Why should we continue to care? He said something stupid, he manned up and showed up to a game he went to the bar and got taunted. It's over.

Maybe we should worry about chanting for our own team because it doesn't happen often, at least not in unison.

He apologized.
He didn't hide.
He came to Newark and took a tour.
He seemed sincere about his apology and positive comments about Newark.
He brought positive coverage to the city.
It's over. He made his comments. We had our fun with him. Let's move on.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they were throwing them at us and Marty had to hide in his net.

My memory is foggy but I almost want to say it happened in the 02 playoffs.

Yup...he handled the whole thing rather well after making his comment. The guy used to talk for a living...every once in a while, you're going to say something stupid. He manned up to it though, so it's over & done with.

The sad thing is, stuff like that happens in every big city. Does anyone have recent crime statistics for Newark? I would bet that it has improved as it has been doing each year.

I'll bet Trenton and Camden's violent crime and homicide rates are much worse than Newark's, per capita. If anyone has the time to look them up for the 2008 calender year be my guest.

I think I read an article months back that crime in Newark is down. I don't know the exact number, but I'm pretty sure that Newark's crime is lower.

But yeah, that stuff happens. It was tough to follow that in the paper like I did, but by trying to prove a point about a city using one killing is not fair.

I remember bs'ing with a Newark police officer before a game, he basically told me that its night and day with the attitude around Downtown Newark since the arena was built. I had nothing but positive experiences in the city last season, and alot of people share my feeling as well.

I feel the exact same way. When people asked me if the perception about downtown Newark was true, that it wasn't the best place to be, I told them that if I had blindfolded a complete stranger to Eastern cities and placed them in the middle of downtown, they wouldn't have been able to tell if it was Newark, or any other Eastern city.

I had no fears from my first step out of Penn Station for my first game.

Yep, I like to call that the Irvington side. Ooo boy, I don't wanna be caught in there. My dad's company was working on a building a few months back, and some guy stole a GPS right in broad daylight from a company truck.

Obviously, that's a small crime, but it's indicative of the nature there.

oh come ON. he did NOT show his face for a full house at The Rock.

We should do, at least once:

"STEAL MY WALL-ET" clap clap clapclapclap "STEAL MY WALL-ET"

we should try to contact anyone we know who has seats behind the Lightning bench just to put pictures of wallets up on the glass.

It's old news already...

Should we start chanting "Mickey Mouse" when the Yotes come to town too or did you let that one go yet?

We can't even get the crowd to chant "Let's Go Devils" very well in unison...good luck trying to get that chant to catch on...
