I'm pretty sure that everyone on this board realizes that there is a chance that Bergfors does not make the big team. If he does play in the NHL, however, he will be on the top two lines.

The only debate really should be what that chance is that he makes the NHL. Some people think he is almost a shoo-in (although who I'm not sure) while others think he has an uphill battle to climb. Most of us fall in between those two extremes.

The question listed ten players and asked for a final two. As Clarkson is one of the players most likely to be on the starting roster, but not the only possibility, then I say it's quite probable he will be one of the final two.

Devils brass still like Tallackson. If he shows any kind of effort (coupled with improvement) we're likely to see him again at some stage.

Don't panic though, this will be his final chance. Either he starts to produce or he'll be gone.

They only use Tallackson for spot call ups when it's only going to be for one or two games playing 6 min a game at most

Maybe if regressed so tremendously in his progress that he needs another year in lowell, i dont see why he wouldnt make the team, if he already made it once.

obviously your logic is flawed, because Holik was brought in to play 4th line center for 2.5 mil. I do not think money is an issue on wear we play our guys. And Pandolfo is making 2+ million too.

Sorry. Had to do it. What would a Devils thread be without a lineup?

Bergfors did NOT play his way onto the team from camp last year. He was only there because of Langenbrunners injury. Who was our other option, Noah Clarke? He scored one goal in a preseason game against the Flyers then got an empty netter later in the game. Big deal. Then he got thrown around like a rag doll in his only NHL game and got injured. He finished the year in Lowell putting up his worst numbers in his pro career. It was a good chance to show that he belonged and he obviously didnt.

This guy is not going to be handed a spot. He has to earn it by playing amazing in training camp or actually producing in the AHL. Im tired of people thinking this kid is privelaged because hes a first round pick who had a terrific season as an 18 year old and hasnt done anything since. Vrana has actually paid his dues, Bergfors has not.

Best thing to do with Bergfors now (assuming he doesnt make the team) is give him one more chance in Lowell and if he doesnt produce, retain his rights but let him play in Europe. He needs a shakeup.

I guarantee you Sutter is going into training camp with something like this in his head:

The empty spot will be battled for by Bergfors, Vrana, Pelley, and Fedorov. The lineup is obviously flexible (ex:if Bergfors made it, Langenbrunner and Zubrus would be shifted down a line) based on everyones play, but the point is these 4 guys have to EARN theyre spot in the lineup. I predict Vrana will win the spot out of camp. Fedorov may be given first look but I dont think hell stick. If none of Vrana, Bergfors, or Fedorov earn it, Pelley is the safe choice to split time with Rupp.

we have quite the N00B lineup here at HF boards. Clearly Harrison Ford already proved his worth to the Big Club. But the n00b lineup will be fighting it out to stay off the NYR board.

I like school better at LW, but I think he's versatile enough to be both annoying and insightful at center. Bob Saget hasn't proven to have enough play-making ability to play center. He's a solid newbie to play the 4th line, averaging 5 posts/per day

I like that checking line. Swede might be a little weak at center, but his play making helps out his wingers/grinders. If you need more grit, you can always add BG. Most solid 4th-line ever. And look at our defense depth! Watchout Montreal, we're coming for you!

Do you think Bergfors has a chance at cracking the lineup? I think he can benefit from the veteran presence of Devilsfan and Brit. As Ronnie Bass stated before, if he's not going to be posting high, it might not be worth it to bring him in.

ah the good ol' PFT - what was that (ROTC was a LONG long time ago in a galaxy far far away).

something like max situps in 2 minutes (40 min), max pushups in 2 minutes (min 20), chinups (3 min), standing long jump (forget the min), 1.5 mile run in under 14 minutes.

Those were fun... not. Funny thing is I can probably do more pushups and situps now than I could back then. No way I beat my 10 minute run time though... :cry:

No way aboriginal accepts third pairing minutes.

He'll be out there so long you'll need to hope he gets a penalty and you can bar the penalty box door. I doubt his discipline; may spend more time deep than Coffey.

Those right-wingers are a scary bunch though; sarcasm and shift-disturbing a speciality. I think we know that Brit, Muttley and Randal should play together in the last minute of an any old-fashioned shellacking.

ouch, 3rd pairing dman...i was the second leading pointer getter(cept my final year i was 3rd:rant:) on my high school team in west islip:p:. and also 1st pk in which me and my centerman received an award for never having a single pp goal scored when we were on the pk:p:. as for when we got on the bench, well...thats the 2nd pk lines problem:D. but ok coach, youre da boss ill plays where ya tells me:laugh::laugh:.

Huh? The only reason Bergfors and Vrana didn't get called up last year is because the coaching staff didn't want them to play on the bottom two lines. Playing on the 4th line will no benefit Bergfors or the Devils in any way. It's top 6 or bust for Bergfors coming out of camp.

Oh I know. I just wanted to see what you really thought (and I figured you were realistic and had him on the third pairing) and mostly wanted to set up the last part about the four guys being better than him.

By the way, I think my opinion about Greene's hockey ability is similar to yours, just without the infatuation. I just like to pick on people's perceived weaknesses (you with Greene, RG being a touchy-feely marketing guy, etc.). I have two rules about cheap shots / one-liners in life (rules to live by):

1) If you can't pick on the weak and helpless, who can you pick on?
2) If someone picks on you, make them feel like dirt.

Thanks dude! I've been on vacation the whole summer, was down in former Yugoslavia and visited my roots...so I stayed away from computers and the internet. But now I'm back and can't wait to get the new season started. Should be a great one!

I've missed this board...it's become a daily routine, so when you're away from it for a while you get the sense that a part of you is missing. Now I got it back though. ;)
