man, the game is still 8 hours away, no need to start setting the table for excuses until at least 2-3 hours before game time.

what You really mean is slightly more talented teams that used to eliminate Canada, lately it's been the other way around.

When either team has lost to the other
lately coaching hasn't played the biggest part unless you're a hurting fan that needs a reason to convince themselves why their team lost.Because it's usually the talent involved.

Now this year you may have a point as i think both teams are basically even in talent.

TSN has been replaying the games in the middle of the night all tournament long -- and they should be applauded for doing it! I've caught more games in repeats than live.
You can out and have a wonderful night, then come home to a fridgeful, put your feet up, and Go Team Go.

THIS IS GOING TO BE A CLOSE GAME, YOU CAN COUNT ON IT esp. because I'm still scared of the Canadian goaltending and the fact that it probably won't match the intensity or the competitiveness of USA vs Canada.

The Russians will also want revenge after the Canadian U-18 team beat them 8-0 on home ice in the spring. They now have to chance to give it back to us.

Will Tavares be able to step it up again? Will Filatov be left off the scoresheet? We'll see.

Worried about how good Boychuk can be with that injury.

He's our best sniper after Tavares.The Russian defense can be quite physical and won't be easy to push around at all.I have been so-so on canada's defense so far. It's been o.k but not up to the level i have grown accustomed to the past 4 years.One pair really has to step up today and become an absolute pain in the ass to play against.

On the other hand i think Russia's goalie can be exposed. They need to get his best performance or they will be done.

Canada has the superior team here and I don't have faith for the Russian goaltender to play as well as he did yesterday. Pretty large margin of victory for Canada.

I'm worried about Sweden's game against Slovakia. I really hope to see Canada-Sweden(sorry Russians but as a Swede I want revenge).

I wasn't all that impressed with Russia yesterday. If the Czech's had any offensive push, they probably would have won that game.

Should be a fun match to watch. Hopefully both teams come out swinging.

I saw on Sportsnet that the Russians will be pretty motivated this game as the majority of them played on the Under 17 team last year that Canada spanked 8 or 9-0 so i think they are gonna be fired up .I mean they always are when they play us , we wont wipe them out but we will beat them .

I hope to see a Canada whitewash of the Russians, but if the Russians are really as fired up as it seems it will be closer. I think it'll still be a 4-2 Canadian victory, but it should be an entertaining back and forth game.

If Russia wants to beat Canada they have to out hit them and limit canada power play. However said not gonna happen canada is too strong for this Russian team but it should be a decent game non the less. I can't see it being better then the U.S-canada game but i could be wrong.

I think this game will come down to the Russians' ability to handle Canada's physical play, and Russia's ability to stay out of the box.

The Russians did not handle the Swedes' physical play well at all on Wednesday, and it showed. They looked beleaguered at times. If they do a better job of handling the Canadians' physical presence, and if the Russians can stay out of the box, the Russians have a good shot at victory, and this will be a close game. If the Russians wilt under the pressure, this one could be another 5-0 type of game.

Canada has excellent skill and offensive depth, with strong scoring potential from both the forwards and defence. But they need better defensive play. Not just from the blue-line, but from the team as a whole. Russia's dangerous. Like Canada, they boast three potent scoring lines, and they have a game-breaker in Filatov. Canada did do an effective job of neutralizing the USA's big line in the last game, but if Canada shuts down Filatov, the Russians have some other offensive options.
