Devilsfanatic 11-23-2008, 11:15 AM Lou Lamoriello is laughing so much, he can't answer the question.
Or won't.
Either way, the normally poker-faced general manager of the New Jersey Devils is having a few yuks -- at the expense of Brian Burke and Ron Wilson.
More than three decades ago, Burke and Wilson were players on the Providence College hockey team, a squad run by a no-nonsense coach named Lou Lamoriello.
Now, what seems to be almost a lifetime later, Lamoriello has just been asked if there are enough microphones in the entire city of Toronto to accommodate the quote machines known as Burke and Wilson, who might soon be running the Maple Leafs together.
Lamoriello wants to provide a smartass response. You can tell. But he won't. At least not publicly.
"Next question," he says, still chuckling.
On one particular day years ago, Lamoriello's secretary told Burke that the coach wanted to see him. That's trouble, Burke thought to himself.
When Burke entered the office, Lamoriello shoved a law school admission test application at him. As the story goes, Burke allegedly pushed it back in Lamoriello's direction, telling his coach he had no interest in attending law school.
"It's not a request," Lamoriello reportedly said, inferring that it was an order.
Burke took the test. He got 97%. He would go on to attend Harvard.
"All because Lou cared," Burke said during an interview earlier this year.

åboriginal 11-23-2008, 11:24 AM the man still has 1 more cup in that huge melon of his. i sure would love to see him go out with a swansong stanley cup whenever he decides to walk away.
Das Uber 11-23-2008, 12:44 PM I need to see Lou again. When I met him last spring I told him to bring over the Russians, and sure enough, they're both playing in Lowell. This time I'm going to bring up the defense issue. I'm pretty sure he considers me one of his top advisers.

Bring up the defense problem and the fact that the building is too warm, especially when the players are saying it. Oh, each seat having its own beer tap would be sweet too...:sarcasm:

pattyelias 11-23-2008, 01:52 PM What is 97% on the LSAT? What does that even mean?
Jiri Bicek 11-23-2008, 01:54 PM What is 97% on the LSAT? What does that even mean?
Law School Admission Test
TheDevilMadeMe 11-23-2008, 02:12 PM What is 97% on the LSAT? What does that even mean?
If it's the LSAT, the only thing that would make sense is if it were in the 97th percentile, aka better than 97% of applicants.
azrok22 11-23-2008, 02:17 PM What is 97% on the LSAT? What does that even mean?
Must be percentile... IIRC 170 usually works out to 99th percentile. 164 is usually 91st percentile. So his score is somewhere in between those (note: 180 is a perfect score).
ALine9900 11-23-2008, 02:20 PM I thought this thread would be about Lou fixing our defense, lol.
Devilsfanatic 11-23-2008, 02:20 PM Meaning he slaughtered that test and went to Harvard Law all because of Lou. LL is like a father to BB.

Wouldn't 175 be 97% then?
RMBoner Stabone 11-25-2008, 05:45 PM Lou is the man, he was cleaning up the Fire Lounge at the open house/skate. He was also very friendly to anyone that came up to him. I was suprised I got to spend 5 minutes uninteruppted with him.

He was cleaning?!?! That is ridiculous.
RMBoner Stabone 11-25-2008, 05:57 PM He was cleaning?!?! That is ridiculous.
The lounge had food and drinks and he was picking up and throwing things out in the trash bins. He wasn't with a mop, but he does lead by example and was walking around the lounge alot that night. Last year, he had a lineup of autograph seekers, this year he was left alone for the most part.

No it isn't. If you're above cleaning, you're beneath contempt.

I say it's ridiculous because it's so weird to think about. But he rules

No, not percent, percentile, as in the number of people who you score higher than. So someone in the 95th percentile scored higher than someone in the 90th percentile, but that is not the % score they got on the test.
