LOL this is my ancestry. "Chuk" or "Czuk" is of Ukrainian origin. Lots of Poles and Ukrainians have this in their surnames. Before the 19th century Ukrainians were called Rusyns. :D;)

It's a Polish/Ukrainian ending, originally spelled -czuk. Loosely translated, it stands for "son of". I will spare you the trouble of the obvious "Biatchuk". :D Kovalchuk I think translates to a son of a blacksmith, etc.
