I was watching the 2001 final highlights on youtube, thankfully McKay is only uploading our positive highlights...
Watching this video just reminded me of the joy I felt tying up the series and then being 1 god damn home win away....

...all it does it turn back into the horrible agony. 2003 made up for some of it but this **** still hurts, alot. I was 18 in 2001 so that series in my mind is the darkest moment in my sports life (1994 killed me, but I was also 11 years old) along with the Yankees choking away the 2004 ALCS.
Oh yeah, people who talk **** on our crowds can suck a big ****, we almost knocked that ****ing place down it was so loud.

That's the kind of team that wins championships. One that's got some hair on its peaches.

I really hope we don't come out like a bunch of ****ing hippies again this year. That's one of the biggest reasons I want Corrente on this team, I don't care he's a hothead, I want someone out there that's going to be an absolute animal every shift.

add bourque to that list....what a cup *****. thats why i admire a player like sundin...didnt ask for a trade just to win a cup. seems like he wants to earn it not just get traded to a contender.

the trade that brought bourque to avs interestingly enough was: Ray Bourque, Dave Andreychuk*

for

Brian Rolston, Martin Grenier, Samuel Pahlsson, 2000 or 2001 first round pick (Bruins option) (2000 #27-Martin Samuelsson)*

although they didnt win until the year after when bourque re-signed (but we all know that already)

I never say never..but I highly doubt this is the case. Most Devils fans, including myself, would like to believe this, but Colorado just simply outplayed us. We were not able to shut them down the way we shut down the Wings in '95.

Of course McKay not getting hurt would have helped us tremendously. ;)

2007 wasn't bad, though obviously we didn't have the desired finish that you guys have chalked up a bunch of times.

The 2003 ECF was quite frankly the most nervous I have ever been during a playoff series, I have to say that Sens 2003 team is right up next to the Devils 2001 team in the category of best squad not to win the cup.

That was a great series. Brodeur showed while he is one of the best in game 7. Ottawa had some great chances in the final minutes, but Marty came up huge. Why can't Ottawa have goaltending like that? :(

I remember people saying they were sorry to me because of the loss. It really is something devastating and honestly, I would rather lose in the first round than to get that far and lose, especially in a game 7.

P.S. DevsOwnYou, how did you make the picture of my girlfriend your avatar? ;) I wish...

That whole playoffs something just didn't seem right with the team, after just a ridiculous season. We had the Hurricanes completely devastated and dropped two straight to them and had to fight to knock them out. In round two we came out terribly flat in game 1 (I blame Claude the trumpet guy), and had to come from down 3-2 in the series to put that one away. Granted, the Conference Finals was one of the more dominating series we've ever won, but 2-3 bad minutes in game 2 and we lost that game. How you can come out for the second straight year with the Cup in your building and not score a goal for the second straight year is just insanity.

I've said it before and I'll say it forever....I am beyond over 1994. I could honestly care less about it, but 2001 hurts today just as much as it did seven years ago. Driving to game six I was planning the next day and what stores I would be going to for back-to-back Cup merchandise and newspapers as well as calling out of work, how that team just shut down after Gomez kicked it in is just horrifying.

Oh, and Marty said the refs were skating up to Borque during the series and telling him they were hoping he'd win it. Nice.

yeah pretty much, he played his whole career with Boston except 2 seasons, its like for Rod Woodson(CB for the Steelers) to get his Jersey retired for the Ravens cause in his end of his career he won the Superbowl(2000's one.) Pretty stupid.

No one find the fact that after we won our 2 first cups(1995 and 2000) they won their 2 firsts(1996 and 2001 ?)

I CALL CONSIPARACY BUTTMAN !

I haven't gotten to the 2nd page yet....but as far as I know, Bourque didn't demand a trade. Management knew they weren't going to win with the team they had and knew Bourque was on his way out of the league. They asked if he wanted to be traded for a chance to win a cup and he said yes.

So, don't say that Sundin is better than Bourque because of that. As far as I know, the Bruin faithful weren't pissed that he left.

And that I totally agree with. I laughed this past year when I went to Colorado and I saw that!

Definitely the best feeling I've experienced as a fan as well. Or maybe the "most recent awesome feeling"... I was at Rhythm 'n' Booze in Brooklyn with 2 (very drunk) friends and we didn't take our eyes off the TV all night - that late goal sent us into hysterics and unfortunately we'd failed to realize that some couples had come in to enjoy a dinner... All we heard from the other room was this one lady, "oh... my"

I never got to notice how quiet that building in OTT got that night until watching YouTube highlights.

What a great series, agreed.

I yelled so loud for so long after Friesen scored that my neighbor actually came to the house to find out what happened... I had the "privilege" of being at game 1 of that ECF - OT loss... it may be quiet there when OTT loses, but when they win in OT, you literally want to disappear.
