Simple question, who do you think has a better shot of making the big team this year?
Petr Vrana or Nicklas BergforsHarrison Ford 08-05-2008, 07:02 PM Simple question, who do you think has a better shot of making the big team this year? devilzrule27 08-05-2008, 07:05 PM Bergfors. I think the Devils as an organization are higher on him and seem more willing to squeeze him onto the roster. devilzrule27 08-05-2008, 07:07 PM now that i think of it maybe Vrana has a better shot at making the team since the devils are more likely to use him on the 4th line where as with Bergfors its a scoring line or lowell. Hmm. this was tougher than i thought... Harrison Ford 08-05-2008, 07:08 PM  i know thats why i asked it devilzrule27 08-05-2008, 07:09 PM  i know thats why i asked it Damn you!!! DEVILS ALL THE WAY 08-05-2008, 07:49 PM I don't mean to be a ballbuster but I don't think either of them will make the big club this season. 1st Reason: With the signing of Holik, that gave Vrana a free pass to Lowell. He'll problably get called up a couple of times during the season. Just hope they call him up rather then MOTHER****ING TALLACKSON  2nd Reason: With the signing of Fedorov, I can actually see him make our top 6. The guy has all the talent in the world but was a head case when he played in the NHL... about 4 or 5 years ago. If he can get his **** together, Bergfors will spend another season in the minors or most problably get traded in a package for a top 4 d-men. I think that the only way Bergfors makes the team full time is if Fedor doesn't. Semak20 08-05-2008, 08:17 PM The chance for Bergfors to make the team like last year should be there, but the Rolston signing does hinder it. With Sarge out of the picture, you would think that Vrana would get a decent shot also. With the Holik signing, it might make Rupp expendable, opening a bottom six spot for Vrana. But Devils All the Way's gun to my head:naughty:, I'm guessing Bergfors. Darius Dangleaitis 08-05-2008, 08:38 PM It all depends on which of our current roster players fits where. If Zubrus is included in the top six, then Vrana has the better shot. If Zubrus is put on the fourth line (which seems to be a very reasonable option), then Bergfors has a better shot. Elias-Rolston-Gionta Parise-Zajac-Bergfors/Zubrus Pandolfo-Madden-Langenbrunner Zubrus/Vrana-Holik-Clarkson My ideal lineup would be the one with Bergfors in it, but we shall see. Well put:nod: Zubrus role is key. BenedictGomez 08-05-2008, 09:39 PM I have absolutely no idea. And I think that's the correct answer to that question. HBK27 08-05-2008, 09:44 PM now that i think of it maybe Vrana has a better shot at making the team since the devils are more likely to use him on the 4th line where as with Bergfors its a scoring line or lowell. Hmm. this was tougher than i thought... Kind of what I'm leaning towards as well. I think with Vrana being older & probably developing about as much as he can in the AHL, the Devils would be more likely to use him in different roles & even have him up with the big club as an occasional scratch or player rotated in & out. Bergfors has the higher ceiling, but he can probably develop a bit more in the AHL & may be better suited for a longer stint on one of the scoring lines when someone goes down with an injury. Tough question though. I really hope there's a way they both make it though. Elias to Parise 08-05-2008, 09:47 PM Vrana, because he could make the team on the 3rd or 4th lines. No matter what Lou and Conte said about the both having to be on the top two lines. fluffernutter mf 08-05-2008, 10:20 PM I voted Bergfors, but now that I think about it, I think Vrana has a better shot. He's older, more proven, and doesn't really need to play on the first or second line to be successful. britdevil 08-06-2008, 04:39 AM Picklas Vranfors Big#D 08-06-2008, 08:44 AM If Bergfors makes the team, I think that Gionta is gone. That's why I think Vrana is more likely. He will be the new Brylin -- the team utilty man able to play on any line at any position. Even then, I think he'll start the year as a reserve forward. Richer's Ghost 08-06-2008, 09:39 AM Picklas Vranfors His nickname should be either pickles or burgers :) Devils Pride 26 08-06-2008, 09:55 AM Vrana, because it's now or never for him. I'm 90% sure that he would have to go through waivers if he starts in Lowell. Also, I vaguely remember a report saying if Vrana didn't make the team he would go back to Europe. 4check22 08-06-2008, 10:50 AM I'd love to see Bergfors become an outstanding talent on the second line, and perhaps he will, but . . . I think Vrana has the better shot for all the reasons you guys said above and because he is the nastier player. He'll fit in well on the wing with Holik. I know he is a natural center, but putting him on the wing reduces some of his defensive responsibilities and opens him up to score and agitate. The Jersey Devil 08-06-2008, 10:51 AM Vrana, because it's now or never for him. I'm 90% sure that he would have to go through waivers if he starts in Lowell. Also, I vaguely remember a report saying if Vrana didn't make the team he would go back to Europe. There's a window of time before the season begins where any player can be sent up or down and not have to pass through waivers. | ||
