The answer is obvious. Holik should get his number back.

I don't think youth is coming anywhere near this team (on offence) this year unless Gionta gets traded. Bergfors and maybe Vrana will be in the minors. A combination of Parise, Elias, Rolston, Zubrus, Zajac, Gionta, Madden, Pandolfo, Langenbrunner, Rupp, Holik and Clarkson will play up front. The reserves, I'm guessing would be Tallackson (for size) and Pelley (or Vrana). The team (on offence) is being built for the playoffs and there's no room for the likes of Bergfors. The only way I can see him making the team is if (and it's very possible) Lou trades Gionta for a sure-fire, puck moving defenceman. Brylin very well may not ever play for the Devils again. Elias to Parise 07-03-2008, 07:08 PM I don't think it will matter because I get the feeling that Zubrus will get traded. and you would be wrong.. åboriginal 07-03-2008, 07:54 PM Zubrus was one of the only players on the Devils who I thought earned his contract last season. He showed up in the playoffs. i totally agree. but he NEEDS to have some better numbers. if he could play the way he did in the playoffs AND get 20-25 goals(which he could do) that would be fantastic for the team. hes got all the tools and i think hes gonna have a much better year this season. atleast i hope so, i really do like his game. Foy 07-03-2008, 09:09 PM no, i said in a previous post that he worked hard every game but at the end of the day, he didnt put the puck in the net as much as he needed to. we can have the hardest working group of players but if they dont score, we dont win. he was relied on to score more then he did. now that some of that pressure is relieved alittle with the rolston holik signings maybe he gets more points But Zubrus put the puck in plenty for him. He had 38 points last season, the most he's ever done when he hasn't had Ovechkin on his line is 42. devsfan8 07-03-2008, 09:19 PM i totally agree. but he NEEDS to have some better numbers. if he could play the way he did in the playoffs AND get 20-25 goals(which he could do) that would be fantastic for the team. hes got all the tools and i think hes gonna have a much better year this season. atleast i hope so, i really do like his game. IF he did not play with 134242129482 different linemates last season he might have. Watch him next season since he will be on either our top 2 lines or the 3rd line which will be a two way line. Zubrus has the size, stick reach, skating ability and heart to really be an asset to this team. I love his game. HE showed a lot of heart in the post season. He played like he wantedto win which is more then I can say that most of the rest of the team played. Put him on LW or RW and let it ride. britdevil 07-04-2008, 05:15 AM IF he did not play with 134242129482 different linemates last season he might have. I may disagree with you about our defense, but this is spot on. QFT. Rolston - Elias - Gionta Parise - Zajac - Langenbrunner Pandolfo - Madden - Zubrus Rupp - Holik - Clarkson :naughty: Hell, there is flexibility there to infuse Vrana on the 4th line (when Rupp's physicality isnt needed) to be able to roll all 4 lines. Devilswede 07-04-2008, 06:02 AM I don't care how good Zubrus was in the playoffs and that he played like a banger...no way did he earn his contract last season. Scoring 13 goals and only 38 points while earning $3.4 million is not what I call earning his contract. Do I like Zubrus? Yes I do and I want to see him succeed. But there's just no way one could be satisfied with his first year in New Jersey. Hopefully he can start earning that contract next season. I expect at least 20 goals and 50 points from him. He'll be fine. Second year, less offensive pressure. | ||
