Cowbell232 10-06-2008, 02:03 PM Last year that had some stuff outside on the closed off street for the first home game ever at the Rock. They had similar things at the Playoffs.
Some food/drinks that they had inside, plus a lot of childrens games and radio station contest/promotion type things. Not a whole lot really, but a good way to kill an 1/2 an hour to an hour before the game.
I do not know if they are doing it this year.

I honestly can't remember the last home opener I missed. Probably 1988-89, when I was 16 and that game was one of the hardest tickets to get in Devils history. Everyone and their grandmother wanted to be at that game.
I even passed up NYY-BOS game 7 to go see us raise the banner in 2003.

I will be in 227 row 9 for the game
I'll be there nice and early.. Likely behind the Devils net during warm ups so that time, or during intermission, would prob be the best time to catch me
daveskirtun 10-09-2008, 06:02 PM How's parking? I took the train every time last year so I'm thinking about driving for this one.
Colin Whites Eye 10-09-2008, 06:12 PM theres plenty of lots around the arena...some are further than others though so you might have to walk a bit
Game Breaker 10-09-2008, 06:26 PM How's parking? I took the train every time last year so I'm thinking about driving for this one.
It depends on where you are coming from. If you are coming from 95, I park in a garage under a triangle shaped office building. Its about a 3 block walk and is the cheapest of any lot around, at least the cheapest and safest I've seen. Its $11 for up to 4 hours, and $18 over. I've only had to pay $18 once, and that time, we got to the arena at about 5:30 and went to the shootout against Buffalo.
daveskirtun 10-09-2008, 06:29 PM Thanks guys, I think I should be getting parking passes but I wont be sure until tomorrow.
I just hate getting on the train from Dover, and I always end up argueing with the shuttle driver.

Well from what I heard you may not worry about the shuttle because it's been discontinued, according to NJ.com forums. You could drive, but if you get off at Broad St station, I'd wait to make sure it's running or not. If not, just take the light rail to Penn Station or 13,27 or 39 to Lafayette Street and show the driver/ticket officer your train ticket or pass.

ILikeItVeryMuch 10-09-2008, 07:39 PM Here is another question, how early is everyone leaving tomorrow? After a 3 hour work day to tie up some loose ends before the weekend I will be hopping on the Bay Head train with my group at 1 with a 30 pack.
Devils, Rangers and Isles fans on the train tomorrow, should be very interesting. Hoorayyyy beer

If you say so...I really have no idea.
That helmet is diesel! I hope people outside the arena can see it flashing!

I'll be on the 3:19 or 3:58 (Middletown time).. All depends on what time the lady gets out of class but will be starting up around 1..
Last year was insane without Isle fans.. Train was a mad house and the conductors just gave up or trying to collect the tickets
That helmet is pretty bad ass.. I see you often on the way in.. May have to stop, say hi, and compliment that beast

NJDevs26 10-09-2008, 08:11 PM Well from what I heard you may not worry about the shuttle because it's been discontinued, according to NJ.com forums. Seriously? No wonder the shuttle bus wasn't there for the last preseason game, aargh! :shakehead It would have been nice if some kind of announcement was made, maybe I wouldn't have lost a half hour last Friday.
So the train pass will work for the light rail, okay at least I don't have to pay any extra for the ride in. For the ride back I'll probably have to take the city bus to get back in time for the 9:59 train. I don't mind paying the $1.35 except it's going to be a pain in the butt to have exact change every single time.
Marv4Life 10-09-2008, 08:25 PM The monthly train pass works for the bus. As long as the pass has a zone number on it. The flash pass should work too but check the Devs' site anyway.
NJDevs26 10-09-2008, 08:28 PM I don't have either...does a regular roundtrip train ticket work for the bus or light rail?
btw if it's true, the Devils are really slow updating their website because I found this still there:
At Newark Broad Street Station, Academy Bus lines will provide arena-goers an express “Prudential Center” bus that will offer a free 8-minute ride to the arena for all Prudential Center events. Buses will drop-off and pick-up at Lafayette Street directly in front of the arena. NJ Transit buses 13, 27, 39 also service Prudential Center patrons at no charge with proof of a round trip train ticket.
Marv4Life 10-09-2008, 08:36 PM It should.
You can use your rail ticket for free travel on connecting bus or light rail service in Newark.

NJDevs26 10-09-2008, 08:38 PM Well even the shuttle bus returns I'm going myself Opening Night (especially since I'm going myself) so I might as well get a timetable for the city buses in case they do pull the rug out from under us.
