Will Ryan Ellis remove his cage for todays game?

Well, today is Ryan Ellis of Canada's 18th birthday, do you think his visor will come off for the game?

what does he wear in the OHL (he plays in the OHL right?).

everyone in the OHL wears visors their age is irrelevant.

IIHF rules state that players under the age of 18 must wear a full face cage, so i'm wondering what people think if he will take it off or what.

id bet visor.... he has to be more confortable with it

I think that this may be the case. But if he has the choice, I bet it comes off. As for Tomas Tatar I don't know why he still has the cage. Was he 18 before the tournament?

According to Elite Prospects website he turned 18 on December 1st.

possibly a jaw injury? or maybe he likes the cage does he wear one where he plays hockey now? i can understand it if that's what he's comfortable with.

i'm gonna email the panel on tsn and see if somehow in the 2nd intermission they will enlighten us on the visor situation

nobody WANTS to wear a birdcage, it restricts your vision. If he's allowed to it will definitely be a visor.

i actually prefer the birdcage, in a league where you can't fight anyways i'd protect my face from the high sticks and pucks at all costs.. even tho you don't look "cool" lol

I was watching a final from 1997 and every single player was wearing the full cage. When did the IIHF let them go with just the visor.

And personally, I cant stand the cage. It adds weight to the front of your helmet and just feels awkward, especially when your whipping youre head around.

IIRC 1998 all wore full cages, in 1999 oldest age group (1979) was able to play with visors and since 2000 rule has been like it is today.
