I care a little bit but to be honest have yet to go to a game even though Trenton is alot closer to me then Newark. Heck I've been to more Lowell games. I do want to go to some games this year since it is so close for me.

The thing is, I don't really care about the other teams that are in our system. I don't find the games exciting at all....

And I go to Alberta, because Alberta is COOL! And because I have goals...

They have good ticket specials, 4 for $44 you get four tickets four sodas and four hot dogs. They have skate arounds after the sunday games and my kids love it. I usualy only go to maybe two games but the kids enjoy it.

My choice wasn't there. I don't drink the Kool-Aid. I like minor league hockey better than the majors.

I do think the ECHL and AHL teams help produce players Lou can use either as trade bait/lagniappe, or as future NHLers. When a team consistently drafts 21st or worse, the GM has to grow talent on the farm. And when you're growing hockey players, you can't do it with manure.

I enjoy minor league hockey and the SBA is a fun place to catch a game, i will probably make it to 2 or 3 Trenton games this season, but like it was said previously, I spend my money on the big club.

I've been going to Trenton games since day one in 1999. I even split a partial plan that year and I drove from Union County to go to the games. Their 2005 playoff run helped keep me sane during the lockout. I've never found their games to be boring. To me, it was always a bunch of guys trying their best almost every night, hoping to be noticed. While the talent may not be there, I always found the games to be very entertaining, and many times even more entertaining than NHL games, because these guys at least played hard every night.

The problem is, the team has stunk the last couple of years since their cup win, and the Devils haven't helped the situation. When that team first came along, the Sovereign Bank Arena was the most feared place to play in the entire ECHL. Every Friday and Saturday night home game used to sell out. They had actually added seats to accommodate the crowds they were getting. The place was deafening, and they had a real good group of die-hards. The Devils fixed all that though, since they apparently want their players to get used to the same atmosphere in every home arena.

Oh, and screw Taco Bell. DeLorenzo's is right down the street!!

Speaking for Vanderbeek, I suppose. And when the Devils leave Trenton, the Flyers will just move their farm team right back in. They'll let the local fan base know they want fan support, and the team in the SBC will play to sell-out crowds again. Lucky Trenton!

I can't really get interested. I feel like the ECHL is where hockey players go to die.

Some of the locals didnt warm up to the fact that there rival's farm club set up shop in the SBA. I love the arena, its just that Flyers country didnt seem like the best spot for our ECHL team.
If we want to establish the whole family of NJ teams we should....
Move Lowell to Brick/Lakewood.
Move Trenton to somewhere in NW/NE NJ.

Ill be paying attention this year....a good friend of mine just graduated Seton Hall and he's the radio play-by-play guy for them. So I'll be listening to a lot of the games on the radio.

I think a team's investment in a minor league affiliate can be a great thing. The Caps and Hershey Bears have had a great relationship recently. I don't think it all has to do with distance, but rather the quantity and quality of the prospects at the affiliate. When the Capitals were beginning their rebuild, they were with Portland, and I remember listening to Portland Pirates games on the internet even back before the lockout.

I voted the 2nd choice. Just can't get into it; not as much as a "distance" issue. They could move to South Mountain and I could care less. But as I said before, move Lowell to Trenton and Trenton to AC(they have an arena).

Lucky Trenton! Not true attendance was well on the decline with the Flyers still involed. Many Trenton diehards hated the fact that Philly would call up the better players off the roster and let them just sit in the press box at the AHL level. It's has always been a mix crowd of NHL supporters at ECHL games in Trenton. That mix being a virtual 3 way split between PHI,NJD and NYR fans.

Why our state capitol's newspapers would rather cover a Pennsylvania team (Phailures) rather than the home state team (Devils) is stupid. Trenton to Newark is not that far via train these days.
Screw the PA teams, show some Jersey pride in the Trenton area.

Speaking of Trenton the Leblonde fight is posted on hockeyfights.com vs. Brashear... if anyone is interested.

" Leblond continued his push for the team’s enforcer job Monday night, putting up an admirable performance against Donald Brashear. It was his third fight of the preseason and his third straight solid performance as well. Brent Sutter and company have noticed. "

I'm elitist on this, I've never stepped foot in the building.

I do think the branding was a huge mistake, though, because they put the Devils name on it and apparently have done everything the Devils "brand" does wrong, at a level where swinging the doors opening and hoping people show up is a recipe for total disaster.

If they had put the Devils name on the team and done things differently, they might have had something. It could be a proving ground to learn how to effectively run a hockey business, but I guess not.

The problem is that Trenton is still Flyers country. Plus, (for me) an hour + drive & it's the ECHL. If I'm gonna commute an hour + to a game, it will be for the NJ Devils team.

However, if they were to combine Lowell & Trenton & make Trenton the AHL team, I'd be more apt to go to games.

Trenton really isn't really Flyers country per se. Let's not forget that Bucks County is right across the river. Trenton gets Philly and NY affliates and there are divided loyalties. The fact is these things don't happen overnight and if you are Flyers fan, you are not going to support them whomever they are.

The ideal situation would be the following:

AHL: Trenton

ECHL: Atlantic City or Lakewood.

ECHL:
Lakewood area or in Red Bank (new arena would have to built)

AHL: Trenton, but fully market the team with tons of promotions, not half-arse like they do in Trenton now

i've been going to sba since it opened. i've been a season ticket holder for 5 years. the biggest problem facing the team is not the affiltion. the thunder are also affiliated with a ny team and have no trouble. and it's not the qaulity of players, the team couldn't even sell out durng the kelly cup run. leblonde is battling for a spot in newark right now, and there's a least half dozen guys in lowell that played in trenton. it's the marketing of the team. quite frankly the team wants to run a charity. they invite hoardes of poorly chapparoned school kids to run around while their parents sit up in the nosebleed seats. the team shows no loyalty to their season tickets holders.

Pretty much hitting it on the head. As my friends says it'd be nice to see some advertising in the Newark arena for them as well. Thing is when they made the Kelly Cup run the affiliation was split with the Flyers and Islanders i believe not NJ. If your talking about the year they won during the lockout in 04'. The Thunder was also advertised all over Yankee stadium and the train stations. I can't say i have been treated right by the ownership over the years i won't names or owners cough cough. They made up for it at the end of the year , even if they didn't know who i was. Looking forward to another year and Butch Seltzer is the best PA annoucer. Peter Griffin!!!

i have no problems with butch, or ed or anyone who works at arena level. they've always taken good care of me. i've never been a big fan of the music they play. it's a little too poppy for me but that may be as much about royalities as it family friendlineess and i'm musicphile by nature anyway. even the ushers are great when we have them. i can honestly say the only problem i've ever had with with any staff at the arena was when i had to explain to one of the fast food girls that chilli cheese fries come with chilli AND cheese not chilli OR cheese; or at least that's the way the sign was worded. but i clearly remember asking prior to one of the giveaway games if i was a season ticket holder and then telling me that that precluded me from playing. i'm not *****ing about not winning a plastic piggy bank. but what has the team got to gain from a 7 year old whose parents drag him to 1 game a year? i happened to stop in bridgeport last year on the way home from a business trip and they had a... get this... season ticket holder of the game giveaway. They blimp is gone. sure all it ever did was float aroudn and crash into things but i've seen other arenas where they dropped grocery store coupons or player cards.

Only 10 forwards

Kell
Henkel
Poli
Radoslovich
Gerbe
Burton
Bartlett
Harrison
Akeson
Castonguay

DMen (only 6 healthy)

Torti - on IR
Gunderson
Quaile
Paige
Cohen
Leaderer
Dyment

Frazee
Smith

No excuse to be this far in and not have even a single spare healthy forward or defensemen, especially with 3 games in 3 days this weekend. Great strategy.
