Did anyone see Rich Chere's article on Anssi Salmela? In it, he mentioned that Matt Corrente and Tyler Eckford were practicing with Lowell.

But what I didn't get was his read on Jay Leach. He made it sound like Jay Leach might stick with the team. I believe it was because Salmela could be sent down and brought back up without fear of anyone claiming him. But Leach would have to pass through waivers.

When did Jay Leach become a contender to stick on the Devils' blueline? Did I miss something? I thought he was brought in for depth on the Lowell backline, not New Jersey's?

Does anyone really believe that Jay Leach is going to be one of our top seven or eight defensemen? It would be a great story if he makes the team, but at who's expense???

Nope.

Jay Leach has already been put on waivers and is on his way to Lowell. He was just around as an extra d-man, after all..it's still pre-season.

I tried to attach the link to my post but it wouldn't work for some reason.

BTW, Jay Leach played tonight against the Flyers. He played a little over 11 minutes and was a minus one.

All cuts are supposed to be announced after the game. Leach will be sent down and if they call him up, I doubt anyone will claim him. Anyone disagree?
