LOL. I know what I mean is I wont kiss his feet. I was just being sarcastic. I never second guessed him though. If I was Quinn just before the game I would have started him too.

I think he will honestly. I think he is dealing with some serious jitters but atleast being in the final will get him to relax more, and he will take confidence that he fought through when he wasnt on his game. I think he will surprise alot of people and really come up big in the final. I think Pickard should have played for Canada in the playoff round after the U.S game though, but now we are going to have to go with Tokarski at this point and I have confidence in him stepping up. Remember this guy was a Memorial Cup MVP, he may have been dissapointing here in a way but he is no chump.

Well atleast I had faith in him when few people did. :yo: That being said I still feel sorry for Pickard somewhat as I think he could have done a great job too and Pickard probably should have been given the chance in the semis after the U.S game. Oh well though. Awesome performance by Tosarski, proving what a character playing he is.

Tampa bay are the real winners here. Not only did they STEAL Tokarski in the 5th, had he lost this game, the entire Canadian population on hf would have blamed the Lightning for it.

As a Canadian I won't kiss his feet but thank him on a great clutch performance. We were all right to have our reservations about him, that is completely normal after two shaky games. But I am glad he started, and thrived!

Meh, a lot of us didn't support putting in the backup. We knew we were already committed with Tokarski. He had to come out big, and he did.

Did he make any game saving stops?? To me he made all the saves he SHOULD have made....unlike the other games.

He didnt really face anything of substance until the score was 2-0

Canada didnt need Tokarski to steal a game, just for him not to allow 3-4 soft goals...mission accomplished.

Perhaps it's a little early to say the lightning stole him in the 5th? It's been just a few short months, and it wouldn't be the first time a great junior goalie became nothing more.

Agreed.

Jeff Glass....anyone remember him? I guess Ottawa stole him too...

Its actually quite entertaining to watch World Junior games from 6-7 years ago, all these "cant miss" type prospects playing and over half of them never pan out.

Most of those of us who supported keeping Tokarski in net, for all the obvious reasons, just didn't bother to argue the topic, I suspect. It was mainly the complainers who were determined to voice an opinion.

Yeah, absolutely, Tokarski came through.

Ehh a lot of the hockey world questioned Mason last year and look how that turned out.

Tokarski had played very questionably leading into today and the concerns were valid. He played an excellent game and showed he deserved to be there.

why, because he played half decent today..... isnt that what he was supposed to do....quit blowing sunshine up his butt....He wasnt and isnt the best goalie that Canada couldve picked... sorry

I dont think he is going to be a good NHL goalie...... average at best or worse because TB is horrible defensively and I dont see that changing any time soon...... dont forgot Canada played their best game defensively tonight and Tokarski made the stops he should have...As far as stealing him in the fifth he was picked about where he should have.

Come on, atleast admit he played better than half decent. He was GREAT today. I agree this thread title is ridiculous, and I could even see people still arguing Pickard should have been the starter for this tournament or given it at some point. Still you have to admit Tokarski was more than half decent today.

Agreed. He played like Jeff Glass in 2005, which is making all the stops he needed to however he needed to make them, and that's fine, that's all Canada needed from him. While it was his best game of the tournament, he wasn't spectacular in the least. It was the right choice to stick with him, but it's not like he looked like a stud tonight.

I will say he made the stops he should have, dont think he was a great as everyone says.... Quinn certainly made the right choice keeping him in there

Fair enough. The D did play their best game as a team by far, especialy of the last few games, and that helped him tremendously as well.

Agreed. Although his stats look great in today's game, he was still fighting the puck. We were a few goalie coaches watching the game tonight and we all agreed that he is not a top quality prospect. He has too many holes in his game and is technically not sound. He's a far crime away from Pogge, Price and Mason who we saw in the last 3 WJC.

So I won't kiss his feet or anything else for that matter as my opinion hasn't changed about him. Time will tell and unless the kid has some sort of miracle turnaround, he won't even make the NHL.

He came out big in this final game, but that doesn't necessarily excuse him from the previous games entirely. It's not really know whether Pickard would have performed in a similar manner but I guess we'll never know.

Congrats to the kid, he was solid and got the big win, but he was hardly the difference maker here. Not a single highlight reel stop, not that he had the chance with the pillows Sweden was throwing at him today. Still one of the poorest tenders in the tournament. He owes Eberle drinks for life for that last second reprise he gave him.

Only took him the entire tournament after being almost the worst goalie in it, aside from McLOLum.

He stood tall.

Its hard to be perfect under the circumstances and the pressure that Tokrski was dealing with and I have said all through this tourney that PERFECTION is NOT a realistic standard.

Even though...Tokarski was pretty much PERFECT tonight!
