ILikeItVeryMuch 08-07-2008, 03:29 PM McKaylotsanumbers comes through again, the video quality is jumpy but still we have some great ESPN footage that probably hasn't been hosted on the internet in a long time.

Mr Bojanglez 08-07-2008, 04:21 PM I miss Sykora
Harrison Ford 08-07-2008, 04:22 PM not as much as i miss Arnott.
Devilsfanatic 08-07-2008, 04:31 PM Two things: Can't wait to see Holik causing **** again for us. I love the guy when I see his old Devils clips like that.
Second thing: Randy McKay's mustache FTW!

jkrdevil 08-07-2008, 06:25 PM That series is up there as one of the most dominating series the Devils had ever played. If it wasn't for a bad second period which cost them a win in Game 2 that would have been an easy sweep.
ILikeItVeryMuch 08-08-2008, 02:08 PM With all respect to Mario, he really lost his cool with that cheapshot on Madden.

I'm guessing thats when Dog yelled "ACE!" and the Pens passed it right to him thinking it was Mario who yelled it.

yeah I remember that story, Mario totally lost his cool on that. :handclap:
Sarge18 08-08-2008, 04:51 PM The one year Scotty doesn't pick up the Prince of Whales trophy and look what happens...
ILikeItVeryMuch 08-08-2008, 05:42 PM Wow I completely forgot about the Ace story, haha.
Atta boy Maddog.
fortheloveof666 08-08-2008, 07:28 PM I know we don't wanna see our guy get hacked down like that, but as someone that always adored Lemieux over Gretzky, I think it's **** like that which makes him so much greater. He did have a fire in him and he did get pretty physical sometimes.
Gretzky probably would have went and cried in the locker room or told McSorley or someone to go out there and beat them up for him because he was all butt hurt about it. Super Mario went out there and took it out on him with his stick. THAT is a ****ing hockey player...no matter how wrong and how bad the timing of it was.

With that logic, Hollweg is an All-Star. :sarcasm:
Im just playing, i agree with you. And just to think, if Pit, didnt absolutely tank it, we would have had him on our team, and 66 would be up in the rafters. :shakehead

haha...touche my friend. But Mario didn't go out there every time he got mad and try to butt **** anyone that had their back turned to him. I mean Maddog really did do something that's somewhat of a no-no. I mean I'm not saying I'm above doing it, but ya know...people take **** personally.
And yeah...I wish we had Mario, even through all his troubles, the guy is a legend and he doesn't need the point totals to prove it. The guy endured so much during his career and just still played at an incredibly high level.
Something I'll always say is...you know the guy is respected when he can go into Philly for a big game and be cheered by their fans on a rival club.
I will always hold Mario in a far greater light than Wayne Gretzky and I really don't care who disagrees. You could seriously call the Masterton (sic?) the Lemieux award. Hell, if he didn't die on the ice, I bet it would be called that by now.

But yeah, I totally agree with you on every point. He was such a great player to watch. Everytime i see the game where he came back, i get chills.

Dude when he came back after retiring I seriously felt kinda emotional about it. I mean I'm a pretty apathetic dude and it was just something special. He's a guy I always respected and looked up to (along with Joe Sakic) and when I played hockey I always wore #66 in honor of him.
I would have typically wore another number but I just felt like for someone to be so influential and such an inspiration to me that for all he went through I would wear it.
Sure as **** the first season I wore it we improbably won a championship against a team we were 0-4 against 14-2 and I managed to pick myself up 5 goals. :yo:
If he landed in NJ though, I think our history may have been a bit different. But we'll never know.
I Miss that old Goal horn, made Boring Devils Hockey a little more entertaining. This new one is horrible, it doesn't sound well when doc sais scores.

Devilsfanatic 08-09-2008, 05:17 PM Mario is my favorite hockey player this side of the Mason Dixon Line. But really, I loved the guy, he has a higher PPG than Gretzky and if he was healthy throughout his career like Gretzky, he'd be the best of all time. Plus he played his entire career with one team, unlike Wayne, which is quite an accomplishment in its own right. If he's on the Devils from 84 on, the Devils probably have 4-6 Stanley Cups easily.
Lemieux-Stevens-Niedermayer-Brodeur all on one team?!?!?! SHEESH.

I Think you need loud fans for a goal horn like that or else it wouldn't sound as good. I'm just so used to hearing Doc's Scooores with that old horn.
Semak20 08-10-2008, 12:19 AM I miss Sykora
You and me both

I miss the old horn and with Rock & Roll part 2(I know, I know, Gary frickin Giltter).
Mario def gets more respect from me than 99. I can't remember the year off the top my head('93?), but when he came back to over take LaFontaine in the scoring race when LaFonataine was playing out of his mind, I was like WOW:amazed: The guy was truly great, even though he was hardly ever healthy. I think that was also the year he had a sick game against the Rags. Help me out people.
