crashlanding 01-15-2009, 05:21 PM Lou "I'm putting the band back together" Lamoriello
http://www.msu.edu/user/constanz/blues.brothers.jpg
If there's one thing that this season has shown us it's that Lou is not afraid to bring back former Devils that he feels can help the team in the playoffs. So are there any other former Devils that he'd be willing to bring back? Who would you like to see?
1. Scott Niedermayer - 6.75M - On the last year of his contract and the Ducks are only 4 points out of 9th place and every team below them has at least one game in hand.
2. Bill Guerin - 4.5M - If there's one guy who seems like a "Sutter type" out there it's Bill Guerin.
3. Brendan Morrison - 2.75M - Some say he's having a ****** season, others believe he's lowering his trade value so he doesn't hurt the Devils too badly when he's traded "home."
4. Brad Lukowich - 1.6M - In certain circles he is spoken of in reverent tones and only referred to as "Him" Single handedly he was able to fill the role of Niedermayer, Stevens, and Daneyko, able to destroy the Flyers at will, unfortunately the Sharks will ask for Elias and Parise in return. Verdict: Price too steep.
5. Petr Sykora - 2.5M - Will get traded for but will drop his hockey bag on his foot and be out for the playoffs.
6. Jason Smith - 2.6M - Over the hill? Sure. Slow as hell? Yeah. Worthless defensive trade deadline pickup? Bingo. Just the type of guy to make us forget Ken Klee.
Not listed: Sullivan, Arnott, Souray, Commodore, Mitchell, Gomez, Rafalski, Janssen and a couple of others I skipped.
ziggyluc 01-15-2009, 05:24 PM 1. Scott Niedermayer - 6.75M - On the last year of his contract and the Ducks are only 4 points out of 9th place and every team below them has at least one game in hand.
This. No other solution.

If Lukowich wasn't hurt, I'd so do that trade. Oh well, I can dream, can't I?
Harrison Ford 01-15-2009, 05:28 PM Zubrus, Bergfors, 2nd and Minnesotas 3rd for Arnott.
JRZ DVLS 01-15-2009, 05:29 PM pepe!!!!!
Classic Devil 01-15-2009, 05:30 PM Zubrus, Bergfors, 2nd and Minnesotas 3rd for Arnott.
I wouldn't do it. I love Arnott, but Zubrus is cheaper and comparable.
Harrison Ford 01-15-2009, 05:31 PM Also, We need to get Willie Mitchell back in NJ.
crashlanding 01-15-2009, 05:35 PM pepe!!!!!
Damnit! When I started this thread I was going to put pepe last but forgot when it was time to hit "post."
Rosensnose* 01-15-2009, 05:41 PM Don't get too excited about Niedermayer because he's not the guy we all remember. He hasn't looked great this season and sometimes looks disinterested. Last night against a quick Wings he looked down right embarrassing. He was turning the puck over left and right.
Don't get me wrong I would take him on this team in a heartbeat but he has definitely lost a step since we last saw him.
fluffernutter mf 01-15-2009, 05:46 PM That gahd thing threw me off. I thought we traded/waived one of the Bahston boys.
I wouldn't mind seeing Luko or Nieds back. Luko is definitely better than Mottau/Brookbank/Leach and despite his descision making issues, Nieds is still a damn good hockey player. I just don't see either of their teams willing to part with them, unless whoever's filling in for Luko while he's out really impresses, or the Ducks start completely sucking and Nieds demands a trade.
Anssi is epic 01-15-2009, 05:46 PM I'd like guerin
but I'd take nieds
Classic Devil 01-15-2009, 05:47 PM I'd like guerin
but I'd take nieds
The last thing this team needs is another top-6 winger who last wore a number between 11 and 14.
Madden - 11
Shanahan - 11
Guerin - 12
Rolston - 12, 14
Gionta - 14

That's the problem. He has won it all and done everything and just isn't truly motivated anymore. I don't think he would really help. Neids from 2004, definitely, not present day.

That's a Chicago accent I was attempting, thank you very much.

devilzrule27 01-15-2009, 06:31 PM I think "Gauhd" ?
that seems more like it.
Anyway when i first read the title i thought it said "We're on a mission from Gihad." I was like what the ****?
Anywho I want Pepe or Nieds or Arnott. I was always a fan of Morrison so i wouldn't mind him ether though i don't think it would help the team.

GentlemanOfLeisure 01-15-2009, 07:23 PM Ray Giroux please
ALine9900 01-15-2009, 07:29 PM Only one I want is Lukowich, and maybe Niedermayer.

Steve Guolla anyone?

Yes, you have the picture of the right Niedermayer there, the 2004 Nieds. Too bad he is gone...

Actually, that's exactly how I remember him.
Richer's Ghost 01-18-2009, 12:30 PM I wouldn't do it. I love Arnott, but Zubrus is cheaper and comparable.
But Arnott scores much more often and screens in front better. I'd take Arnott at the expense of Zubrus even though I love Zubie, but Ideally Arnott would come in next year if Holik decides to pack it in.

But why would Arnott come back if Cormier is already going to be our fourth line center? :sarcasm:

Thank you RG, Arnott would be amazing on this team again!
Elias-Arnott-Gionta
Parise-Zajac-Rolston/Langenbrunner
Man that is a sweet top 6
Njdevilsfireonice30 01-18-2009, 04:20 PM Arnott's return would bring tears to many eyes, that's for sure.
I'd love to see some shuffling and Sykora end up back where he belongs.
I would pass on Niedermayer, because basically, the Devils need to build with defensemen about 20 years younger at this point.

I don't think the Devils are in the market for that many 15-year-old defensemen :sarcasm:
borrachon 01-18-2009, 05:31 PM Steve Guolla anyone?
When I read Ray Giroux I swear to gahd the first name that popped in my head was Steve Guolla. Strange.

Right, well maybe 12-15 years younger then.
