If this was a lockout year, what would the teams look like?

All U-20 players available to each team. Who would ice the best squad?

First, lets start looking at some potential additions to each team. For Canada, the simple additions are Schenn, Doughty, Stamkos, Mason and Gagner...Turris would be in there. I'm sure there are tons more.

I can't even imagine a Schenn-Doughty top pairing.

Mason is too old. He is an '88 turning 21 this spring.

Can you imagine having a checking line with Gillies and Sutter? Sutter is already killing 5 on 3's in the nhl and has proven to be a great penalty killer for the canes. Then we wouldn't have to deal with that punk Della Rovere.

I'll try Canada... other ppl from other countries should make their own... I don't think many changes will occur on most rosters
* denotes players who were unable to attend due to NHL status
# means they were injured and could not participate
TEAM CANADA

Turris* Gagner* Stamkos*
Eberle Tavares Hodgson
Gillies* Bailey * Sutter*
Ennis Cormier Tyrell #

Schenn * Hickey
Doughty * Tuebert
Subban Myers
Ellis Peitrangelo

Pickard
Tokarski

I think this would be one of the best teams in WJC history

Goalies are still a question mark, although I have more faith in Pickard than Tokarski...

It would be a great team.. but definitely not as good as the team we actually iced in 2005.

Canada would still have Claude Giroux I think. He'd be the first line RW, and he would just be able to play, his birthday is January 12th.

Gillies* Bailey * Sutter*

Sutter would stay at center because of his faceoff ability.

Pascal Cormier? And to answer your question, Alzner is too old.

No, they wouldn't. He's 20 already, turning 21 January 12.

Sorry Patrice. I figured Alzner was too old, too lazy to go look at his birthday

USA would have Bogosian, for one. Would have been a nice addition (assuming he didn't get injured).

I guess Kane was/is ineligible.

Schenn and Doughty would limit some off the giveaways the goalies have had to clean up. Doughty is amazing against NHLers. Schenn would make you keep your head up.
