Anyone have info on why Hall was cut?

I didnt get to see much - if any - of the training camp. It was rather short this year and as is the case every year there is always a guy cut that you don't expect. Was Hall that guy? Does anyone have a reason as to why he was cut? Did he play sluggish? He has blinding speed which is what I would think Quinn would want on here. Thanks.

I'm sure a lot more goes into it than the intrasquad games. But in the two games I watched, he was not a factor. He just didn't generate offense or produce anything, and he doesn't (yet, anyway) bring any other dimension (e.g. defense, physicality) at the level of some of these other elite junior players.

I would have kept him around as a 13th forward if I was keeping one of those, just in the off chance that a spot opened up on a scoring line as the tournament progressed, but it wouldn't have been because he truly earned it with his intrasquad play; it would have been because I know he can score and would be hoping that in the crunch he could jump in and do it if needed. But then, some of the other guys they cut like Kane or Kadri generated more offense in those intrasquad games than Hall did too (IMHO), so it might not necessarily have even been fair to keep him ahead of them for #13.

I don't know, chalk it up to a learning experience for him, and a chance to secure his scoring title in the OHL, I guess.

It's crazy to think Tavares made the team as the 13th forward last year, while averaging two points per game.

It's crazy to think Tavares was cut as a 16 year old when he won the CHL MVP the same season.

Just the way it is.

Thats why they have tryouts, they dont hand a spot to anybody, no matter who you are... you play the canadian system or you go home.

It's not just playing the system, but also playing against basically an all-star team of 18/19 year olds instead of a normal CHL team.

I think he would have had a better chance of making the team had it been on the open European ice. Skating would have been more of a factor.

I heard he didn't have the best of camps. Even if he had a good camp, I think most predicted him to be a 13th forward anyways.. so to see him cut wasn't a huge surprise, at least not to me. I mean, it's a surprise in the sense that you cut arguably the best junior player.. but Hall is a young kid and he'll be there next year I'm sure of it.

I have read an interview with Pat Quinn where he says, that everybody, hartburgh, Sutter ,etc told him that U-20 was not a tournament for 17 years old. It was a tournament for 19 year olds. They were the one to make you win.

So they do understand what Hall is gonna be worth in a few years, but he's not there yet.

Also, a major point is that, when a player is not drafted yet, WJC being a big time chance to boost your stock, players play more of a selfish game. On the other hand, if you are 19 and already drafted... you are past that.

Hmm I dont really believe in that, perhaps against weaker teams but not when facing better opponents.

Well im assuming he goes straight to the NHL after next year so he'll only get 1 tournament in. Thats a shame, I was really pushing for him to make the team.

i think that its a plus for windsor that we have him back, but he may only have one tournament like abars said...i really think it would have benefited him but its not to big of a shocker.

He is back because of his age. He's a 2010 draft and only 17 yrs old. That was the main reason why he was sent back since it is predominatley a 19 year old tourny.

Playing a selfish game wouldn't help a players draft standing if anything it would hurt it. Scouts want to see players play a complete game, use their teammates and be able to excel within a system.

I didn't say itwas a good thing. It isn't of course, but in a 17 years old point of view, you probably want to show that you deserve high considerations, and you try to do a little too much and you **** it up.
