halyndon 10-01-2008, 08:51 AM and write this article...
http://www.nypost.com/seven/10012008/sports/devils/devs_underachievers_look_to_rebound_131467.htm
First time i've seen him write something positive about the devs in a long time.
ILikeItVeryMuch 10-01-2008, 08:57 AM He jinxed us. Again.
CMac17 10-01-2008, 09:48 AM OK, I read up on some of the past articles following that link and there's one about John Madden. It's titled "Devils' Madden isn't ready for Rangers". Did I miss a pun in there? It doesn't go on to say anything of the sort?!?!

I noticed the same thing. I read that article a couple times to make sure.
Mr Bojanglez 10-01-2008, 09:52 AM He has gone a little overboard. What if guys like Salvador disappoint? I don't think Madden will put up the same numbers he did.
Still, there is a well-deserved sense of optimism this year among our fans
RMBoner Stabone 10-01-2008, 10:29 AM I don't think he's that far off the mark. They are built to win now and this team's offense is legitimate. Holik with size and agitation, Rolston and a bounce back year for Zajac, Zubrus, Pando and Langenbrunner are all very likely to happen. This team has a window for the next two/three years.
The question is on Defense and we can all talk about a top four being added. However, that remains to be seen. I see a monster year out of Martin and Oduya specifically when it comes to the PP.
The East is wide open this year and if a rumor I heard is true, the Atlantic paradigm is about to shift in a very significant way.
MoonDragn 10-01-2008, 11:21 AM He still called us Underachievers, even though we finished 6th in the league...

and in a year when many "experts" said the Devils wouldnt make the playoffz. IMO, last years squad hardly underachieved, it was about what I expected.

Well last year he said we wouldn't make the playoffs... So how can he call us underachievers if we exceeded his expectations?
Big#D 10-01-2008, 11:41 AM I didn't really read the article as being positive. He essentially said, "The Devils sucked last year. They couldn't really get much worse. I expect them to improve on their sucky performance from last year."
Gunnar Stahl 30 10-01-2008, 12:12 PM they went 32-2-2 when they scored more than two goals in regulation, but didn't get there 46 (14-27-5)
this is the stat i was talking about a while ago in another thread......what a joke
22ShouldBeRetired 10-01-2008, 12:33 PM I just sent the knucklehead an e-mail
dear underachieving writer
you write like a mad little boy who blogs on hockeyb--z its a shame you get paid to write this garbage
åboriginal 10-01-2008, 12:55 PM i dont ever read his garbage. its not even amusing anymore. hes a waste.
Game Breaker 10-01-2008, 01:37 PM this is the stat i was talking about a while ago in another thread......what a joke
And that's why Rolston is such a great addition to this team. He brings much needed offense and will contribute to Gionta's production. That extra offense right there will add points in the standings.

Captain Lou 10-01-2008, 02:09 PM and in a year when many "experts" said the Devils wouldnt make the playoffz. IMO, last years squad hardly underachieved, it was about what I expected.
Our forwards underachieved badly last year, except for Parise and Madden And the 1st half of Pando. Our defense sucked moose balls, like we knew they would. The difference, of course, was Marty. Without him, we get Stamkos. That's how awesome he was last year, and that is the only reason we got 99 points.
I, too, am looking for there guys to rebound and if there is a d-man to be had, Lou has to go and get him, because the East is even more wide open this year than ever.

iirc, two of the losses with the 32-2-2 record came with Weekes in net. So 3+ goals with Marty was pretty much a lock last year (or any other).
MKWing26 10-01-2008, 11:53 PM I wonder what magic formula he based all that math on...
I mean, hey, great, he's predicting 115 points, but I mean, he's just kinda throwing numbers around and calling it an article.
forceten 10-03-2008, 11:10 PM er.. not an Everson fan, but the underachieving bit was tongue in cheek.
Niedermayer21 10-04-2008, 02:38 AM I just heard that Everson has been declared "legally brain dead" by the same judge who declared Steve Fossett "legally dead."
Only Everson still gets to walk around and occasionally write articles for a right wing rag. ;)
