Welcome aboard.

As for the game tonight I dont think it will be as easy as many believes it's gonna be. Im predicting a 3-2 win for Sweden.. but if Janus plays as good as he did last night, then god be with us.
I hope they dont underestimate this Slovakian team, because I have a feeling this could be a new Belarus game all over again.

The word is out the Canadian refs are going to make sure the Slovaks will win this game.
The Swedes will be on the PK all night with mostly a lot of 5 on 3.
The Swedes will be called a lot for diving, too many men on the ice and delay of game.
Boy you Swedes are going to be in deep with these Canadian refs.

I'm happy as long as Markstrom is with us... Although Janus had an awesome game yesterday, he still let in 3 goals. Markstrom hasn't even let in 3 goals in the entire tournament so far.

Edit: That said, I'm not claiming this will be a cakewalk. A good goalie isn't enough, we need to score as well obviously. ;P

When Slovakia played Sweden last week, Sweden dominated the first two periods. The third period Slovakia took over. Perhaps because Sweden forgot to play a full 60 minutes. Anyhow, Slovakia has to try to recapture that third period.

Given the difficult game against the United States yesterday and the fatigue of the players, I think this will be very difficult.

Tomas W

Janus played great* last time against Sweden, but it didnt help the slovaks. Sweden should win, it would be a great let down if not.

*compared to a lot of other teams Slovakias defense looked pretty good, which help the goalie of course.

I think Slovakia got very lucky yesterday. I was at the game and I find they got 3 either lucky or ugly goals. Mccollum was very weak or unlucky... but he didnt look very good at all. After those 3 goals, the Slovaks stood on their heels and did nothing until the end of the 3rd period. The US dominated for at least 50 mins and that is not going to work against the Swedes no matter how amazing Janus is going to be.

That being said, I believe today's game will be a blowout, like 6-0.

I think it would be a good idea to split them up. Karlsson's play is forcing Hedman to play defense all the time, maybe with another partner he can use his great offensive skills more often.

I don't like or respect the way they play the game, going back several years. I really dont like the way they feel they have to come out and crash and bang every european team and if teams don't do it the game is considered boring or just not good enough.

I'm a college hockey player myself and I've played on both the international surface and the north american surface and I much prefer the style played in Europe and how the players are taught there. I'm an undersized player and to see how Team Canada seems to carry a bigger means better mentality really bothers me and to see the Swedes who dont seem to care about the size of the player as long as they bring the heart and skill really makes me feel good to see so I find I connect better to the Swedish players then I do with the Canadians.

I'm also a Scandinavian descendant which doesn't hurt either:laugh:

I'm conflicted too, on the other hand I wanna see slovaks kick swedes' ***** today, but I also wanna see canadians kick swedes' ***** in the final. :D

It's a tough game for Slovakia. They're tired and probably get dominated on the ice. They need another great game from Janus.

Unfortunately I think the Swedes will win this one in a landslide. The Slovaks were lucky to beat an American team with a goalie who was rattled after that Canadian game, and a team that was full of prima donna's who couldn't function well as a unit. The Swedes won't be so easy, and Janus will look absolutely great giving up 5 or 6 goals, but unfortunately, he'd still be giving up 5 or 6 goals and I really don't see the Slovaks getting more than maybe 2 on Markstrom.

Yes it'd be great to see a Cinderella run out of the Slovaks, I just don't see it happening.

Well 5-2 or 6-2 wouldn't be a laughable landslide, but it's still a blowout. The Slovaks had to give everything they had last night to beat the Americans, and I personally question what they have left in the tank.

Let's not forget, if the Canadian refs don't win the game for Slovakia, the tournament sponsors will buy the gold medal for Canada if they reach the final :sarcasm:

The Slovaks held the Swedes to just a two goal win, so we'll see what they can do soon enough.
I predict a win for the Tre Kronors, 6-2.

Sometime i don't like what canada does. But i have pride in my country and take pride in supporting them.

I don't even think the Swedes really carried that period. The best chances were had by Slovakia, and they could have very easily potted another goal or two. Janus Christ hasn't really had to walk on water yet, either.

yeah ;)

You don't think 3 pucks in the iron is chances?

There not even considered shots.

Markstrom has saved Sweden a few times in this period. At the end Slovakia had some very good chances. It could easily be 3-0 Slovakia right now.

This is a different Slovakia team though, a hard fought win against Finland, then the upset of USA now the first goal against Sweden, there moral has to be at a much different level then against Russia. Don't think Janus played aginst Russsia either
