Last year he had a breakout year in Russia, he put up impressive numbers in a low scoring Russian league. He is a really good skater and has good offensive skills. He can score and distribute the puck. I am not sure where these ideas of him being not a good person come from. All I heard is that he is the guy who hates being bothered for no reason but in Moscow his teammates seemed to like him.

I've seen him allot, both in Europe before the lockout, and in HFD in the AHL, and then in Sweden lately.

Of course he is as big of a headcase as there is out there. His dad is nuts and Sergei raised him from when he was like 15-16 in Detroit. But if he ever even remotely shows up with the right mindset his skillevel is unbeliveble.

Id never expect that. Like headcases usually just isn't that good either. But Fedor really got the skillevel to be a solid 70 pts player in the NHL. He is strong like a horse, skates well and can handle the puck.

It's a strange signing for Lou considering he doesn't put up with players who have attitude problems. So I think his thought process leading up to it could be one of the following:

a) Fedor still has an ego/attitude problems, but the Devils need a skilled play making center badly. Instead of selling the farm to acquire one, he takes a gamble on Fedor, who has the talent, and hopes Sutter can whip him into shape. If it doesn't work out, he goes back to Russia, and the Devils continue their search for a center. No harm no foul.

b) Fedor has matured since leaving N.A. and given his performance in the RSL last year, Lou considers him a "late bloomer" and decides to bring him over.

c) Though the roster is packed at this point, the team could still use a offensive minded center. Adding Fedor creates some more competition among the prospects for that position in training camp, and gives the coaching staff a few more options to work with. If he makes the team, great, if not, good luck in the AHL or wherever he ends up.

The way many Russian fans have been talking about him, I think he could very well be a huge surprise for New Jersey. I actually can't wait to see him at camp, the videos I was watching showed amazing size, speed and skill.

I was a little amused by this signing. Mostly due to how much trouble he has had on other teams and when he is on the farm. The stories that were reported on th Canucks board are near legendary and if 1/10 if them are true....it will be fun watching coashes pull their hair out

The way many Russian fans have been talking about him, I think he could very well be a huge surprise for New Jersey. I actually can't wait to see him at camp, the videos I was watching showed amazing size, speed and skill.

Same here, if anyone can get him to reach his potential, it's Lou and Brent. No matter how you spin it, the guy has a lot of skill.

Hopefully he's a little more mature now and theres nobody like Bieksa to punch his lights out. Maybe he's learned some humility playing over there in Russia.

like i said before. I have no expectations for him so if he turns out to be something good, then great. if not, i wouldnt shed a tear.

His mantra is that evil coaches in NHL and Russia stop him from playing "his way". He probably want to play like Jumbo-Joe (and he got some skills) not PF.
