All this has been known for months. Germany and Kazakhstan have lucked out, because obviously one of them will stay in the elite level whereas were they in the B group they would most certainly be going back to Div 1, like Latvia will. In the relegation round, if Slovakia beats Latvia, and they both beat Germany and Kazakhstan, then Latvia still stays. They're too good for the top 20-11 teams, not good enough to compete against the top 8. This is why I think they should expand it by two more teams. The whole purpose of the tournament is for development, but part of it should be the development of the lesser countries. I don't know what the D1 groups are, but I'm assuming next year we see Denmark and Switzerland. | ||
