Thanks in advance. chaosrevolver 12-15-2008, 06:04 PM I know that Philip Grubauer is one of the two goaltenders. zecke26 12-15-2008, 06:08 PM it's not out yet. and that's no surprise. not even an information when it'll be out. i mean, the official DEB homepage looks like it's made in the 80s. who cares about promoting your sports? the DEB obviously doesn't. :shakehead and grubauer is a sure thing? would be nice. he's the best goalie prospect from germany for a while. maybe ever? amazing skills. I'd be really surprised if he doesn't end up the top forward for the Germans. The kids got skills, speed, size and hockey sense. Helps that he's been playing in a N-A rink this year too. Juniors are losing most of their top forwards in the coming weeks... Esposito and Ritter to the WJCs, Asselin to the U17... gamerman44 12-15-2008, 07:13 PM Ah Timo Pielmeier? Translation: Toni Ritter will leave after the game on December 19th to join team Germany at the WJCs. Just wanted to link my source for Toni Ritter. Helps that he's been playing in a N-A rink this year too. not sure if he's the best. i don't think so. he's top6, no doubt. but flaake should have more skill. daniel weiss is an interesting player. he's a regular for berlin (current champion), got his games in the new champions league and should be a leader of the german squad. i wonder if tom kuehnhackl could make the team. he's a 92 born, but by far the most talented guy i've watched in a long time to come out of germany. and he's already a regular with his 2nd-tier team landshut, playing special teams too. he should already be as good as those born 3 years earlier. X-SHARKIE 12-16-2008, 01:16 PM Who are the top draft eligible players on this team? I'm looking forward to see how Ritter compares to Flaake and this Daniel Weiss guy. The Germans should be interesting to watch, and they could cause some surprises with arguably a top 3 goalie in the tourney with Pielmeier and a lot of guys playing in N-A. Sanderson 12-16-2008, 01:35 PM Who are the top draft eligible players on this team? I'm anxious to see what Pielmeier can do in goal for Germany, he was really impressive at SJ's camp. Weiss and Ritter, though both were available in the last draft. There isn't really anyone of interest when it comes to those who are eligible for the first time in the 2009 draft. With even the higher rated Germans dropping to the lower rounds in the last few years, there isn't really anyone I would expect to be drafted. 2010 looks better, especially Kühnhackl and Grubauer. How would you say this German team compares to previous years? Seems that there is the top 4 (Can, USA, Swe, Rus), then a big drop-off. Chances of avoiding relegation? As for Kuhnhackl and Grubauer do they project to be early round picks or just late round picks? zecke26 12-16-2008, 02:46 PM How would you say this German team compares to previous years? Seems that there is the top 4 (Can, USA, Swe, Rus), then a big drop-off. Chances of avoiding relegation? in think german hockey in general is improving in small steps and so are their junior teams. in goal pielmeier is pretty good. grubauer while being a 92er is not far behind and i think he has even more potential. the defense might be a little weaker, but at least the guys are regulars on their DEL and 2nd-tier teams. and usually german teams play disciplined. and reul is a decent prospect i think. on forwards flaake, ritter and weiss stand out. andre huebscher already has 132 DEL games which is quiet impressive for his age. i expect them to beat kazakhstan and surprise against the czechs. and somehow germans always do good against NA teams and sometimes they even surprise. the U18 usually manages to beat the US team every once in a while. not by skill, but by hard work and boring them to death. maybe it helps playing US first. some arrogance on the US team and maybe...not likely, but it has happened before. :) As for Kuhnhackl and Grubauer do they project to be early round picks or just late round picks? you never know with germans. i think NHL teams should scout here more. with NA and scandinavia scouted a lot, focus on germany and switzerland would be clever. some late round steals are possible. there's obviously talent here, it's just that the player don't get enough support to development. at least more and more go to NA to play CHL. grubauer went that route too. he's struggling at the moment i think. but i thought he might go in round 3 or so. x-sharkie should drive to belleville to scout him and tell us about him then. kuhnhackl...hmm...it's hard to say where they end up. i can't compare to other 2010 eligibles. compared to former german players drafted, kuhnhackl could go in round 1. at the moment he's a regular in 2nd-tier, but i think he should go to CHL too next year. chaosrevolver 12-16-2008, 05:04 PM Grubauer has been pretty inconsistent so far in his short stay in the O. But he does show the skills from time to time. He just needs to focus a little better to further improve his consistency and under Belleville's goalie coach, that shouldn't be a problem. He will be starting goaltender next year so right now this is a good oppurtunity for him at the world juniors to show what he's made of. Then he goes back to Belleville and continues to learn from the OHL's best goaltender, Mike Murphy, who just happens to play a very similar style to Grubauer in net. zecke26 12-16-2008, 07:20 PM Grubauer has been pretty inconsistent so far in his short stay in the O. HeresHedman 12-16-2008, 07:28 PM Does anyone know the loophole Conor Morrison is using to play for Team Germany? Toni Ritter plays for Montreal in the QMJHL, Gerrit Fauser plays for Gatineau. Yesterday, Montreal played against Gatineau. Ritter was not there, as he joined his teammates at the WJCs. Fauser played for Gatineau. I'm thinking this means Fauser will not be part of team Germany for the upcoming WJCs. Can anyone confirm?
