Devils Talking to Campbell

At the Draft it was reported that the Sharks gave about 7 Eastern teams permission to talk to Brian Campbell. Everson is reporting that the Devils were one of those teams and has had talks with Campbell.

Devil GM Lou Lamoriello has already made an early, sanctioned, start at trying to land a top star in today's opening of unrestricted free agency, where his team shipwrecked last year.

The Post has learned that Lamoriello took advantage of permission San Jose granted last week to woo defenseman Brian Campbell, widely regarded as the top prize in today's unrestricted crop.

"We did have discussions. I'm not sure if Lou is going to make an offer, but we'd be receptive to listening," agent Larry Kelly said.

I second this motion. I believe they do the same with Eklund on the main trade rumors board.

Im pretty sure Mike Mottau is better in his own zone than Brian Campbell, most certainly on par. I really dont think thats a reach either.

Well, I'm just glad Lou didn't tie up that much money, for so many years for a player who is good...but not great in my books. I am reminded of Malakhov and Co. not so long ago. :)
