According to Swedish newspaper expressen former Pittsburgh defenceman Ross Lupaschuk has recieved an invetation to the Ducks training camp.
The article is in Swedish:

The article pretty much says that Lupaschuk has played in three games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and that he became known for his booming slap shot in his stint in the SEL. It doesn't say much about him attending camp, just that he will give the NHL another shot and see if he could be successful.

Well I guess he will be given a chance to earn the 7th d-man spot after Schneider is traded. (which could happen tonight or tomorrow morning according to Eklund)
Niedermayer-Beauchemin
Pronger-O'Donnell
Huskins-Montador
competition for the final d-man spot:
Brendan Mikkelson
Brian Salcido
Brennan Evans
Ross Lupaschuk

I'd put him further down that list. Festerling should be right behind Salcido/Mikkelson and I'd have DeGray and Bickel behind Evans but still in front of this other guy. He may not even get a contract. Try-out players usually don't last that long with the Ducks. Steve Shields lasted a little while but was ultimately cut.

Well looks like he's an offensive defensemen with decent size if he can skate maybe he can be another HUskins for us.

That's a pretty impressive PIM total for 05-06. Did he fight or something and get huge minutes? It is the SEL that has like a gazillion PIMs for a fight right?

He played in Russia.
Here's a quote from Ross I saw in USA today:
"I'm going to give it one last kick at the can ... just to know if I could have made it," he said. "I'd like to have the NHL on my (resume). The money is secondary now." Lupaschuk played the 2007/08 season in Russia for Omsk Avangard, notching 22 points and 46 penalty minutes in 45 games.

So basically an offensive D-man who likes to fight? He's really going to have to work hard and really impress to crack our top 6 or even top 7.
He never frighted in Russia. Average defender with crappy skating and above-average shot.

Lol, Ross Lupashuck... You know what kind of player he is when Malmö and some Russian team has signed him.
