Fess up: Who bailed after the 5th Russian goal?

(Hand in the air, head hung in shame). After Russia scored the go-ahead goal, I bailed. Went downstairs. Got on facebook. Checked the IIHF's site to see if it was over. Discovered it had been tied.

Who else is as black-hearted as me?

I bailed emotionally. I was preparing myself for the loss.

I didn't bail, but when I saw the puck pinned along the boards near the blue line (before it got to Tavares) at the 14 second mark, I thought they were finished for sure and weren't able to setup a decent scoring play in time.

I watched every second, and was already preparing myself for the barage of post from the US fans. I could see every one in my mind just before the goal was scored. I was expecting HF to be shut down.

Down by one goal with a couple of minutes left and you bail? WTF...

I didn't bail, but I certainly didn't think they were going to tie it. Always watch the game 'til the end, you never know what can happen.

When Tavares backhanded it at the net and it went into that Russian player, I thought to myself "Oh well. It's not like anyone watches this tournament, so it doesn't matter!" And then I started yelling a lot.

It blows my mind that people bail out on any game when it's a one goal game. That's crazy.

I saw what they did in the USA-Canada game on New Year's Eve coming back from a 3-0 deficit, so there was no way I was going to stop watching till the final buzzer went.

Not me, but when the puck was tied up on the boards with 10 seconds left most of the hope had dwindled away.

Tavares and Eberle are getting most of the credit (with good reason) but Ryan Ellis made a hell of a play standing up on the blueline and keeping the puck in with his body. Outstanding play by the kid.

I didn't bail and thought something was going to happen. Well until that scrum on the wall, then I must admit I though it was over...next thing I know Tavares throws the puck in front Eberle finds it shows patience and ties her up!

The next time I bail will be the first. I am glad this game was played in Ottawa, fans got behind the team when they went down. If this was in Montreal the ice would have been littered with garbage and fans would have left.

I just remember Pierre, he sounded eerily calm. He seemed convinced that there was more than enough time for Canada to tie it up. Turns out he's prophetic.

I didn't leave the couch but I have to admit I was starting to lose a bit of faith. I thought the game was over when the puck was pinned up against the boards with about 11 seconds left. Boy was I ever wrong.

Some cousins in Toronto told me that there were cars going up and down the streets in downtown Toronto honking their horns like crazy with Canadian flags hanging out of their cars after the game.

It's amazing how this tournament can just bring a country together.

I was scared.. I thought it was over but god damn, stuff like this rarely happens!!!! I was convinced we would lose in OT.

The only other time I remember something like this happening was when the Canucks tied the Flames to go to OT in game 7, only to promptly be scored on within minutes of OT starting :P

GREAT GAME! GO CANADA.

Nope, stuck it through until the 5.4 seconds, then I bailed to mix a drink for OT

Back in the NHL playoffs, in '97, with the Oilers playing the Stars, the Oilers were losing 3-0 with 5mins left...

I shut the game off, went out and did whatever with friends.

Came home after midnight, got a call shortly later from a friend..

"They won! They won in OT!!!"

.....I will never let that happen again.

I didn't shut the TV off.

Still watched but wasnt overly optimistic especially with the angle of the play around 15 seconds left I thought the puck got by Ellis at the point...then when Tavares got it free I thought the Russian was going to sit on the puck to drain the clock...and then Eberle went backhand roof...Place went nuts...and then I knew it was a matter of time...

I truly believed Canada would tie, and win the game.

They can match our size, our skill, and our speed. But no one matches Canada's heart.

After got over cussing out Tokarski for not hugging the post and covering up the puck, I settled back to watch the seemingly inevitable.

Gave up when the Russians looked to be clearing it from the zone and then was amazed to see Eberle wide open in front of the net.

Russians frankly choked in the last moment of the game. Terrible icing on the open net shot and all the Russians out at the blue line letting the Canadians get behind them during the last part of regulation time. They looked very disorganized.

That's what I told my wife I pointed out the huge play Ellis made. If he lets that puck go by him the game is 99.9% over. But he didnt.

Yeah I didn't turn it off until the final buzzer. For many reasons. It aint over till it's over. And secondly I had a round of obscentities lined up to start shouting at Quinn if we lost. (eg. Why did you cut Hall, why don't you lose some weight, no wonder you aren't in the NHL, etc. etc.) But thankfully I didnt have to use them, but if we lose on Monday...............

never thought of shutting the game off for one second...i sat with my head buried in my laptop behind the desk at work hoping for a game tieing goal, and i will admit my faith dwindled as the seconds grew smaller and smaller but at 5.4 seconds all faith was restored and i think i scared the crap out of a young brazilian traveller who was walking through the hotel lobby at the exact moment eberle tied the game

I just kept thinking "law of averages" Russians would storm back after every goal we scored to tie it. I just kept hoping the same would occur for us. I'm glad it did.

Only time I came close to bailing was in 98 I think. Lets not go to that dark place. lol

No use bailing with that much time left.
