Will The Wings Fail?

I was just thinking about how stacked the Wings are and all the hype they are getting to win it again this year, but with all the hype of being really good comes all that pressure. I am not saying that the Wings wont make the playoffs or evenwin the cup, I just think If they get in any kind of funk the media will be all over them. Kind of like the Sens last year.

(I also think this applies to Paguins and our friends across the border.)

On top of all that every team is going to gunning to beat them.

I know our team seems to play better as the underdogs. (It could also be that we always seem to be underdogs). A lot of teams got better in the west and I would not be suprised to see some upsets.

What do think?

I think they're going to be difficult to stop because they're built entirely from within - Hossa is not a key, he is a useful addition in the way Mogilny was a Devil.

They won't repeat. Count on that.

But they won't suck either.

I think they're still the favorites, but I also think a good two way team with a physical edge could beat them. Hopefully that team is us.

They're going to dominate...just like in 1995.

Meh, Datsyuk and Zetterberg would eat our defense alive, not to mention every other one of their players...

I think we stand a much better chance against them than anyone else though.

I would love to play them in the finals...not only play them, but completely embarrass them in a sweep.

I wouldn't bet money on any other team, but you can always hope they will fail. Assuming of course that none of the teams a hate even more wins the cup.

I always cheer for the Wings, except against us.

I guess I dislike them because they are so good. I just don't understand how you can fit a team like that under the cap.

Except the 08-09 Wings are exponentially better than the 07-08 Sens:)

I don't think they'll repeat, but I don't think they'll fail completely.

I think they'll make it to the finals. If they lose, that's where they'll lose.

I could see a team like Dallas, San Jose, or Anaheim knocking them off in the playoffs. That said the Red Wings will probably finish the season #1 in the West.

Its so hard to pick a team to repeat as Cup champions. But, if there was a team that could do it, its this team. They are one of the most complete teams in the last 20 years. Only injuries can derail this train if everyone plays up to potential.
