It became official this afternoon - got tickets to the game next Friday - CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

I'll be making the 9 hour drive from north of Toronto to NJ, and I need to make sure the iPod is fired up for the trip!

What are some of your fav road trip/driving songs of all-time?!

If you have some good road trip stories, feel free to share those here as well!

Kind of funny, yet disheartening, that I was singing that after class today...

Play through entire albums, always a good thing. Maybe some Dream Theater or Avenged Sevenfold...something that isn't much screaming and took talent to write, something thats a story.

You have to be a cliched doouche and make the first song on your play list "Devil in Jersey City" by Coheed and Cambria...just for the opening verse.

I prefer music that no one else thats going to be in the car likes to listen to. Like Ben Folds or Radiohead. Actually i can't listen to radiohead in the car. I'd go crazy. But Ben Folds sounds good to me.

Graffiti is certainly more for an aficionado of Zeppelin than IV, but IV was the first Zeppelin album I ever listened to and it brings back the college days like no other. Kashmir is my favorite song ever by them, but something about just hearing the intro to Black Dog just puts me somewhere else that I don't want to come back from... and once i hear that - I can't turn the album off (nor should I).

I bought the Mothership album (all remastered greatest hits) and that's well worth the purchase although there is something pure and wholly satisfying by listening to the original albums in order from start to finish. Back then they actually took time to arrange the songs to be listened to in a certain sequence - unlike the ADHD catered 1 song at a time purchase power of itunes and such. (Yet another reason to love radiohead as they compile an album the old fashioned way and OK Computer is still genius).

"When the levee breaks", "No Quarter", and the elusive "Traveling riverside blues" my other personal favorites.

definitely go with full albums. On our road trips we tend to get a few new releases and listen to them at least twice. Every year we try go on a road trip or two. We always have our car flag waving and we get quite a few thumbs ups and beeps.

Last time I was on a road trip (to NYC), 'Life Is a Highway' happened to come on and that became our theme song.

Here it is - try to ignore the '80's stonewashed jeans :sarcasm: :

Some awesome suggestions so far - I have every Led Zep album on by 'Pod already, so that's doable! The last time I drove to NJ we listened to a few full Pearl Jam bootlegs and that was it

So far I have these ones on the list for sure (remember there is like 18 hours of driving here!)

Foo Fighters (In Your Honor)
Alter Bridge (Blackbird)
Shinedown (The Sound of Madness)
Led Zep (IV)
Pearl Jam (Vs.)
Nirvana (Unplugged)
Alice in Chains (Unplugged)
Porcupine Tree (In Absentia)
Dream Theater (Train of Thought)
Led Zep (BBC Sessions)

Rocks pretty good so far!

its an awesome album, and its a double album but if you are going with only 1 Foo Fighter album, it has to be The Colour and The Shape. it has songs like, My Hero, Everlong, Monkeywrench, Hey Johnny Park, Wind Up, Up In Arms.... just an awesome album. but IYH is great too, and by the looks of it, it seems like you like acoustic stuff and the B side of IYH is acoustic and really awesome

anyway have fun on your trip

Well, here´s my couple humble suggestions for you with some samples, sir:

Oasis - Definitely Maybe. Rock´n´roll star (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfNNpOhWR-c&feature=related)

Weezer - Green album. (No, there´s no Greene album available at stores) Hash pipe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqDnfKkw5lQ)

Ramones - Rocket to Russia. Sheena is a punk rocker (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDFWZpZLEW4)

Hellacopters - High visibility. Toys and flavors (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgHHFKpxjKs)

Billy Talent - II. Burn the evidence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJkUjRAj5OE)

Supergrass - Supergrass. Mary (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTygXj_8jbc)

And of course you can´t go wrong with Foo Fighters. Colour and the shape would be my choice for a road trip too.

I found it interesting that NJD TV has only used one song that has any sort of hippity hop influence in it, and it was in Marty's video. I wonder if Marty gangster like that.

not sure if you're an old school genesis fan or not - but you can't go wrong with Abacab, Invisible Touch, or Genesis-Genesis either... some great stuff there for car trips.
