew Miller to slide head first into the boards. Nice. :) Mooseduck 01-27-2009, 11:31 PM Ducks Win !! Nice game Scott, Getz and Ducks :handclap: iHATEbeauch23 01-27-2009, 11:34 PM This was truly a team that i hadn't seen in a long time. Scott was awesome. Was actually able to win when the goalie didn't have the game of his life Lyons71 01-27-2009, 11:38 PM Hiller let in two stoppable ones, but it didn't matter. Pahlsson got called for a penalty that didn't happen, and it didn't matter. This is what the team is supposed to do every game. kenabnrmal 01-27-2009, 11:40 PM If that team plays like that most nights, everything changes. Spiral 01-27-2009, 11:40 PM Ducks played an awesome game! This win feels great! Buck Naked 01-27-2009, 11:46 PM Is it me, or did Carlyle change his strategy a bit lately? Seems the defensemen are getting the green light more often (not just Scott), and we are sending 3 forwards in on the forecheck even late in the game. Maybe Randy decided if we can't win games with defense, we might as well try with our offense. Duckstudd269 01-27-2009, 11:51 PM Wow, it feels good to watch a win for once. The big boys were awesome tonight. Scotty was awesome. The All-star game reminded him that he is one of the best in the league, and he decided to play like it. Pronger was great as well, but Scotty was definitely the better of the two. Getzlaf- It still amazes me that him and Perry make the same salary. Don't get me wrong, Perry is a great player, but Getzlaf is 5x the player Perry is. Ryan is still the second best forward on this team right now. His hands are awesome. I think one of the best things that could happen to this team right now is to waive Morrison and let Ebbett have his spot. He was awesome tonight. Him and Ryan have great chemistry. I'd really like to see a Ryan-Ebbett-Selanne line. The checking line was very good as well. Nice to see Robby and Moen get some goals, even if they were gifts from Pronger and Scotty. Now for the bad apples tonight: Montador, Hedican, Morrison, and Parros Montador was the worst. I counted 4 very bad turnovers, and one led to a goal. The other 3 led to near goals. He needs to get into Joey Dipenta physics and just clear it up the glass. Hedican- Sloppy is what comes to mind when i think of his play tonight. Bad passing, and stupid mistakes. He threw the puck over the glass and took a penalty while not being pressured in the least bit. Morrison- Do I really need to explain? Fumbled the puck alot. Looked lost with a great duo of Ryan and Ebbett. There's more, but it's old news for this guy. Parros- Wasn't as bad as the other 3, but he was pretty bad for how he's played this year IMO. Ducks dominated first part of this game. He takes a dumb penalty, and Yotes get 1st goal on their 2nd shot. Edit: Oh Hiller was bad as well. Maybe decent I guess. He had some of his usual flashy saves, but at least two of the goals should have easily been stopped. Let's hope Jiggy plays well tomorrow. Buck Naked 01-27-2009, 11:58 PM Perry has looked great since sitting for four games...who was it that suggested he might need some time in the press box? I could have sworn a few of you thought I was a moron. Well, I guess I shouldn't be gloating too much, Mr. Nut was the poster most adamantly against it after all. snarktacular 01-28-2009, 12:21 AM Morrison- Do I really need to explain? Fumbled the puck alot. Looked lost with a great duo of Ryan and Ebbett. There's more, but it's old news for this guy. I missed most of the game, but was B Mo's performance "suckgasm" worthy? Spankatola Jamnuts 01-28-2009, 12:59 AM I missed most of the game, but was B Mo's performance "suckgasm" worthy? Morrison was pretty god damn weak, maybe stood out more as such since everyone else looked better. Montador also looked a bit overwhelmed with the Yotes forecheck at times. But I don't agree with Parros having a bad game. The 4th line was pretty effective overall, even with Miller torpedoing the boards with his face occasionally. I think that's the first time we've gotten the home crowd to boo the opponent in their building all season. Randall Graves* 01-28-2009, 02:05 AM This is what I like to see, this team taking it to the opposition, i'm not sold but we've always been a second half team, very interesting that Hiller started. Ebbett has quietly been productive for us, I wonder what his role will be when Selanne returns. iLau 01-28-2009, 02:28 AM Winning feels nice, but winning by a big margin seems weird. Lyons71 01-28-2009, 02:33 AM I think Phoenix also half assed it today. The game tomorrow will prove much more difficult. Static 01-28-2009, 03:22 AM The best part of the night was Getzlaf manhandling Mueller after the slewfoot and then hearing Mueller was out of the game due to an "undisclosed malady". Poopy pants perhaps? Chone 01-28-2009, 03:30 AM Getzlaf- It still amazes me that him and Perry make the same salary. Don't get me wrong, Perry is a great player, but Getzlaf is 5x the player Perry is. Well Getzlaf is Getzlaf. Crosby is definitely better, Ovechkin is better, Malkin might be a little better, but Getzlaf is right there and maybe even better than Iginla, Datsyuk and Thornton. He's flat out amazing, who knows what he'd be capable of on an offensive minded east coast team or on a team like the Sharks. In Perry's defense though, he's been very good recently himself. Very good. Getzlaf is a bargain, but Perry is making about as much as he should. He's an above average first line winger. He has great chemistry with Getzlaf and could probably stay around a point per game with him. Bobby Ryan has more potential and is playing a little better, but that's a good thing. It's more Bobby Ryan and Getzlaf being amazing than Perry doing anything bad (besides elbowing Giroux). Static 01-28-2009, 03:34 AM Well Getzlaf is Getzlaf. Crosby is definitely better, Ovechkin is better, Malkin might be a little better, but Getzlaf is right there. In Perry's defense though, he's been very good recently himself. Very good. Well he has started to go into those dirty areas again...he did it before just not as frequently, and not as intelligently. Both of his goals came from in the crease, the exact area he needs to be. Getzlaf still looks lazy, I thought he could have done a lot more damage tonight physically and was actually kind of miffed when he didnt shoot on the first goal, choosing to pass instead. It worked out that time but how often does it? Theridion 01-28-2009, 09:34 AM Well he has started to go into those dirty areas again...he did it before just not as frequently, and not as intelligently. Getzlaf still looks lazy, I thought he could have done a lot more damage tonight physically and was actually kind of miffed when he didnt shoot on the first goal, choosing to pass instead. It worked out that time but how often does it? I don't know if lazy is the right word. He definitely thinks pass first. He's not bumping and grinding and checking every time he is out there and sometimes he floats around... but I think that's just him trying to be quarterback. Pwnasaurus 01-28-2009, 10:14 AM Getzlaf is sort of like that great point guard that can really take anyone one on one when they feel like it. Often Getzlaf sets up sort of the equivalent of an alley-oop basketball play with a drive to the middle that draws a few defenders leaving someone open for an easy slam dunk goal off a crazy no look pass. If this makes no sense I blame a wee bit of alcohol this morning. snarktacular 01-28-2009, 10:52 AM Getzlaf is sort of like that great point guard that can really take anyone one on one when they feel like it. If this makes no sense I blame a wee bit of alcohol this morning. Unusual blowout win driving you to the drink? Can't cope with the offensive outburst? I get where you're going. Getzlaf wants to be the passer. Say a Steve Nash. Which is somewhat frustrating since he could be a Jordan/Lebron type in that he could have an awesome all-around stat line with scoring as well as assists. Pwnasaurus 01-28-2009, 11:04 AM Unusual blowout win driving you to the drink? Can't cope with the offensive outburst? That's the beauty of it really. If they win tonight, it's celebratory...if they lose it's depression. It's win/win. Jerky Leclerc 01-28-2009, 11:19 AM The best part of the night was Getzlaf manhandling Mueller after the slewfoot and then hearing Mueller was out of the game due to an "undisclosed malady". Poopy pants perhaps? Getzlaf is the most complete player in the game since Eric Lindros. It is rare to see such a combination of speed, skill, and scariness. Buck Naked 01-28-2009, 01:18 PM Getzlaf is the most complete player in the game since Eric Lindros. It is rare to see such a combination of speed, skill, and scariness. Speaking of speed, is it me or has Getzlaf found another gear this season? I don't remember him pulling away from backcheckers last season like he has this season. He seems fast. snarktacular 01-28-2009, 01:30 PM Speaking of speed, is it me or has Getzlaf found another gear this season? I don't remember him pulling away from backcheckers last season like he has this season. He seems fast. It seems like he's faster when he wants to be, but he also likes to mosey his way across the blueline when he has the puck. And a little too often, the team (defensemen) enables him by waiting for him to lead the breakout so he can trot into the offensive zone with a dipsy-doodle or two. | ||
