Canada's MVPs of the tournament for me: Hodgson, Eberle, Tavares, Myers

Tokarski played well when it mattered. Good on him. Espo had a great, great game tonight.

Hodgson puts the icing on the cake. I am so, so excited about this kid. If Gillis ever trades him away, I'm jumping off a bridge. :sarcasm:

canada was great in pp.

canadians not ashamed by the way the play against the goalie? 5 times, none called? Come on! its not fun winning like this!

Team canada always know they can do much more ugly stuff and not get penalties. Its a shame if they want the international games to matter it must be a change.

Team Sweden were a real dispointment this evening. post and out!

Congratulations Canada! Or, aleast, congratulations to those that are not mental. I bet most of you are all right. :)

Sweden didnt play their A-game, and everything, bounces, luck ect.. wasnt ours in this game. But Canada also showed an incredible offence, and the questioned goalie also did a kick ass game.

I´ll say the early pp/1-0 set the tone, unfortunatly.
See you next year. We have an ever stronger team then, probably.

EDIT: Also, about the ref. Yes, he was bad, and yes, Canada will allways be favoured in games like these (has a lot to do with the refs. future carrier possibilities). But I´ve seen way worse than this, and he did shape up after the second. But as said, this will allways be the case, and the ref. didnt really make the score 3 - 1 either so I see no point in the whining here.

BTW, we had 41 shots. WTF, where are the goals. =(

Well deserved victory for Canada who simply played much better than Sweden. Bad attitude from the get go with Markström as the main character made it worse for them but really, they were never close.

Maybe Mårts will learn from this and select more physical players and coaches his team to play smarter on the smaller rinks. They need to play more games against north american teams on smaller rinks than just two practice games.

And last but not least... in your face STHLM. I almost enjoy this because of your massive amount of ridiculous and out right idiotic posts the last few months.

I personally think you guys iced a great team but your coaching staff really let your team down by letting your kids get rattled and buy into the conspiracy crap. The teams' PP was the difference maker. A big fall forward for the Swedish juniors to win two silver medals in a row. It'll also be interesting to see this Swedish team next year, as many player will be eligible to play then as well.

And oh... how Markström could be run twice with no call was interesting to say the least. Junior hockey must be tougher than NHL.

Should have had much more. It's just silly to play those games.

Canada get an extra player, 6 players on the ice, when we try to counter attack. Always ignored.

Canada hit our goalkeeper. Ignored.

Canada have 2 high sticks on 2 of our players. Ignored.

Pääjärvi and Hjalmarsson had almost open nets, but were so hooked that they couldn't even shoot. Ignored.

Some thoughts on the game:

- Excellent work by Tokarski, can you say money goalie? Hopefully he'll get the respect he deserves.
- Awesome goal by Esposito, especially after the previous situation. Great backhand shot, and he stepped up overall in the last two games, great work.
- Hodgson and Tavares showed that they are elite players in big games too. Some big plays, especially Hodgson's world class shot on the third game.
- Best game of the tournament by Canadian defence, at least defensively (guys like Subban made sure they rocked offensively all tournament).
- This is more of a whole tournament thing, but how the heck was Evander Kane cut?!?
- Shaky refereeing, especially considering the pretty high standard in the tournament. I like the simultaneous non-calls on Esposito and Hedman and there weren't many real non-calls and only one really weird call for each team, but you couldn't really get a sense of what was ok and what wasn't. Really have to wonder about either side believing they're biased, though; do people really have to watch with a blindfold on if they root for one side? Granted, the shakiness is a cause.
- Markstrom got run on quite a bit, but I didn't seen any outright dives. Embellishing, sure, and getting into lanes on purpose, but if you call those "dives" then Tokarski "dove" too at least once. Also, people who haven't watched him previously showed their ignorance with those "losing his cool" comments. He's a hothead, but it doesn't seem to bother his play. He's not the first goalie to be like that, as we know ;)
- A Swedish guy BIT a Canadian? What the..? o_O That's just ridiculous.
- Moller was still horrible. Bad mistake by Swedish coaches to keep playing him so much.
- Many Swedes had bad games. I suppose that's partially due to a strong Canada, but they also seemed to be lacking jump.
- Exceptional work by Quinn (happy to see him win) and the scouts, they were able to eliminate Sweden's most typical breakouts from previous games. The lack of jump probably helped, though. I guess this point (together with the improved defence) and the previous one constitute a chicken egg situation.
- Karlsson had an amazing moustache.
- The third goal, although pretty, was a bit anticlimactic as the game was pretty much over with 20 minutes to go. The next nice storyline I looked for with the game decided was a SO for Tokarski, but that didn't happen either. Meh.
- Overall, a good game to watch but nothing like Canada-Russia, obviously!

Congratulations, Canada!
