Hanks pads for 08-09

Not sure if anyones seen this yet, but these are the new TPS Response R10's that I assume Lundqvist will be wearing for this year...

At first sight they look pretty ugly, but I've seen some different angles and different color designs and they actually look really nice.

Sweet looking pads, after you look at them for a couple seconds :laugh::yo:

Well every pad is checked by the NHL so his pads have always been legit. What I have read is that he has a 36+2 which means the thigh rise is +2 inches which is very normal, but what makes it look so big is that he has the knee part on the face of the pad moved down by TPS and thats what makes it look longer even though it really isn't.

That all could be for not though because there are new regulations that are in developement.

Besides, any size "reductions" won't take place until 2009-2010 season. Essentially, goalie equipment is sized according to proportion... you get pads that are sized to protect you, and no more than that.

Yeah, but for everyone that thinks Lundqvists thigh rise is enormous it really isn't, its because he has mods done to them to make the knee part farther down (these are a flat face and don't even have that) but his thigh rise is what 90 % of pads are out there these days, a +2. He will lose some of his extra padding just like everyone else except maybe Brodeur, he doesn't have any bigger pads than the next guy.

Heres some different looks, you can kinda see what they look in the Butterfly. They are definitely growing on me quickly.

Dude, all it takes is the drive to play. I started last year for my first time... and now I am playing in some pretty average leagues at Woodbridge. So go for it man. :)

i for one can give a shi t less what his pads look like, so long as they are stopping the puck and winning us games. He could be wearing hello kitty pads for all i care as long as he's beatin the debbies and isles every game.

I absolutely LOVE the fact that Henrik has changed his mask-design every year. It's such a cool, unique thing.

As of now, I rank them 2nd year Mask > 3rd year Mask > Rookie year Mask.

yeah but the picture he has is the 2nd year pads, which were the best ones, the rookie year ones were horrible.

I love all of these pads, and i like the new ones, there different. i bet he's going to be the only goalie in the league wearing them.

Those are absolutely hideous. It looks like something straight out of the early 90's, all they need are neon green and and baby blue colors. Last 2 years pads were pretty cool, and the best he's had.

But, like we've mentioned, all that matters is his performance with them. That said, a goaless year wouldn't make up for how bad these look... Ok of course it will but I hate these a lot.

I like the pads: they're ugly and should make opposing shooters dizzy. Honestly, I don't care if they're hot pink as long as they stop pucks.

Last years where the best and the Nov '05 - Apr '06 were the second best I think. I'm not really sure how I feel about this years yet.

You know what though, so many goalies in the NHL have such ugly pads that I bet Henrik will still look better than most of them even if the design is rather fugly.

it pissed me off too. on the default pads for him in the game i made the white area red and the red area white to make it look more like the pads he had this season.

As a 3 time Vezina finalist i think hes doing ok. But improvement will come regardless of the pads. Very young guy, he is the cornerstone of this team and hopefully will be for a long time.

if we're gonna argue about goalie cosmetics, i much rather see him get a cooler mask design. his still screams "oh crap i randomly became the starter, make something quick!" its time he gets a design thats as iconic as ricther's was

He wasn't doing okay in a big Game Three against the Penguins, when he gave up 5 goals on 17 shots. Pathetic.

The guy's been very inconsistent and his mechanics/fundamentals have been all over the map.

At 26 years old, at the very least his fundamentals/mechanicss should be getting better. And they really haven't been.

It's the new TPS line that Henrik has had some imput on, I know he helped with the R8's that he wore the last 2 years so I assume he helped with this year too. Every goalie gets new pads, I don't even understand what this comment is about. It's equipment, I thought I would share with people what they would look like for next year, how does this mean hes just worrying about how he looks and isn't practicing? I don't get it.

Also, goalie equipment is actually very important to the goalies and is very personal. Just because these are what they will look like does not mean whatesoever that this is what he will be wearing because all pro goaltenders have heavily modded equipment to fit their needs. Don't just dismiss the equipment as a fashion statement.
