Montreal's young forwards look nicest.
Who can give the Ducks the best return for Schneider?Heavy Hussar 08-29-2008, 01:37 AM Montreal's young forwards look nicest. Static 08-29-2008, 01:55 AM Ottawa looks to be most desperate, so I choose them. Randall Graves* 08-29-2008, 02:05 AM It depends how this Meszaros thing shakes out, and on what Sundin does before teams are impatient. snarktacular 08-29-2008, 02:10 AM LA? NJ (after another cap clearing move)? Columbus? Atlanta? I'm gonna go with Ottawa. Tfighter 08-29-2008, 12:36 PM Ottawa if they choose to keep the picks. iLau 08-29-2008, 01:23 PM I also choose Ottawa, but it all depends on how the Meszaros thing ends up. Diggy 08-29-2008, 02:20 PM I choose Vancouver. I think their new GM is desperate to have a better showing then they had last season to justify his job and I don't think he has put enough things together yet to do it. KINGS17 08-30-2008, 02:03 PM Ottawa picked up two defensemen in the TB trade, so scratch them. karacter 08-30-2008, 05:45 PM a team that misses out on sundin Duckstudd269 08-31-2008, 03:12 PM LA because they would have to offer more then most to get him. hoofhearted 09-02-2008, 11:42 AM I have a feeling Vancouver - starting to smell desperation from Gillis, rookie GM, no significant success in the UFA market - ripe for a fleecing in my opinion. jumptheshark 09-02-2008, 11:59 AM When the ducks do sign Selenne--they will be on the south side of the cap by maybe 6mill or Schneider' contract. I think the fans of the canucks are more concerned then the GM is timw33 09-08-2008, 12:57 AM Lukas Krajicek + Random mid level D prospect for AHL team? Finnpin 09-13-2008, 04:47 AM Well Montreal isn't after Sundin anymore...and they still need pp dman. Burke make it happen! crazyforhockey 09-13-2008, 06:10 PM Maybe it will be Anh who will be desperate, and will have to nearly give away Schneider to make it under the cap. Why does LA want to help Anh get under the cap and give them some prospects that will come back to haunt them??? And hes already 39yrs old. Arselona 09-13-2008, 07:34 PM Maybe it will be Anh who will be desperate, and will have to nearly give away Schneider to make it under the cap. Why does LA want to help Anh get under the cap and give them some prospects that will come back to haunt them??? And hes already 39yrs old. The talks have been that Burke should be realistically looking for a lesser prospect + 3th-7th round pick or maybe just a pick. The trade would make sense since 1) ANA is currently over the cap 2) LA is under the cap and could have use for one year of good lefty veteran defensman to help their young corps and 3) Mathieu Schneider wouldn't need to move across the country if he was traded to Kings. TheJoeMan 09-13-2008, 07:44 PM Maybe it will be Anh who will be desperate, and will have to nearly give away Schneider to make it under the cap. Why does LA want to help Anh get under the cap and give them some prospects that will come back to haunt them??? And hes already 39yrs old. Anaheim would be helping LA almost as much as LA would be helping Anaheim. The Kings need a veteran d-man badly. Everyone is making a big deal about the whole cap floor problem with the Kings but that's not why Lombardi will acquire Schneider. The defense he has right now is too young and not talented enough. Schneider will be perfect for one season. He's familiar with the area and the organization and should help them out a lot. But the Kings are a ways away from being a threat to the Ducks so giving them such a talented player doesn't really matter. Reaper45 09-13-2008, 08:09 PM We'll give you Bryan Cameron for Schneider. Sound fair? Or a 3rd. CHoonie 09-13-2008, 10:25 PM none of the options appealed to me, so i voted other. which young montreal forwards do you think we could land? arinkrat* 09-13-2008, 11:41 PM none of the options appealed to me, so i voted other. which young montreal forwards do you think we could land? None now that Montreal signed Lang. TheJoeMan 09-14-2008, 01:53 AM We'll give you Bryan Cameron for Schneider. Sound fair? Or a 3rd. Sounds good to me. I much prefer prospects to picks any day. snarktacular 09-14-2008, 02:56 AM Anyone see the Elliott bit in the Times today? http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-elliott13-2008sep13,0,3651511.column?track=rss She says that Burke has been talking to Lombardi about Schneider, but that it seems to be in the exploratory phase. Lombardi, refusing to comment on any specific players, said "I've always said there are three levels of deals -- kick the tires, matching needs and the finer strokes. We have a number of things at level B but we're still not quite there. Something can always come up during camp. We're OK right now." kenabnrmal 09-15-2008, 02:27 PM Sounds good to me. I much prefer prospects to picks any day. Not to hijack, but I'm curious why you "much prefer prospects to picks". Not sure I 100% disagree, but I'm interested in the reasoning. snarktacular 09-15-2008, 03:02 PM Not to hijack, but I'm curious why you "much prefer prospects to picks". Not sure I 100% disagree, but I'm interested in the reasoning. Especially when the prospects we have been getting in trades recently have sucked (Birner, Keith, Platt, Bochenski, King, Dixon, Karl Stewart, Coleman, Skinner). Although I actually also prefer prospects when they're not the "failed throw-in" type. TheJoeMan 09-15-2008, 03:06 PM Not to hijack, but I'm curious why you "much prefer prospects to picks". Not sure I 100% disagree, but I'm interested in the reasoning. Well right now we're so stocked with prospects that were recent draft picks that are no where near playing on this team that I feel we don't really need anymore. At least not at the expense of a ready-made minor leaguer. Plus our minor team has been completely overhauled this summer so any new bodies are welcome. kenabnrmal 09-16-2008, 09:22 AM With the exception of blue-chip sorts of prospects who have shown genuine promise since being drafted, I've always leaned towards draft pics. Seems to give you more flexibility and upside. nabob 09-16-2008, 11:40 PM I voted for other, namely NO ONE. :p: He could still possibly be traded if he doesnt get claimed but Im betting that Burke would have to add something to get rid of his contract now. Sure seems like no one is willing to do any favors for Burke right now, maybe his constant trashing of Lowe has soured standing with other GMs Mooseduck 09-16-2008, 11:51 PM I voted for other, namely NO ONE. :p: He could still possibly be traded if he doesnt get claimed but Im betting that Burke would have to add something to get rid of his contract now. GMs do favors for each other ... Neato nabob 09-16-2008, 11:59 PM So, is that how it works? GMs do favors for each other ... Neato Sometimes yes. They are not always working against each other. Im too tired to think of any specific instances right now but ill get back to you on that. jumptheshark 09-17-2008, 09:38 AM I think the kings might claim him if he is on waivers to get to the floor. The Ducks need to dosomething. Even releasing Marchant does not get them under the cap and they have no room to sign Temmu. Ducks are not done heyfolks 09-17-2008, 12:10 PM We all now know the right answer is OTHER. I wonder what the Leafs would give the Ducks for Burke?! We could bring Robbie Earl back to SoCal! | ||
