More. I think this is going to be a blowout.
wildone26* 01-04-2009, 12:23 PM Germany is going back to the B side IMO. Finland 4-1.
Selanne08* 01-04-2009, 12:25 PM it would be fun to see Finland sent down considering they will have a much stronger team for years to come.

I think with the victory yesterday Finland is guaranteed to stay up, no?

FINNtastic 01-04-2009, 01:09 PM yeah it did.
Nope, it's not 100 percent sure yet. If Germany wins Finland by a big margin and Latvia wins Kazakstan, then it's up to mathematics...

he was trailing by 3 PIM and now took the lead as most penalized player. maybe there's some prize money. :sarcasm:

T_Cage 01-04-2009, 05:44 PM Sucks for Germany...they had so much potential :( (Looked Great in the 9-0 Kaz spanking...solid against Canada). Then they just collapsed...
the dutch guy 01-04-2009, 07:35 PM Hartikainen has played well in the past couple games. how old is he? would he still be eligible for next years tournament

I was never that impressed with them. Everyone whooped Kaz., against Canada they made it surprisingly competitive with hard work and great goaltending but their complete lack of skills was evident whenever they had the puck. Their PP was the most pitiful I have ever seen even at junior level, they couldnt even put simply passes on the other players sticks. Sorry if I sound negative, that is just my feeling. I still thought they would stay up over Latvia though, very surprised Latvia crushed them without it being even close.

I have to agree with you.... very disappointing outcome, they weren't even trying. Nothing wrong about sounding negative, that was a very poor showing of a mediocre team.
Joe Potato 01-04-2009, 11:20 PM I was at the game and overall it was a disappointment. I thought both teams would be stronger than they were. But overall the Finns were definantly stronger and the Germans are rightly being relegated, as I saw the Latvia game too and that team was stronger tonight than the Germans too.
As for David Wolf he got in a pushing match with one of the Finns at the end of the second period and head butted him. Apparently you cant do that in hockey...:sarcasm:
v-man 01-04-2009, 11:27 PM I only saw about 30 mins of the middle of the game, but it seemed pretty obvious that Finland was on cruise control and hardly felt the need to put in an entertaining effort, while Germany seemed to have accepted their fate already, and hardy put up a fight. Probably the least entertaining game of the tournament.
Inkling 01-05-2009, 02:07 AM Here are some highlights. Congrats to Finland!

So you watched Latvia beating Kazakhstan 7:1 and Germany losing to Finland 3:1 and you are basing your opinion about Germany "rightly" being relegated on those two games? Germany actually beat Kazakhstan 9:0.
The game against Finland didn't really show why Germany got relegated (except for the fact that they took too many stupid penalties again). The ones against Latvia and the Czech Republic did though.
I still can't believe that last year Germany beat the slovaks 3 out of 4 times with almost the same players on their rosters and yet the Slovaks did so well at this tournament and the germans underachieved so much

It's hard to say that they are not "rightly" being relegated when they didn't beat anyone who isn't also being relegated. It seems the rightful two teams are going down.

I didn't say they don't deserve to go down. I said you can't come to that conclusion based on the two games mentioned.
Apart from the stupid penalties imo they played ok against Finland - especially considering the fact that it was 3 lines against 4 lines.
