Speaking of Trenton the Leblonde fight is posted on hockeyfights.com vs. Brashear... if anyone is interested.

" Leblond continued his push for the team’s enforcer job Monday night, putting up an admirable performance against Donald Brashear. It was his third fight of the preseason and his third straight solid performance as well. Brent Sutter and company have noticed. "

Watched this kid a bunch in Trenton was always the muscle down there after the championship for Trenton he assumed the role with Steve Munn moving to the american league as well as captain and now head coach Rick Kowalsky.

Good to see him go for it. I was there with a good friend of mine and we called at the beginning of the game that they'd go at it. It didn't dissapoint Leblonde lost but, great showing. Lot of brass to stand in there and take those hits. Great potential....to take over Cam's old role. Very slow speed wise and needs to be more confident with the puck and not get rid of it right away. Upside Pierre did look good on the forecheck against the Capitals.

Couldn't find the fight link on Youtube but there is one of Pierre and Riley Cote...www.hockeyfights.com for the Brashear fight.

He'll definitely be Lowell's enforcer, but no way he makes the big squad. He's definitely built up his resume for the future though.

That's what everyone said about Janssen. I think Leblond will make the Devils. Maybe not this year, I grant you, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did make it this year.

As for everyone who was complaining about losing Janssen... he's replaced.

I think he could definitely make the team sooner or later. I meant I don't think he'll make it right now out of camp.

I could easily see the forward roster looking like:

Elias - Rolston - Gionta
Parise - Zajac - Langenbrunner
Pandolfo - Madden - Vrana
Zubrus - Holik - Clarkson
Rupp, Leblond

He has to clear waivers on his way back this year. Him and Vrana.

True. I'd love to see Leblond dress against the Rangers and Flyers especially.

I hope not, it's 2008, not 1978. I'd like to move beyond goonery if at all possible.

But they would Vrana, so lets keep him up here.

I guess I dont understand waivers, why would they have to clear when they havent played in a NHL reg. season game?

They've been under contract for over 3 years or something to one team. I believe that's how it works, minor league experience after awhile and they gain waiver eligibility.

Even after reading the waiver section of the CBA, I still dont get it. Why doesnt Murphy have to clear waivers? or does he but no one cares? Also, Spiller, Leach, Fedorov, Wiseman, Clemmensen and Tallackson all have to as well?

I was on the other side of the ice, so i got a better angle from where i was. So this is the opposite view in the video, Much clearer view...hopefully another video angle turns up.

Cam is a better finisher on his checks & more entertaining to watch on the ice. PLLL is bigger & can handle the larger fighters better.

I would still would rather have Cam on the team.

And Bingo was his name-o.

I'm tired of specialist players. When we go back to leading the league in scoring, then we can have a pure fighter. But for now, we can use all the well-rounded players we can get.

Probably not, but still possible that a team in desperate need of toughness from a guy who isn't terrible hockey wise at a cheap cost would claim him.

I'd rather have neither and keep someone that can play hockey.

Yet again a complete misunderstanding for the need of an enforcer especially with a team of skilled players like the Devils.

FYI when the Devils were tops in the league in scoring in 2001, Jim McKenzie played 53 games and Turner Stevenson played 69 games.

Leblond should make the team and play against opponents who pose a threat toughness-wise such as the Cryers.

Anyone who has actually taken the time to watch him closely this preseason would have noticed that he has played very well. Finishing hits, skating well, hasn't been out of position, and obviously fighting top guys and doing well.

If I had my choice between Leblond and Rupp it would be Leblond in a heartbeat.

Thanks chief for giving me the history lesson. That's why I brought it up. I knew that the 01 Devils had some enforcers. But Stevenson was far from a pure fighter. He had a pretty decent offensive game. Yes, McKenzie was a pure fighter.

I agree. But when they play against an aggressive, physical team, it's good to have a sheriff on the ice.

Me too, Rupp isn't a real fighter, he was kind of forced into the role when Janssen was hurt. Rupp isn't a real offensive threat either so why do we still have a spot for him on the team? Oooh ... he's on the 700 pound line, so that must mean we need him. I think if the line was only 650 lbs, we'd be ok too.

P3L doesnt seem to awful hockey wise. He seems to play a good fourth line game.

Energy without taking stupid penalties and not being on the ice for any opposing goals.
